  • There are quite a few figures of Saber Bride out there. I already own three: AlphaMax, Medicom, and Good Smile, and I was fairly certain that would be more than enough for me. But apparently not, because Hobby Max has just unveiled a Bride figure sculpted by Kiking that is beyond my wildest dreams for a figure of her. With an amazing base, intricate details, and a unique pose, this Bride has it all–though her eyes are golden, which is a bit odd. What happened to the green? It’s also a pretty mysterious figure. We have a release date (August) and know pre-orders are open tonight, but she’s also linked to a Chinese kickstarter and appears to be an exclusive. Though hey, in this day and age that won’t stop any figure collector! The price, though, might just do that… [UPDATE] It seems there are two versions of this beauty! The DX one with the base is exclusive, so you will need a proxy for her. There’s also a standard edition with a simpler base available at most figure stores. However, their price is the same, so you’ll only pay about 2k more in proxy fees if you get the special edition. Tempting! [via Hobby Max’s Twitter]

  • Flare is a company with a ton of potential: they make beautiful figures with some unique concepts. But their prices are so fucking high, like old Yamato, that I always kind of shy away from them. Their WonFest lineup is going to make that pretty hard, though. They had some beautiful sculpts out: the dynamic Samurai from 7th Dragon, the super-cute Noah, Halloween Caster, the gorgeous Houkago no Pleiades duo, and the Ao no Kanata no Four Rhythm catgirls. Then there are so many announcements! Some of them, like the naked Gwendolyn, are a little weird. But then we have Saber Bride, 2 Tony Taka girls, Jeanne d’Arc, Akari from Aria, Oswald from Odin Sphere, and Taiga Kougami from King of Prism. [via figsoku]

  • How many prize fairs are there even in a year? 4? 6? One every damn month? Sometimes it seems like that. I keep trying to swear off prize figures: they’re great quality for the price, but I already have so many expensive scaled figures and I am quickly running out of storage room. Or rather, I ran out a long time ago and just come up with more and more creative solutions. Yet somehow I keep coming back to prize figures. I can’t resist them! This batch seems particularly good. We have more of the Madoka x Bakemonogatari line, new Kantai Collection girls, more Evangelion (of course), a strange lack of Miku Hatsune, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] Added Eikoh’s Puzzle & Dragons girls! [via Hobbylog & Dengeki]

  • Volks used to have a pretty decent PVC presence. They had a specific PVC line, and while it was exclusive (and prone to insane delays) they produced some very nice things. Especially the ToHeart 2 line, which had particularly fantastic figures of Tamaki & Sasara. But they’ve all but abandoned those, putting all their efforts into the CharaGumin line: which is like garage kits without any of the benefit of garage kits. They’re pre-painted resin, so they’re easy to assemble, but the paint jobs are pretty basic (nothing like the promo shots) so you need to do work on them anyway. But the sculpts are stuff you could get in PVC anyway, and don’t have any of the intricacies we see in the great gks. But, apparently, they’re popular enough to churn out a bunch because they sure did show some off at Hobby Round 15. From a decent Saber Bride to a terrifying (but seasonal) Super Pochaco, there’s something for everyone who feels like emptying their wallets! [via Dengeki]

  • It’s time for your monthly mediocre magazine scans! It’s been well over a year, and I’m not over how lackluster they are now. Because once again, it’s almost all MegaHouse! Okay, we do have some Volks stuff this time, including a brand-new Saber Bride for their overpriced CharaGumin line that makes me angry. It’s like “wow, that sculpt is awesome… too bad it’s going to be insanely expensive and look terrible without lots of paint detail work!” SIGH. Okay, the MegaHouse stuff! Most excitingly, Pokemon’s James is painted to go along with Jessie. And he has a little Meowth! Plus, he’s a standard release (thank god). We also have figures from Gintama, One Piece, Gundam Reconguista in G, Shinrabanshou Chocolate, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [via takezo1101]

  • Miyazawa Model Exhibition is one of those “in-between” events. Nestled right in the middle of Summer WonFest and Fall MegaHobby, it’s a chance for companies to… not really show off much new. Let’s be honest, they save the big stuff for the big event, so we don’t get a ton of news from Miyazawa. But Good Smile Company & co brought, like, literally everything they’re working on (that we know about). Just a TON of stuff. Most of it was things we knew about, but we do have some updates: their lovely Felia is finally painted (and, well, no as pretty as I expected), Nendoroid Sheeda from Fire Emblem is finished, figma Yugi showed up, and basically we got a ton of other paint updates. The star of the show was definitely Mebae Miku: hopefully her orders open soon! [via Akibahobby]

  • Saber Bride is one of Saber’s many, many variations, but it’s the hot one right now. It seems like the figure world is always a few games behind when it comes to Saber designs, doesn’t it? Extra figures were coming out when everybody was buzzing about Bride, and now that there’s a newer Saber… it’s time for a million Brides! I actually own two already, AlphaMax and Medicom, but there’s always room for more right? I have loved GSC’s older Saber figures, like their Alter and Lily, but I found their Saber Extra really disappointing and wasn’t really that excited for Bride. But I have to admit, she looks lovely! I love that we finally have a zipped-top version of her, and the pose is strong and confident. There’s so much detail in her outfit (including, of course, the butt-window) and her face is gorgeous. Orders open tonight! [via Kahotan]

  • Good Smile once again came out swinging at Wonder Festival with a truly amazing number of figures, most of which already look fantastic! The one not-surprise is the painted Kiss-Shot, who we already knew was coming, but that doesn’t make me any less excited. I can finally finish my Monogatari set! Then we’ve got all the “really real news.” Least surprisingly, there will be two new Sabers: a second Saber Bride (maybe with a zipped-up dress?) and a Saber Alter designed by huke that looks out of this world amazing. That armor! There’s also, of course, a new Miku. Their Homura to match that dynamic Madoka is sculpted, and we have an (art) update of Sawamura Spencer Eriri. Out of left field there’s a Puzzle & Dragon figure of Hera-Ur, along with Utaha Kasumigaoka from Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata and PriPara‘s Lala Manaka. Announcements? We’ve got those too! They’ll be making a Devil Version of Amira from Shingeki no Bahamut, Kaori Miyazono from Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, and finally Collete Livie from God Burst. But what about Kantai Collection? Well there’s a weird bust of Kongou and also a painted figure of Shigure. Phew! [UPDATE] As mentioned in the comments, they’ll be doing a Medusa version of Nadeko! [via GSC]

  • Primal Heart is a rather small garage kit company. They don’t make many sculpts, but the ones they do have an undeniable wow factor. Gorgeous, crisp sculpting and fantastic true-to-the-art faces. They tend to focus primarily on the Fate/Stay Night girls… or Saber. Kind of only Saber. And for last Treasure Festa, they had the most gorgeous Saber Extra I’ve seen (so far). Since both their Saber Lily and Pajama Saber got picked up, and by different companies to boot, I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that this will get a PVC production. I mean, it’s not even just their Saber figures that get PVC love: Alter’s Senran Kagura Asuka? Yup, that’s a Primal Heart sculpt. But for now let’s just wait patiently and drool over this amazing gallery. [via One Knight Stands]

  • Are the AlphaMax, Good Smile, and Clayz Saber Brides not enough for you? Need more bondage bride in and around your life? Well don’t despair, there are more on the way! Probably a lot of unannounced stuff too, but right now we’re talking about something I hoped and dreamed for: a PVC version of the Sakura Zensen garage kit! I know the sculpt has obvious issues (gravity defying boobs & turret spine) but I am so in love with her floating pose and gorgeous colors & details that I am actually going to put aside nitpicking for once. Apparently Medicom is going to be the manufacturer, and even though she is on the small side (9″ tall, apparently even with the base!) I am scared of the pricing. [via AmiAmi’s Blog]
