  • Ah, Flare: they make your faves but never paint them, and when they do, they’re insanely expensive. Can you tell I have a love/hate relationship with them? They seem to be moving at a solid pace with some of the announcements from last WonFest, though: Saber Bride and Gwendolyn are both painted, and we have a Nier update. Sadly, no news on Asuka or Blindi, but we do have some new figures: Golden Darkness, a new Elin, and Odin Sphere minis! [via amiami & pederisan]

  • You know what I want right before Wonder Festival? When we’re t-minus 7 hours away? A different event with like 50 new Fate/Stay Night figures at it! What joy, what excitement, what nonsense. The Fate/History event was showing off the figure history of, you guessed it, the Fate franchise, but it had SO MANY NEW FIGURES from every company who has put them out in the past: Good Smile Company, Max Factory, AlphaMax, Aquamarine, Pulchra, Myethos, Kotobukiya, PLUM, etc. Seriously just so many. The stars of the show for me were Pulchra’s very cute Marie Antoinette and Aquamarine’s sitting dress Saber EXTRA who looks so detailed and fantastic. But GSC had quite a few crazy gals on display too like the new Jeanne and Artoria Pendragon on a giant horse. I wonder how many arms & legs that will cost! [via Hobby Maniax]

  • Ah, AlphaMax. Hitting us Tony Taka fans in the wallet every time. This year they had… a lot of Tony Taka on display! Along with figures based on the art of Yuran, Misaki Kurehito, Inue Shinsuke, Nekoume, and more. They also had some safe for work things on display! Like the Saber/Saber EXTRA combo in the header, Makise from Steins;Gate, and the surprise reveal of Zashunina Yahakui from Seikai Suru Kado. [UPDATE] Added a few more figures to the gallery! • I used to really look forward to Phat! Company’s booth when they did pretty much nothing but IDOLM@STER. Those were good times. Times I look back fondly on. I mean, they still had quite a few IM@S girls at the event, like the super candy-sweet Frederica Miyamoto and a few older sculpts (that still aren’t painted!!). But it’s definitely slowed down. They did have some other things, like a brand-new wedding Rem and a few painted sculpts. But overall, not a ton of new things! And then we have a bunch of Fate/Grand Order announcements: Caster EXTRA, Saber EXTRA in a kimono, and Kiyohime Lancer. Hopefully they are as cute as the IM@S stuff! [via Phat’s Twitter]

  • It’s that time again! Time to look at a few of the garage kits that will be on display and for sale at Wonder Festival. Of course for most of us this is just to drool over, but as always if you are attending the event each picture is labeled with the circle & character name! Also, I am insanely jealous of you. The trends this year are basically what you would expect. Tons of Re:Zero (and by that I mean tons of Rem & Ram, who cares about the other characters!), idol shows out in force, and quite a bit of Granblue Fantasy. Some old trends seem to be dying (there’s very little of Miku & Sonico compared to previous years). And, surprisingly, Cartoon Network is represented quite a bit. Check them all out in the gallery below, and let us know what you’d like to see as PVC! [via Grizzry Panda, mokupate, Volks, Kotopora, Primal Heart, fixia, Anadigi, Tinami]

  • At any event they attend, Good Smile Company and their numerous umbrella companies always steal the show. How can they not, with so much firepower? Of course Nendoroids were right at the forefront. Megumin, Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke, lots of KanColle (Hatsuzuki, Kiso, Pola), Caster Extra, Hajime Iwaizumi, and Boba Fett all made an appearance. And of course figmas too! We had Takao, Iowa, and Mumei on display. Max Factory brought their new To LOVEru girl, Yuuki Mikan, and we had FREEing’s bunny Ryuuko Matoi. Last but not least, there’s Phat!’s Parform Hikari Karibuchi and Saber. [UPDATE] Added a few stray figures! [UPDATE 2] Added one last announcement: 22 Niang and 33 Niang from Bilibili! • There are quite a few figures of Saber Bride out there. I already own three: AlphaMax, Medicom, and Good Smile, and I was fairly certain that would be more than enough for me. But apparently not, because Hobby Max has just unveiled a Bride figure sculpted by Kiking that is beyond my wildest dreams for a figure of her. With an amazing base, intricate details, and a unique pose, this Bride has it all–though her eyes are golden, which is a bit odd. What happened to the green? It’s also a pretty mysterious figure. We have a release date (August) and know pre-orders are open tonight, but she’s also linked to a Chinese kickstarter and appears to be an exclusive. Though hey, in this day and age that won’t stop any figure collector! The price, though, might just do that… [UPDATE] It seems there are two versions of this beauty! The DX one with the base is exclusive, so you will need a proxy for her. There’s also a standard edition with a simpler base available at most figure stores. However, their price is the same, so you’ll only pay about 2k more in proxy fees if you get the special edition. Tempting! [via Hobby Max’s Twitter]

  • Of course the highlight of Phat! Company’s booth was their amazing IDOLM@STER girls, but they rocked pretty much everything. I have to admit, they’re fast becoming one of my favorite companies. And they didn’t disappoint this year! I mean, just look at the header girl, Jibril from No Game No Life. MY HEART. Djeeta from Granblue is just as cute, plus we have Julius Visconti from God Eater and a super cool new Raimu Kawasaki from Bakuon. Oh, and the amazing poseable Evangelion gals (plus sassy Unit 01). Then the announcements! Saber Extra, Pepperoni and Anchovy from Girls und Panzer (who approved those names, really now) and Ai Ninomiya from Amanchu!. [via Dengeki]

  • Flare is a company with a ton of potential: they make beautiful figures with some unique concepts. But their prices are so fucking high, like old Yamato, that I always kind of shy away from them. Their WonFest lineup is going to make that pretty hard, though. They had some beautiful sculpts out: the dynamic Samurai from 7th Dragon, the super-cute Noah, Halloween Caster, the gorgeous Houkago no Pleiades duo, and the Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm catgirls. Then there are so many announcements! Some of them, like the naked Gwendolyn, are a little weird. But then we have Saber Bride, 2 Tony Taka girls, Jeanne d’Arc, Akari from Aria, Oswald from Odin Sphere, and Taiga Kougami from King of Prism. [via figsoku]

  • How many prize fairs are there even in a year? 4? 6? One every damn month? Sometimes it seems like that. I keep trying to swear off prize figures: they’re great quality for the price, but I already have so many expensive scaled figures and I am quickly running out of storage room. Or rather, I ran out a long time ago and just come up with more and more creative solutions. Yet somehow I keep coming back to prize figures. I can’t resist them! This batch seems particularly good. We have more of the Madoka x Bakemonogatari line, new Kantai Collection girls, more Evangelion (of course), a strange lack of Miku Hatsune, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] Added Eikoh’s Puzzle & Dragons girls! [via Hobbylog & Dengeki]
