Dollfie Dream Dynamite Archive

In Volks New 50, it was unveiled that we’d be getting a new lineup of standard model Dollfie Dreams–cheaper, and readily available dolls, though they come with less in the way of clothing and accessories. In fact, all they get is a slip! Volks has already previewed MDD Rena, and now it’s time for the other two. Mayu is a DDH-04 on a DDS body, which is nice since the DDS seems to be quite hard to acquire. Usually I dislike the 04 (it’s my least favorite of the standard heads) but Mayu is just so cute! I even like her stock eyes & wig.
Then we’ve got Miko, a DDH-06 on a Dynamite body. It’s a cute combination, and the 06 is really a gorgeous head. I actually really like her stock wig: the purple is an interesting color choice! Miko will retail for ¥44,000 while Mayu will be slightly less at ¥42,000–apparently, those boobs cost ¥2,000! Both will be initially released at the DD Gathering in October, though of course they will be available online afterwards (and not as a lottery item!).

Volks News 50 has come out, and as usual it’s filled with announcements! No new Sasara, but we’re getting something that is even better (at least to me!): XENOSAGA DOLLFIE DREAMS. I think it’s safe to say we’ll get KOS-MOS, possibly Shion or T-ELOS as well? This also looks to be their new pre-order project.
Next up we’ve got 3 new character models (meaning non-limited and much less expensive). Dollfie Dream Sister Mayu (DDH-04), Dollfie Dream Dynamite Miko (DDH-06), and Dollfie Dream Mini Rena (DDH-01). I love Miko, and while I don’t usually like the 04 Mayu is darn cute! Last but not least, DDH-05 (Sirius) is getting what seems to be a regular release! Great news for fans of the sculpt like myself. There are also plenty of new outfits (including bunny girls!), so check them all out after the jump!

For nearly a year now, there has been a rumor that Dollfie Dreams Sasara and Tamaki (two of the rarest and most expensive DDs) would be getting re-releases in their Dragon Chronicles gear. Now, it seems like there’s some basis to those rumors–or at least right now for Sasara! Like the new Saber Alter, this wouldn’t be a re-release per say but a version 2. Possibly the best news is that it is right around the time for Volks to announce a new pre-order project, meaning she might actually not be that hard to get! We should know soon, as the source says the official announcement will be on Sunday. It’s still a rumor at the moment, but I am really hoping this one comes true!

One of the best things about Dollfie Dreams is their customizeability. Of course if you want to keep, say, Saber Lily as Saber Lily you don’t have to mess with anything. But almost every aspect of a DD can be changed: clothing, wigs, eyes, body types, even faceup can be removed and redone. And if Volks doesn’t have the perfect headsculpt for your project, there are other options, like SQlab heads. Many owners have customs of some sort, and they are often the DDs that rise to popularity in the community because of their uniqueness. Of course owning someone else’s custom isn’t even an idea that most collectors consider, but every once in a while that rare opportunity pops up.
Recently, Stephen and I had the opportunity to buy not one but two of our favorite customs! The first is Kureha, based on (of course) Kureha from Shining Wind. She was one of the first DDs I had a “crush” on when we started collecting. She’s on a DDS M-bust at the moment, borrowing a body from our adorable Marisa. The second doll is Ryoko, an original character that Stephen has been a huge fan of for a long time now. When the two went up for sale about a week apart, we of course jumped on the opportunity to own these coveted beauties. Now they are a part of our growing DD family, and we couldn’t be happier to have such lovely girls in our home!

Ah, May. The birds are singing, the flowers are blooming, the figure boxes are coming in non-stop. I’ll admit that I haven’t been totally thrilled with the loot from some of the past few months and found it rather heavy on Nendoroids and figmas. May definitely changed my tune with a whopping 18 scaled figures, as well as of course some poseable goodies and four (very) large doll arrivals. Hit the jump to check it out!

Hometown Dolpa Kyoto 9 has ended, as well as the US lottery, so the Volks International After-Event is pretty much your last shot at owning Dollfie Dreams Lucy & Haruka for retail. Lottery orders just opened and will close at 17:00 Japan time on March 27th. You can place your orders here for Lucy & Haruka and their limited outfits as well as SD Megu and Yo-SD Megu!
The DD Blog has also given us another preview of Lucy, which is great for people looking to buy her as it seems she was incredibly limited and there aren’t a ton of user pictures. I only know a handful of people who won her in the US lottery–though thankfully I was among them! Many people seem to think Lucy is too pouty but I adore her faceup and these new images only make me want mine more! If you are entering Haruka seems to be a lot more common, but as always the odds are a bit lower in the International event because there are so many people entering.

Hometown Dolpa Kyoto 9 is about 2 weeks away, which means sites are preparing for the lottery entries! Volks USA has put up pages for all of the limited items, including the 2 lovely new Dollfie Dreams. DDdy Hauka Niimi will retail for $594 while her tennis outfit (which includes a wig) will be $141. DD Lucy Misora is a tiny bit more at $605, though I’m not sure why there is an $11 difference between the two since their sets seem really similar. They will also be releasing ToHeart2 uniform sets for the DD and DDdy ($86) and MDD ($75). Of course there are SDs too–SD16 Megu ($1,078) and Yo-SD Megu ($506).
The lottery will open on March 11th at 11AM PST and will close on the 14th at 11AM PST. Good luck to anyone who chooses to enter–all of the dolls this time around are so lovely!

With Dolpa Kyoto 9 right around the corner, it’s time for Volks to surprise us all with some new Dollfie Dream releases! The first is Lucy Misora from ToHeart2, who is a white-skinned DDIII. Her faceup looks uncannily similar to Sasara, only younger. The second is Haruka Niimi from PhotoKano. She’s on a DDdy, and I simply love her eyes and face sculpt. This is actually the new DDdy, which is an upgraded body that will have joints similar to the DDS and DDIII.
Both of these girls have a rather sad or at least shy expression, which is really my cup of tea–while they don’t seem that popular among collectors in general, I have quite a few similar girls in my collection! Lucy is priced at ¥55,000 and Haruka’s price isn’t visible in these shots, but we can assume that she will be around the same range.

Dolpa 26 is set to have a lot of merchandise–outfits for DD and SD, and of course new dolls! The dolls of course tend to draw the most attention, but for long-time DD owners the outfits are just as exciting. You don’t just buy a doll and keep it in the stock outfit forever, these girls demand new outfits! So browsing through clothing selections and deciding which outfits would look best on your girls is a whole lot of fun.
The DD Blog has been showing off the new DD, DDdy, DDS and MDD clothing sets for the past few days, and I want them all! There seems to be a winter theme: even the pajamas are fit for cold weather. There are some lovely fall dresses as well, and some warm-looking winter gear. Of course each outfit is pretty pricey, with prices ranging from ¥4,000 to ¥9,000 for each set. If you have the money, though, Volks outfits are definitely worth getting!

Well, Volks gave us some very exciting news last night, but of course making us put aside a thousand dollars for Saber Extra just isn’t enough! This time it’s outfits, every Dollfie owner’s weakness. Who can resist spoiling their girls with some shiny new duds? Not me, that’s for sure!
Thankfully there’s not a whole lot I am interested in this time around. I adore the two rose dresses, though those are the headlining items so they will probably go fast! But man, I can just picture Marisa and Aerie in them… so cute! The other outfits are more towards the causal end of the spectrum, with clothing that I don’t think any girl (or doll) would be caught dead in outside! But hey, Dollfies spend most of their time inside, so these are pretty perfect for everyday attire.
These sets are part of their Tenshi-No-Sumika Fair, and will be available the 24th through the 25th Japan time. They’ll be up in their Volks Showroom and Kyoto location, and of course online! If you want any of this, be sure to act quickly, as Volks outfits go at the speed of light. Or, you know, wait for the cheaper and easier to get US release in a few months!
UPDATE: You may have noticed that the two models for the rose outfits are not standard, released Dollfies. They might be customs, but it seems more likely that these will be releases for the Tenshi-No-Sumika event. These will most likely be Akibahara girls, the more mature one being the teacher Mariko on a DDdy and the little one being Natsuki’s little sister. But who knows with Volks!
A second theory is that the DDdy is a white-skinned Kanu custom and that the DDS is Reimu. The face sculpts do look very similar, but Volks has both used customs to show off outfits and new DDs before release!
