  • Good Smile Company, Max Factory, and Blizzard Entertainment are on a roll over the last two years now with their Overwatch collaborations (Nendoroids of Tracer, Mercy, Mei, Genji, Hanzo, and D.Va and figmas of a whole bunch, with Genji being the last before her), and, the latest in figma D.Va is one of the most asked for additions to the line. Coming in her default blue and pink suit, D.Va comes with a bunch of accessories including her gun, a cell phone, soda, bubble gum, hat, and heart hands, allowing for a wide variety of poses and display styles. Sadly, no matching MEKA has been announced yet, but hey, even out of her mech D.Va can be a formidable foe. figma D.Va is up for pre-order now for ¥6,800 and orders close on October 18th, for a June 2019 release, so if you need to have her in your collection to add a bit of, “Nerf this!” then order soon! Pre-order At: AmiAmi | HLJ | Hobby Search | Big in Japan | Good Smile Company

  • Would it be a Wonder Festival without at least one Miku-centered post? Maybe in the year 2060, but this is 2018. And it’s still the Year of Miku in perpetuity. This time around we’re actually seeing a little bit less of her (and some other Vocaloids) from GSC & co, but still enough to satisfy fans! We have announcements for a scaled Racing Miku 2018 and a scaled Chinese V4 Miku from Good Smile, along with a new set of Rin & Len figures from Max Factory: the Stylish Energy L Versions. FREEing’s Thai Miku 2016 is (finally) painted, and we have two very exciting sculpts, both from GSC: the Chokabuki Kuruwa Kotoba Awase Kagami Miku (which is a bit… chunkier sculpt-wise than what I was expecting?), and the gorgeous Yoshiwara Lament Ver. of Kasane Teto. Last but not least there’s a figma of the Chinese V4X Miku and… a tiny little Racing Miku car! [UPDATE] As I predicted, we’re getting yet another version of the Tony Taka Racing Miku! [via whl4u]

  • You may be thinking, “Leah, 4 announcements isn’t really worth its own post!” To which I say, “shhh, let me have this moment.” Because do you know what we are getting? Did the header give it away? We’re getting a YUSUKE FIGMA. My beautiful husband can now be in my life to give me art advice. Oh, and figma Anne too! Both in their Phantom Thieves garb, of course. We also have two Nendoroid announcements: Futaba (in casual clothing) and the MC (in his Joker garb). I wonder why they’re in non-matching outfits? Maybe we will get two full lines of the whole cast?? Hey, a girl can dream. [via whl4u]

  • Few things go together as well (and often) as Good Smile Company and the Fate/Stay Night franchise. And of course they had a massive amount at this Wonder Festival, so let’s just dive right in! We’re getting Nendoroids of Merlin, Miyamoto Musashi, Ishtar, and Elizabeth Bathory, along with figmas of Rider of Black, Jeanne d’Arc Alter, and Saber of Red. Onto my favorite, the scales! Good Smile will be giving us Altria Pendragon (who looks stunning), Mash Kyrielight: Heroic Spirit Formal Dress Ver (what a short and concise name!), Mash Kyrielight ~Dangerous Beast~, and Altria Pendragon on a motorcycle. From Max Factory we will get Jeanne d’Arc Alter Dress Version and a soft vinyl Paul Bunyan (who is a Berserker–were they inspired by IT?). Last but not least, Orange Rouge is giving us two boys: Gilgamesh and the original Lancer! A little something for everyone, no? [via whl4u]

  • Winter Wonder Festival 2018 is right around the corner. That’s right, we are about a month away, because it’s on February 18th! Which means it’s about time for those very early event reveals. As per usual Good Smile Company & co are first on the scene with quite a few exclusives, although it seems like there are less than usual… at the moment. The website has quite a few empty spaces. As we all expected, the figma (¥5,556) and Nendoroid (¥5,556) of Snow Miku 2018 will be on sale. Look how cute she is!! Every year I get swept into the hype. We have another duo as well: the Bride and Groom figmas (¥4,167 each). This is such a cute idea, because you know everyone is just going to head-swap them with their OTPs. Last but not least is a school uniform version of Nendoroid Megumin (¥4,167). These will be obviously for sale physically at the event, and online right after doors close so all the international fans can grab some! Anything you want to pick up, Plastikitties? [via GSC]

  • Sometimes it feels like the years are just crawling by. Like, summer feels like it was so long ago! And yet, I also feel like I’m writing up news about the newest Snow Miku design constantly. So where is the truth? I’ve been on board with the 2018 Snow Miku design since the full art reveal, which was just packed with detail and personality. We’re getting the fully painted Nendoroid & figma reveal now, right before winter really hits, and I gotta say she looks adorable! The color balance is way off in the figma shot but the Nendoroid looks so vibrant. Perhaps a little less sculpting detail than what I expected, but definitely solid so far. Can’t wait to see the hood (and, of course, her bunny). [UPDATE] We have a picture of the hooded Nendoroid and it’s everything I dreamed it would be. [via Kahotan]

  • I have to say, I was not 100% sold on the reveal of Snow Miku 2018. It looked a little bland, and not quite as creative as some of the past designs. We’re finally getting a full art reveal for her and I must say, I’ve completely changed my tune! Maybe it’s the lovely atmosphere of this piece but I am smitten. We will, of course, be getting the usual Nendoroid & figma of her (expect a reveal of the figures closer to Wonder Festival), but this makes me desperate for a scale. I say that every year (and it never happens, except for the OG design, but just look at her! She’d make a really gorgeous PVC figure. Maybe from Max Factory? Pretty please? [via Piapro]

  • I think it came as a big surprise to all of us when Good Smile Company & co snagged the Overwatch license. But they’re really a perfect fit: we get both the cutesy Nendoroids and the articulated, true-to-model figmas. Combine that with Blizzard’s statues and there’s (almost) something for everyone. The figma line is moving along a bit slower than the Nendoroid one, but that’s to be expected: with the level of detail and articulation you get on a figma, you just can’t pump them out as quickly! And figma Genji is looking really amazing. Just look at that sexy robot body. Though technically he’s a cyborg, right? What character would you like to see next in the Overwatch figma (or Nendoroid) line? Personally, I want a Nendo Reaper something fierce. Let us know in the comments!

  • After the years upon years we waited for Persona 5, it’s only fair that we get an absolute metric ton of merchandise from it. I mean, I think at this point we have more P5 figures than P4... which is really saying something. I mean, the game just came out this year! In the US, at least. Waiting for translations is so annoying. Of course Max Factory was one of the first companies to jump on the P5 hype train. After all, based god MF is the one who gave us a P3 figma. So far we only have Joker in the lineup, but he comes with a little Morgana so it’s kind of like two for the price of one! I’m considering putting Morgana on my alarm clock to give me even less of a reason to wake up. I mean, just imagine it: you roll over in the morning to hit your alarm and are faced with the “it’s time for bed” cat. What’s one more hit of the snooze, right?

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!
