Dollfie Dreams Archive

We found out the 3 dolls that would be released at Hometown Dolpa Sendai a few days ago, but it’s hard to judge them based on blurry pictures-of-pictures. Of course Volks is swooping in with some nicer shots of these lovely girls, and unsurprisingly Sakura Shinguji from Sakura Wars/Sakura Taisen is up first! This is a project that they’ve been hyping for months and months, so we can guess that a lot more work went into her than other DD releases.
The level of detail is clear in her outfit, weapon, and wig, which look amazing. However, I am so not sold on the face as it looks nothing like Sakura. Granted, I don’t require my DDs to look identical to the character, but not only is she very un-Sakura, she also looks like several of Volks’ previous releases (the DDH-06 and Reimu). I was hoping for something unique for her, though I’m sure she will still sell very well. Her retail will be ¥59,000 and she’ll be released at the event, which takes place August 12th. There’s a nasty rumor floating around that she might be event-only (i.e. no lottery) but it has yet to be confirmed.

Dolpa 27 is getting closer and closer, which of course means more full reveals of the goodies that will be there! We’ve already seen the three new Dollfies (Sakuya, Rise & Cirno), but of course dolls need clothing so it’s time to check out what they’ll have at the event. It’s a LOT–I mean there’s always a ton of options for Dolpas but it seems like there’s even more for Dolpa 27. Not really surprising, though–we knew they’d be going all-out as soon as they announced a whopping 3 new Dollfie Dreams.
There’s a lot to pick from here: in the SD line (which often will fit DDs) we’ve got some very nice steampunk outfits and an entire line of cat/fox outfits from Yo-SD all the way to SD16! There’s also some gothic vampire-themed stuff too that makes me wish there were male DDs. There are also several cheap individual pieces if you don’t want to pony up for a set!
For the Dollfie Dream owners there are some adorable themed outfits: nurse gear and a lab coat, along with two cute MDD outfits. There will also be two new headphone colors (metallic pink & blue) with matching microphone stands, several new shoes, Volks’ new wig lineup, and a couch! Pricing for all of these can be found at Volks’ website, and these will be given 3 releases: the first at the event, then at the International after-event, and finally at Volks USA when they get in the dolls 3 months down the road. Personally, I think we are going to go for the nurse outfits, the lab coat, the new headphones and maybe the SD13 female cat outfit, but do any of these new offerings strike your fancy?
