@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

This week was an odd but interesting one for figure-orders. For the first half, we had literally nothing but NSFW figures and re-releases go up for order, which is unusual to say the least! Usually we get one or 2 NSFW figures per a roundup, but this week 4 went up within a few days of each other. Then we got spammed with surprise re-releases, one of which I really didn’t expect!
As the week went on we got some “normal” additions to the pre-order lineup, like a… very busty beach queen? Followed up by two figures who were both re-releases AND NSFW! What is this, boob week? Then, to round off the week, we got MORE RE-RELEASES. Thankfully, Kotobukiya must have seen what an odd week it was because they offered up some sexy boys. Funnily enough, it ended up not being the week of boobs or the week of re-releases, but the week of Griffon! Out of the 18 figures that went up for order, a whopping 7 of them were from Griffon. So what did we get this week? Hit the jump and find out!

Saber Lily was one of our very first Dollfies, #3 to be exact, and while our family has certainly grown a lot since we got her she’s still one of our very favorites. She’s got one of the prettiest faces I’ve ever seen, and a wild personality to boot! But because of how expensive she is compared to our others, she tends to stay inside a lot. I get nervous having her out and about!
But the second I put her in this red polka-dot dress (which was originally meant for Mari), I knew she’d be making the journey inside. With her vivid green eyes, she looks just like a strawberry! So Saber Lily got to go outside for some air, and Mari ended up coming with us too. Those two never seem to be far apart! So hit the jump to check them both out, and look forward to our Dollfie Family post soon!

So we know that Volks is doing a collaboration with Type-Moon for their 10th anniversary, and that it will include the brand-new Saber Extra as well as a second version of Saber Alter. We also know that it will be a web project with an open pre-order period, and that Volks USA is participating. But so far, we’re missing one very important piece of information–the pricing! For doll buyers, the price could mean the difference between getting both or getting just one, so the community has been waiting with bated breath.
Well, the site has just updated with the information, and both dolls are surprisingly affordable! Saber Extra will retail for ¥69,000 and Saber Alter will be ¥59,000. I’m expecting the US prices to be a bit over $700 for Extra and around $600 for Alter. We also have information about the body type they will be using, and no one should be surprised that it is the DDIII! Saber Alter will have an M bust, but Extra will have an L, making her the first of 4 Sabers to be busty! Saber Alter is also using the original Saber headmold, though no word if she will have updated faceup. Saber Extra also might be using the same headmold, though it really seems like they should do something new for her. I’d really like to see them do a new fierce one, or at least use the updated Lily face!
They also announced pricing on the outfits we saw for Saber Alter. The jogging/track suit will be ¥8,800 and the swimsuit is ¥2,800. And if that wasn’t enough, it seems like Saber Extra will come with 2 sets of eyes–I am guessing normal and her “crazy” eyes. It looks like we are getting closer and closer to actual pictures of these girls, as well as an order date!

When Volks showed off Saber Alter’s sword back when they announced the Fate/EXTRA web project, everyone assumed that it would be an armored version of her. Well, it looks like we were all wrong, as Volks has just shown off the concept art and it’s… fancy dress Saber Alter!
This is probably a relief for anyone who wanted her, as armored dolls are about $400-$500 more expensive than non-armored one. Combine that with her open pre-order period, and this version of one of the rarest Dollfies looks to be quite obtainable!
The dress is really gorgeous, and they also showed off a few alternate outfits for her as well that will probably in the pre-order period. There’s a chance the swimsuit will come with her for free, like the White Album girls, and the casual outfit looks like it won’t cost too much. I’m hoping she gets some re-done faceup, because her old faceup feels a bit outdated among the more modern girls!

I feel like this week was very slow for figures. They seemed to trickle in, and releases were quite spread out. That might be because of the huge flood of re-releases, which made this week feel like “the week of old figures that I already own.”
But in the end, this week had a decent amount of figures, and some real gems among them, like the stunning Alter Aegis and the surprise re-release of Distant Avalon Saber Lily. There were also some ridiculously horrible figures from A-Label, and a few exclusives from Dengeki and Volks that I can never afford!

Saber Lily was one of our first Dollfies, but perhaps the one that took the longest to grow on me. With the other girls, personalities seemed to pop out right away. Saber always seemed… mysterious, like she was thinking very hard about something. When you spend this much on a doll, you want to feel some sort of connection to it, and I felt like that was lacking with Saber. Though she was beautiful, I didn’t feel moved by her at all.
Then I realized that Stephen and I had yet to take her out for a photoshoot. We’d really never done anything more than dress her up! So as soon as our set of lion pajamas came in, I knew it was time to bring her out of her shell. So hit the jump and see what Saber Lily is like in the great outdoors!

The other day we showed you that Dollfie Dream III Moe was going up for international orders and now, a lucky few in Japan already seem to have gotten their Moes and opened them up, revealing some new teasers as well! In the Official Dollfie Dream Handbook that recently came out, there were quite a few new teasers. Of course Moe’s cosplaying friend Natsuki was on hand, who’s already been hinted at getting a re-release due to her promotional shots with Moe being on a Dollfie Dream III body, but there were also three new unexpected announcements. First up are Moe’s sister Mariko and Natsuki’s sister Nanami. There’s not much else given besides short bios on them and that Mariko likes anime and cosplay and Nanami likes music and the guitar and there’s no word yet on whether or not these will be Dollfie Dream Sisters or Dollfie Dream IIIs.
Also at the back of the pamphlet was a series of images with the Fate Hollow Ataraxia logo and Fate Unlimited Codes logo with a picture of Saber Extra’s sword on the next page and a message of, “to be continued.” Considering the vast success of the three Saber Dollfies so far, it’s been safe to assume that Volks would be making a Dollfie of Saber in this outfit as well, especially since she’s so different in character — *SPOILER* she’s Nero instead of King Arthur! *END SPOILER* This is great news since Saber Extra’s outfit and weapon are so unique and interesting and I really can’t wait to see what Volks does with her.
Are any of you readers thinking of picking any of these up or are you not excited for any of these new announcements?

When I first started collecting, I didn’t understand the Fate/Stay Night fever that so many people had. The character designs seemed plain, and Saber in particular looked like a dozen other anime girls. The only one who really caught my eye was Rider, but figures of her are few and far between. Then I finally watched the show, and though it seems a bit dated now, I realized that Saber and Rin weren’t clones of other characters–those other characters were clones of them!
After actually seeing the series, Rin became my favorite character. She has perhaps the plainest design of all the female characters, since she’s lacking purple hair, elf ears, or a giant invisible sword, but she’s a hot-blooded tsundere with the skills to back up her bitchy personality. Most of her figures are from before the jump in PVC quality, but recently not one but two Rins were announced–Alter’s causal Summer Version, and Good Smile Company’s ridiculously awesome Unlimited Blade Works version. Being a Rin fangirl, I of course ordered both, but the latter has been one of my most anticipated figures since she was first shown off over a year ago. But GSC has had some quality problems recently, so would Rin fall prey to the issues that have plagued their figures, or live up to the rest of their Fate/Stay Night line?
