@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Bandai’s current obsession with Sailor Moon has meant a veritable Christmas haul of figures for us desperate fans, but what most of us want most is scaled Senshi–sure, the S.H.Figuarts, Chibi-Arts and trading figures are nice, but we want a huge Usagi we can display with pride! The sculpt of her that Bandai showed off looked awesome, though the paint left me wanting a little more pizazz.
To be honest she does’t look much better here: it’s not a bad figure, but it’s lacking the paint quality you’d expect from a better company. She’s a bit… flat looking. But at this point I’ll take what I can get! Except the price is killer: ¥8,800 for a figure not even 8 inches tall. But at least she’s a March release, so we have a while to save up! Also, there’s apparently some controversy over her underwear, which is a bit scandalous for a shoujo show… but come on, she’s in a like 5″ long skirt that she gets naked to put on. Sailor Moon always had an element of fanservice: does no one remember the outfits of the evil circus girls?!

When I was a little girl I had these cutout paper dolls of Sailor Moon and all the Inner Senshi that a friend and I used to play with. This was way before Sailor Moon was dubbed and brought over to the US–I lived in NYC, so tons of stores in Chinatown imported this stuff before Sailor Moon got big. And what that friend and I wanted more than anything else was a big, beautiful figure of Sailor Moon. I thought my prayers were finally answered when Bandai and Volks collaborated and showed us that jaw-dropping sculpt… but it seems like I got my hopes up a bit too high.
Bandai is not known for their scaled figures, and there’s a good reason for that. Their painting skills blow. Apparently they don’t think shading is a thing, which is sadly apparent on Usagi. They took a gorgeous sculpt and made it look incredibly cheap. And the kicker? She’s ¥8,800. Thanks, Bandai!

Bandai’s been popping out their S.H.Figuarts from Sailor Moon like there’s no tomorrow, so I was a little worried they would forget about the ChibiArts line… let alone the fact that they could do other things with the license. Like, uh… scaled figures.
WELL HERE IT IS FOLKS, the moment you’ve all been waiting for. Bandai is doing a Figuarts ZERO of Sailor Moon! And if you are thinking “holy crap this looks way too good for Bandai” well indeed it does, because Volks is somehow involved. How? Why? Who cares! We’re all going to get her anyway even if we have to sell our souls or sacrifice a few cows.

Welcome to two months of loot in one! Actually it’s kind of three: as you may or may not have noticed, we didn’t have a August loot post either. It’s a long story, but basically AmiAmi has been smushing our orders together oddly so we get things late (but some early–most of our October was here before the September items). So some August items squeaked their way in! Hit the jump to get started on our most action-packed loot post yet.

Bandai knows by now that they can milk their fans for a whole lot of money. They make seemingly half of their items exclusives, and a good chunk of the ones that go up in regular stores end up hyper-limited. Especially when it comes to Tiger & Bunny! Now, though, they’re pushing fan loyalty a bit far with an exclusive bundle of five figures in the ‘Barnaby Birthday Set.’ Yes, five. On the larger end of things we’ve got the Figuarts ZERO Kotetsu T. Kaburagi ‘Eyepatch Version’ and the S.H.Figuarts Prototype Suit. Then there’s the child version Chibi-Arts of Barnaby himself, which we saw at Tamashii Nations.
Last and, yeah, kind of least are Deformeister Petits of Kotetsu and Barnaby. All this for the low low price of ¥12000! Oh, and it’s limited to Amazon Japan, which doesn’t ship figures internationally so yes, you are going to need a proxy. The life of a Tiger & Bunny fan is suffering!

To wrap up our Tamashii Nations coverage, we’ve got the scaled side of things! Bandai really focuses more on action figures, but they do put out a few cheaper, smaller-scale pre-painted figures in their Figuarts ZERO line. We’ve got all the teased Magi – Labyrinth of Magi Figuarts (and more!): Aladdin, Sinbad, Alibaba Saluja, Judai, and Morgiana. There’s also a Half-Age Character line in the shot you can see!
There’s a few other assorted figures, many of which we saw at Dengeki’s 20th like the Senran Kagura girls. However, we have a new addition too: the lovely Yumi from Shinovi Versus! Last, we’ve got a red recolor of their adorable Ranka Lee to go with that blue Sheryl.

So Tamashii Nations isn’t actually happening for another day, but we’re getting news early. Apparently everything is all set up and Bandai is taking news leaks into their own hands: first we saw Sailor Moon, and now we’re getting some new Smile Precure! figures. Okay, not as exciting as Sailor Moon, but still adorable.
It seems we’ll be getting some scaled figures (probably Figuarts ZERO) of Cure Peace and Kise Yayoi. We’ve gotten lots of action figures from this franchise but not many pre-painted, so it’s a nice change of pace for Bandai.
[UPDATE] Dengeki brought us a nice up-close shot of the static figure, along with news of both a S.H.Figuarts AND a Chibi-Arts of Cure Peace!

Bandai is holding a Tamashii Nations event in only a few days, but apparently they have a lot of goodies stored up for it and had reveals to spare at Dengeki’s 20th Anniversary! They had quite a few of their scaled Figuarts ZERO line on display, starting with four cuties from Senran Kagura. Well, none of these are really new: in fact we saw them at Tamashii Nations 2011! Asuka, who went up for order quite some time ago, is getting two recolors: one pink, one blue. And Yomi, who vanished after the event, is still on track to be produced!
Then we’ve got two AKB0048 figures: Nagisa Motomiya, who is already up for order, and the newly announced Chieri Sono! Chieri is just gorgeous, and while Nagisa wasn’t my stripe I really love her serene expression and blue hair. Knowing my luck (and Bandai’s lack of continuity) she’ll be an exclusive.

Tamashii Nations 2012 takes place on October 26th, and while Bandai usually isn’t one for pre-event teasers they have some prepared this time around. Mainly, of a batch of figures from the show Magi – Labyrinth of Magic! The teaser features Alibaba Saluja, Aladdin, and Sinbad, most likely as Figuarts ZERO though it seems like the Chibi-Arts and Half Age Character lines are on the table as well. The show has a pretty big cast and Bandai just loves to milk their licenses, so I’m sure these won’t be the only 3 characters we’re getting… or the only 3 types of figures, even.

Bluefin, Bandai’s North America distributor, attends pretty much every major convention with lots of goodies in tow! For New York Comic Con they had many D-Arts and Figuarts ZERO on display from their most popular licenses like Persona 4, Tiger & Bunny, and One Piece along with some of their very large Star Wars figures and more. It was great to see some of these in person before they hit shelves, especially Izanagi-no-Okami who I have been really looking forward to! Check them all out in the gallery.
