Fate/Apocrypha Archive

  • Few things go together as well (and often) as Good Smile Company and the Fate/Stay Night franchise. And of course they had a massive amount at this Wonder Festival, so let’s just dive right in! We’re getting Nendoroids of Merlin, Miyamoto Musashi, Ishtar, and Elizabeth Bathory, along with figmas of Rider of Black, Jeanne d’Arc Alter, and Saber of Red. Onto my favorite, the scales! Good Smile will be giving us Altria Pendragon (who looks stunning), Mash Kyrielight: Heroic Spirit Formal Dress Ver (what a short and concise name!), Mash Kyrielight ~Dangerous Beast~, and Altria Pendragon on a motorcycle. From Max Factory we will get Jeanne d’Arc Alter Dress Version and a soft vinyl Paul Bunyan (who is a Berserker–were they inspired by IT?). Last but not least, Orange Rouge is giving us two boys: Gilgamesh and the original Lancer! A little something for everyone, no? [via whl4u]

  • Ah, Aniplex. Maker of prices that make my heart sing and my wallet cry. I will admit that I only own a scant few of their pieces because 1) insane pricetags and 2) exclusives. It’s a bad combo! But once again, I am impressed with their new lineup and want them all. We have 4 announcements today! First off, we are getting more Fate/Apocrypha figures: Mordred and Astolfo. Their amazing Ishtar is also painted! They will also be re-visiting Madoka… or Magical Record Mahou Shoujo Madoka ☆ Magica Gaiden, which is not at all a long and annoying name or anything. They will be doing Madoka (of course) and Iroha Tamaki. Can’t wait to see them all sculpted! [via Aniplex]

  • You know what I want right before Wonder Festival? When we’re t-minus 7 hours away? A different event with like 50 new Fate/Stay Night figures at it! What joy, what excitement, what nonsense. The Fate/History event was showing off the figure history of, you guessed it, the Fate franchise, but it had SO MANY NEW FIGURES from every company who has put them out in the past: Good Smile Company, Max Factory, AlphaMax, Aquamarine, Pulchra, Myethos, Kotobukiya, PLUM, etc. Seriously just so many. The stars of the show for me were Pulchra’s very cute Marie Antoinette and Aquamarine’s sitting dress Saber EXTRA who looks so detailed and fantastic. But GSC had quite a few crazy gals on display too like the new Jeanne and Artoria Pendragon on a giant horse. I wonder how many arms & legs that will cost! [via Hobby Maniax]

  • For some reason, I always associate Good Smile Company with the most hype teasers. It’s probably because there are so dang many, and we always get one or two no one can identify until the actual event happens. It’s like a game! And this year is no exception, we have quite a few teasers on our hands. First, the new Nendoroids: they teased a Guardian from Breath of the Wild, a new Kongou from KanColle, Hifumi Takimoto from New Game!, and Kukuri from Mahoujin Guru Guru. Ai-chan from Getsuyoubi no Tawawa is painted, and Juzumaru Tsunetsugu from Touken Ranbu is sculpted. As for the scaled figures, Arisa from Shadowverse is painted as is Izuminokami Kanesada from Touken Ranbu. Then we have sculpt teasers for birthday Rem! They also announced a Nendoroid of Astolfo from Fate/Apocrypha. Who is the mystery dress girl, though? Hard to tell from the edge of a skirt! [via Kahotan]

  • You would think that with how oversaturated the figure market is, we wouldn’t get constant new companies. But Easy Eight, who popped up out of nowhere last Wonder Festival, seems to be running strong (even though they have yet to actually release a figure). They seem to be on a big Fate/Stay Night kick, because their next figure is also from the series! It’s Mordred from Fate/Apocrypha, though she is very casual here. Hilariously, it seems that Easy Eight was started by the sculptor who did Aquamarine’s casual Mordred, so I guess he is really going back to his roots with this one. [via Easy Eight’s Twitter]

  • If there is an event where Good Smile Company is at attendance, you can bet that there will be Nendoroids. So many Nendoroids. We have some announcements: Fate/Apocrypha‘s Jeanne d’Arc (yay!), Aoba Suzukane from New Game!, and Aqua from Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!. We also have some updated sculpts. Ainz Ooal Gown from Overlord is painted, as is Kogane Asabuki from Bubuki Buranki. Also Matsuno Osomatsu is sculpted, so I’m sure all the other brothers are to follow! We also have one of Miku’s Co-De outfits all painted up. [UPDATE] Added some up-close shots, and also a second Miku! [via Kahotan & AmiAmi]

  • Hobby Round is basically an event where Volks says “hey, check out all our new stuff!” Like MegaHobby for Alter & MegaHouse, only way more boring. Because let’s be honest: Volks isn’t the most thrilling of companies. They’ve basically stopped making PVC figures along with more elaborate garage kits, and are going full-throttle on the CharaGumin line which is pre-painted resin. I would be fine with this, but the CharaGumin line is 1) insanely expensive, 2) very hard to obtain and 3) not nearly as nicely sculpted as the majority of the PVC on the market. Which is strange: it’s like light garage kit building, but who is it aimed at? Not dedicated GK builders, not casual PVC fans (because it breaks our budget). What is the point?! Anyway, they had quite a few things on display at this event from Fate/Stay Night, Evangelion, Love Live!, Girls Und Panzer, Slayers, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [via moeyo]

  • Aquamarine doesn’t produce a lot of figures, but there’s no doubt that they can do it well… when they try. Laura from Infinite Stratos is a good example of when they don’t try. It’s not pretty. But for the most part, they make well-sculpted figures of characters that don’t get a ton of attention. And while most of their Miyazawa lineup was (unsurprisingly) kind of old stuff, they did have one shiny new sculpt: their amazing Golden Darkness! The horns, the hair, the pose. I’m so smitten. • Wonder Festival doesn’t officially start for over an hour, but there are always some early leaks. In this case, Aquamarine is leaking… their entire booth! Which makes things easier for me, so I am not going to complain. And really nothing here is a surprise: there’s the Chris repaint, Mordred who was teased earlier, and two adorable but scantily clad KanColle girls: Yukikaze and Shimakaze. Their gorgeous Sinon is also there, and we’ll update as soon as we have a full picture of her! EDIT: Welp, that was fast! Sinon is in the gallery~ [via dj_potemkin’s Twitter]

  • Usually I complain about the endless parade of Saber figures that we get. I mean, there are just *so many* and do we really need more? But honestly, I really love the design of Fate/Apocrypha‘s Saber of the Red. Probably because of her identity as Mordred, which gives me Mists of Avalon nostalgia. Also, her armored form is beyond awesome (and we’re even getting a figure of it!). Aquamarine announced a figure of this Saber at last year’s Wonder Festival, and they’re still the only company to show off a non-armored sculpt of her. Now, a year later, we’re seeing her painted! Like Orchid Seed and ques Q, Aquamarine tends to release garage kits of it figures as event exclusives, and they’ll be bringing this one to Wonder Festival. Along with, I assume, the painted prototype, meaning we’ll have better shots of her soon one way or another! [via Aquamarine]
