@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Erick Scarecrow Archive
Posted by Stephen Donaldson on November 26, 2013 | No Comments
Erick Scarecrow of ESCToy has been trying for years upon years to bring his dreams to the screen in the form of anime, and finally, he’s gotten the chance — his 9 Deadly Killer Pussies Kickstarter is now live! In cooperation with Asahi Production, together they’re trying to reach a goal of $159,999 to produce 20 minutes of animation. The show revolves around 9 people who are randomly given shape shifting powers to turn into cats via an ancient stone in the hopes of battling zombies. The show sounds like a whole bunch of fun and hopefully it can get funded. If you want to help them out, you can pledge $9 to $9,999 or more with various items being offered for each level as well from plushes to resin figures and even the ability to have your own cat put into the show. Head on over to Kickstarter to help them out so that this East meets West anime can come to fruition; there’s only 21 days left!

With all the PVC coverage we do on the site, it’s easy to forget that Stephen and I own a lot of vinyl–well over a thousand pieces (you may have noticed we’re not the best at keeping track of things). In fact, given that they tend to be on the smaller side compared to PVC as well as both harder to come by and more expensive, we often forget ourselves! There’s really nothing better to help you get re-aquainted with your collection than a photoshoot, so I decided to take one of my favorites out in the garden: ESC-Toy’s Yarn Shroom.
I’m a big fan of pretty much anything with cat ears, even if they are on my least favorite vegetable (though whether fungi are really plant, animal or somewhere in between is always up for debate!). It seems I generally have a fondness for mushroom figures–I guess because I don’t have to think about eating their gross slimy flesh. And Yarn Shroom is anything but gross: cute, devious, beautiful, fascinating to look at in the light, but far from icky. So check out his adventures in the gallery, and expect a visit from his green cousin to pop up later this fall.

Way back at NYCC we showed you a whole bunch of new figures from ESCToy set to be released over the next year or so and Zone 6 was one of those pieces. This post-apocalyptic hyper-detailed piece features what appears to be some sort of skeleton warrior, Zone 6, and his minion, the Nasty Companion. I love the mix of the eastern and western design styles in this piece and if you do too, you can head on over to the ESCToy store and add this pair to your collection for $150. Act fast though, there’s only 10 of these guys out there to terrorize your collection!

ESC-Toy is one of the few vinyl/resin companies that produces figures for all ends of the specturm: everything from small, cheaper figures for those of us who are broke to super limited, super expensive runs for the avid collector. This post is about the latter, since there are 3 mega-rare figures on the horizon! The first is a ‘Dramatic Bastard’ Pretty Boi cast in gorgeous clear resin and will cost you $250.
Then there’s a coveted S.Maria in Sato retailing for $400, and some custom painted Nathan Drakes all hand-done by Erick Scarecrow himself which will be $500. Each of these are slightly different, so no two are alike! All 3 of these different releases are APs and shipping in the US is only $1 in the ESC shop. These will go live at 11AM EST on the 27th, so get your F5 key ready!

It’s time once again for another batch of ESC-Toys releases! This time we’ve got 4 new figures, some of which we’ve been waiting on since New York Comic Con! First up is the Dali x Crow Crow Bear in Silver Hour, retailing for $35 and limited to only 25 pieces. As a Crow Crow Bear lover, I’m happy to see new versions of the cutie! Then we have a new Soopa Maria in the Cooki colorway, featuring some lovely pastel tones. She’ll retail for $200 and there are only 10 of her!
Next up is the adorable yet slightly creepy Mini Meekay Darling Meeses colorway–a rather hilarious mashup of ESC’s Micci and the ubiquitous Mickey Mouse. There are only 10, and each will be $150. Last but certainly not least is a new Kissaki, one of my favorite ESC figures! This is the handpainted ‘Soul Steal’ colorway and you can snag one for $400–but be quick, there are only 3! All of these goodies are up in the ESC Store right now, so hurry up if you want some resin goodness!

Erick Scarecrow is an unlimited source of adorable and colorful figures, but this collaboration with Scott Tolleson might be the cutest release yet! It’s a cutesy take on Papa Sama, named the Akuma Papa Sama. Just look at his little face! His first release will come in two colorways: the first is the Miruku version which will be a run of only 17 pieces, each one handpainted and numbered.
They’ll retail for $200 each, and will go up at 11AM EST on the 11th (tomorrow!) in ESC’s online store. As a very special bonus, each purchase will net you a lottery ticket to win the second solid gold colorway. That’s right, you could get a second one totally free! There are only two golden Papa Sama Akumas, which gives you around a 9% chance of winning. Not enough goodies for you? Well, the Miruku colorway comes with a print as well!

It’s almost time for Designer Con, which of course means more news on exclusives! ESC-Toy is bringing quite a few goodies, all of which we actually saw at New York Comic Con. There will be the first release of the Lurker collaboration with Frombie, retailing for $80 and available at Spankystokes’ booth #301. Then there’s the Fireball 2 Tails, a run of only 11 priced at $130 and available online on the 2nd at 9AM PST. Last but not least we’ve got the Little Spiker Spitfire, a run of 16 pieces for $140 at BAIT’s booth #101. There will also be a Lurker pin and a limited edition poster! Dcon seems to have a ton of great exclusives lined up, I wish I could make it out there!

We wrapped up our New York Comic Con coverage a few days ago, but of course photos weren’t the only thing that came home with me & Stephen from the convention! Loot is one of the main lures for toy fans, and NYCC certainly had exclusives to spare. Seemingly every booth in the Cultyard had several exclusives up for offer, and while we went in planning to only nab a few we ended up with more than we bargained for! So hit the jump to check out our tasty loot haul for NYCC.
