We knew there would be at least one new Fate/Stay Night Nendoroid at Wonder Festival since Mikatan had already teased Saber Alter, but it seems like we are getting way more than I expected! Of course the Saber Extra Nendoroid, which recently went up for order, is here as well, but there are two new announcements–Saber Bride… and Gilgamesh! A GUY!
And as you can see in the other side of the display, it’s more than just Nendoroids. Good Smile Company or one of their umbrella companies (please be Max Factory) is picking up the garage kit I adore of Pajama Saber, and it seems like they also have the new sculpt out for figma Archer! We’ll update with new pics as soon as we ha have them.
[UPDATE] Updated with clearer pictures!

There was a time when Saber from Fate/Stay Night (and its many incarnations) was the undisputed queen of the figure world. Don’t get me wrong, she still gets a fair share of figures, but things have definitely tapered off. So when PLUM announced a unique looking Saber Maid at Wonder Festival, it wasn’t met with a collective groan and “oh god not more Saber” but rather with “oh this looks interesting.” She popped up recently in magazine scans looking nice, but you can never really tell with those grainy pictures.
Of course PLUM is a novice company, so many were worried about the final outcome. We’re getting a peek at the final prototype now, and she looks surprisingly awesome! PLUM has produced some decent figures in the past but this Saber looks leaps and bounds better than anything they’ve worked on. The only wonky bit is her feet, which are just a hair too long. But the pose is adorable, the face is dead on, and I love the base! Plus it appears that she has no pegs, so you can use the base for other figures. Let’s just hope she is affordable!

We just saw this figure at MegaHobby Expo, but here she is again–all in promo pictures and ready for orders which open on the 29th! Oops, I usually save that info for the end so you read through my ramblings. Oh well. Anyway, if you’re still here, I’m quite enamored with this figure despite some of the criticism it’s getting (which is mainly that we have too many Sabers).
Okay, so the main criticism-that this looks too much like the Wave Beach Queen-is perfectly legitimate. Of course at 1/6 scale this version is twice as big and twice as detailed. Pretty much everything I prefer on the Alter version. The pose, the outfit, the hair, the bow, the icepop, it’s all just better! Except for the face, which I’ll admit Wave got just a bit cuter. But I guess Alter isn’t exactly supposed to be endearing, is she?

I’ll admit, when we first got word that Alter would be doing a swimsuit version of Saber Alter I wasn’t exactly happy. I mean, it’s the same swimsuit and almost the same pose as the Wave Beach Queen. Sure, it’s Alter so the quality will be a million times better and she’s a generous 1/6 scale, but do I really need a big swimsuit Alter in my life?
After seeing her painted, turns out the answer is yes! Who would have thought that I’d be craving yet another Saber after feeling almost worn out by so many of them. But I do love Alter almost as much as Lily, and the sulky pose combined with her pale white skin really is lovely. We should see orders soon, since she’s slated for a fall release.

Alter sure does love their Sabers. It seems like they have endless variations of her at every event, and we’ve got two at Wonder Festival. One is new: a bikini figure of Saber Alter that looks suspiciously like Wave’s Beach Queen. Same art? Either way, I’m disappointed: this is not the Saber I wanted, Alter!
Then we have their Saber Lily, looking lovely painted. Even though I have the garage kit, I can’t wait for orders to open up!

You know, we’ve been really up to date with our loot posts recently, getting them done right after boxes come in. Well, technically we got to July as soon as possible. AmiAmi decided to combine half of our July with our August stuff–the end of August to boot, so we had to wait a whole month for some of these beauties! Of course, we’re never really in a huge rush to get figures–we prefer to get them in small batches, so I can open one at a time and admire them all individually. So who did we get in our July order? Hit the jump to find out!

The Fate/Stay Night franchise has a ton of characters, but it always seems like only a handful get figures. Saber and Rin in particular are wildly popular, but of course they’re not the only characters in the series! Good Smile Company is making a set based on the cast of Fate/Hollow Ataraxia, and it includes a ton of people: Caren Ortensia, Illyasviel von Einzbern, Bazett Fraga McRemitz, Taiga Fujimura, Leysritt, and Stetho. There are also the “main” (aka most popular) girls in maid gear: Saber Alter, Rin Tohsaka, Sakura Matou and Rider.
A single blind box should run you ¥500, though of course you can get a case that will contain all of the figures. There’s also a secret! Orders open the 10th.

Since I started collecting, Alter’s stunning 1/6 Saber Alter Maid has been one of the figures that got away. She was available at a reasonable price when I started out, but I wasn’t really deep into the PVC world and focused more on vinyl so I skipped over her due to the price. I also passed up Alter’s limited Yukiko for $97, which says a lot about my PVC toy judgement at that point!
So when we found out in magazine scans that she would be getting a re-release, I was ecstatic! We’re also getting the matching normal Saber Maid, who is already up for order, but Alter is a release limited to Hobby Channel. She retails for ¥8,000, an amazing price for a 1/6 scale figure, and I can’t believe they kept her original pricing! Orders are open until March 31st and will be released in July, though I expect most proxies will sell out far before the end of March due to how coveted this figure is. Orders aren’t open at the regular places yet, but we’ll update when she is available!

The pre-order period for Dollfie Dreams Saber Alter and Saber Extra has ended, but that doesn’t mean that Volks has stopped serving up lovely images of their new dolls! They recently had Saber Alter model the Night Blue set from the November Outfit Collection. This set is definitely my favorite of the bunch, and I want it even more after seeing these pictures!
They also had Illya modeling one of the MDD outfits, and she looks as adorable as you’d expect. MDDs in general are painfully cute, but putting them in fancy outfits really ups the cuteness levels. It’s like they are trying to act grown-up! However, the painful endeavor of posing MDDs puts me off buying too many outfits for them. We’ve gotten confirmation on a DDdy II, so hopefully the MDD is up next for a much-needed joint upgrade.
Saber Alter looks prettier and prettier the more I look at her, and I think she’ll be a great addition to any DD family. Of course some of us have a long time to wait–mine won’t arrive until June!
