As you know, we here at Plastikitty are big fans of Argonaut Resins’ Tuttz figures and today we get to bring some new news regarding these plasticine felines. Artist Adam Pratt, whose customs showed up at Argonaut Resins’ table at Toy Fair, has joined Argonaut Resins’ creative team full time and he’s kicking things off with a few new customs!
First up, as seen in the header is the Armored Golem MK1 8″ Tuttz custom which features metallic paint and battle-worn accents. Next up is the second 8″ Tuttz, the Sekhmet Tuttz, who first showed up back at Toy Fair and now has received an awesome resin base. Rounding out the releases are two more mini Tuttz in the Tuttz Beginnings series, which are quite different from the first releases.
Considering I own the Beginnings mini Tuttz that already went up, I’m most certainly a fan of all of these! I’ve been in love with the Sekhmet Tuttz since we first saw it and the new resin base addition is just gorgeous. The Armored Golem is also stunning with its rivet work and it’s sure to make someone very happy. If you want to add one of these Tuttz to your collection, they’ll all be up on Tuesday, the 14th, at 10 PM EST on the Argonaut Resins webstore.

After all, their past figures include things like <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/discover-the-wonders-of-chima-group" target="_blank">a dinosaur in rain boots</a>, a <a href="www.plastikitty.com/home/chima-group-previews-some-adorable-new-wool-colorways" target="_blank">brontosaurus in a scarf</a>, and <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/chima-groups-formal-gets-some-new-clothes" target="_blank">a bird wearing a bowler hat and a banana peel</a>. Their sense of whimsy knows no bounds! And they are Japanese, so of course the cuteness factor is off the charts. But I think with this new release, named Kanicoro, they have actually managed to top themselves.</p> <p>How is that possible, you ask? Well, it’s a crab. A TEMPURA CRAB. WITH GOOGLY EYES. I CAN’T EVEN. Look at its face! The smile! The eye stalks! His little crab claws! I need an army of these guys asap. What more could you ask for in a resin collectible? He’s got two new releases lined up for this Friday, May 17th–both were available at Chromacon, New Zealand’s big comic event, but thankfully there are some leftovers for us non-kiwis.</p> <p>First up is a sakura-themed Sushi Kaiju. <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/plastikitty-gallery-sushi-and-figures" target="_blank">We have one in the original colorway</a> and we love him! There are only ten and these pink cuties retail for $60 a pop. Next up is a gorgeous aqua colorway of Bevil (look at that blue butt!), whose <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/bevil-the-evil-broccoli-is-ready-to-take-over-your-fridge" target="_blank">original splendid green release</a> I sadly missed out on. In fact, it was his first general release, with the other two being in Lucky Bags and at SDCC. They’re going back to Fosters’ roots, or should I say back to his…. dough *badum tssss* (oh god I’m sorry I couldn’t resist) with this new reverse mint colorway which features a teal mint cookie with chocolate brown filling.</p> <p>He’ll retail for $25 a pop and will go up for sale at Noon PST tomorrow the 11th. I’ve always wanted a crazy colored release, something like pink. And what do you know, the first fantasy colored release is… HOT PINK! And black! One of my favorite color combinations!</p> <p>This colorway will be at Super Festival on April 28th (the same day as Dolpa 29th, in case there are any other kaiju & DD fans out there keeping track), though I expect a handful to make their way online. Last time it was the ridiculously awesome <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/sergey-safonovs-govra-the-deity-of-the-end-is-a-work-of-art" target="_blank">‘Govra Deity of the End’</a> and now we’ve got a piece that I really hesitate to even call a toy at all: clearly, this is art. ‘The End of the Man’ is a standalone sculpture that represents the end of the lifecycle of one of his most popular sculpts: Godot, who we’ve seen grown up and in child form.</p> <p>This, apparently, is how our feathered friend ends up: dead, nothing left but a beautiful skull. It’s morbid, obviously, but also gorgeous in a very creepy way. And thus it began! But in the 4 years since we picked up that piece I’ve found my interest in KR and vinyl as a whole waning. It just seems less and less inventive, to the point where I can’t really recall any non-kaiju pieces I’ve been lusting after in the past 6 months or so… until now.</p> <p>This collaboration with South African artist Colus is simply stunning. ‘The Hunted’ is a black & white 8″ Dunny modeled on the Springbuck/Springbok, a type of antelope. I find it almost haunting, very minimalistic but still moving on an emotional level. I honesty can’t even recall another 8″ design I’ve loved as much as this one! About a month ago we found out that it was finally happening with <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/cometdebris-sametan-is-getting-a-custom-show" target="_blank">‘Don’t Tread On Me!’</a> There was a long, long list of artists asked to participate, and they really pulled out all the stops! Of course the shark fin soup imagery was big given that Sametan, well, has his fins cut off (and sown back on).</p> <p>But there was a lot more! Hulk Sametans, demon Sametans, panda Sametans, and a whole lot more. There were even goodies like necklaces! My personal favorite is FERG’s, the idea of a shark in scuba gear just tickles my fancy.
