@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Flandre Scarlet Archive

Aquamarine’s very first figure was of Nue Houjuu, but after that they seemed to take a step back from the Touhou girls and worked more on the more neglected Vocaloids. Well, now they are returning to their roots–even though, you know, it was only like a year ago that Nue went up for order. But whatever! Cause these new ladies are awesome! First is the header figure, which is a totally spectacular Utsuho Reiuju, who is finally getting the awesomeness she deserves. And I don’t care what it costs, as long as I can have it!
Then we’ve got a trio of cute, smaller figures. Well, a duo and one single figure. There’s an almost-chibi Flandre and Remilia Scarlet, looking as awesome as they always do. It’s a different take on the sisters, and I love it! Then there’s a super-chibi Hina Kagiyama, who should hopefully have a small price to match her small size.

We seem to be having a dearth of Touhou Project’s Flandre Scarlet recently! There’s the two versions from ques Q: ferociously demonic Flandre and super cute Flandre. Then there’s Orchid Seed’s version, or rather their PVC version of Glemo’s garage kit. While ques Q’s Halloween Flan is mighty cute, this one takes the cake on sweet: probably since it is literally covered in sweets, from the donut in her mouth to the macaron she is balancing on.
While she’s a bit pricey for her tiny scale, I am totally in love with this version of her! And as cute as the donut-in-mouth thing is, I really do adore her face without it in. How am I going to choose how to display her?! Of course I could solve this dilemma by buying two, but then I would have to find more space for her…

It’s that time again–time for another batch of exclusive Touhou recolors from Griffon! As always there’s a few hits but mostly misses, though I must say this time around there are quite a few hits at least for me. Most of these recolors, as always, have been seen at past events but five of them are new–we’ve got a black recolor of the new Sakuya, a red & blue recolor of Parsee, a mocha recolor of loli Yukari, a paler version of the newest Flandre and a purple Tenshi.
Of these, I actually would love to own three of them–especially mocha Yukari and black Sakuya! And oh man that purple Tenshi is to die for. Not to mention the rose & black Kasen, who was announced previously though this will be her first release. Griffon used to be known for painfully bad recolors but it seems they are trying a lot harder recently! The event will take place on May 27th if you happen to be in Japan and are interested in some lovely recolors!

Every time I look at this figure I smile. I am so used to super cutesy or overly sexy that I’ve almost forgotten that characters can indeed be something besides adorable or seductive. In fact, they can be many things: but crazy is probably my favorite. So of course I am charmed beyond belief by ques Q’s take on Flandre Scarlet, the psychotic vampire from Touhou Project. She’s gotten a lot of figures in the past but most of them show her as either cutesy or passive which she is definitely not.
Sure, this figure has a cute face but it also has AMAZING CRAZY FACE. Ques only gave us a shot or two of it before but this great gallery from AmiAmi really shows us the full glory of psycho face. And I am loving it! More crazy Flan, please!

Welcome to the return of the roundup! Sadly we here at Plastikitty got hit by a nasty spring flu so we’ve been out of commission in terms of the roundup for a few weeks, but now we’re back in business! Though technically it’s the roundup for the week of 3/29~4/4 we’re also featuring some of the best figures from the week before as well.
So what do we have in store? Tons of pretty ladies! In fact we’ve got releases from almost all the major manufacturers, including some that I have been really looking forward to. Check them all out after the jump!

Touhou Projec’s Flandre Scarlet is pretty much known for being bonkers. Her sister locked her in a basement for decades, can you really blame her? But all the figures of her seem surprisingly cheerful, presenting us with a carefree and happy Flan. Maybe it’s… before she got locked in the basement? In any case, all the fans want an angry Flandre so we were thrilled when ques Q showed one off at Wonder Festival.
This Flandre comes with two swappable torsos: happy and totally bonkers, just the way we like it. She’s also got an awesome pose and looks gorgeous, but like every Touhou figure she’s overpriced at ¥10000. This is due to licensing, and she’ll also be an exclusive (but AmiAmi will stock her). Well, even with that pricetag there is no way I am passing her up! Plus her release is way off in November.

Magazine scans always take me by surprise. Well, most of the time anyway. It’s funny, because I know they are the same night every month yet somehow I forget! So I’m just sitting around, minding my own business and indulging in sappy tv shows when BAM suddenly scans!
This month we’ve got a whole lot from MegaHouse, including a brand new boy! To be honest it’s not the most action-packed month but of course there are lots of goodies to be had. Check them all out after the jump!

Ques Q sure does love the Touhou Project girls! In fact, at least a third of their releases seem to be from the games, and at Wonder Festival they had a whole lot of Touhou goodies on display. Fully scaled figures, of course, but also some absolutely adorable chibis of Flandre and Remilia, the vampire sisters. Based on an adorable piece of art, these figures show off the duo in fitting Halloween gear.
While I am a huge Flan fan, the Remilia in this set is the one that won me over. I love the flowers coming out of the pumpkin and her face is to die for cute! Of course Flandre is looking good too with a pumpkin wrapped up and ready for eating. Each one is a bit steep at ¥4600, and you can get both in a set for ¥10,000. Ouch! They’re only 4″ high so that is definitely pricey, but the good news is they come out in October. That’s right, they’ll arrive just in time for Halloween!

What’s this, a totally safe for work offering from Orchid Seed?! Not even in a swimsuit or with a short skirt? How strange, but when it was announced that they would be picking up Gleemo’s Touhou kits fans agreed that it was a welcome change. Especially given how coveted this sculpt in particular was! And now that AmiAmi has wrapped up their issues with Orchid, we’ll actually be able to order her–since, like every single Touhou figure, she will be an exclusive.
I absolutely adore this Flan, though my current favorite sculpt of her has to be ques Q’s, I just love her psycho face. This focuses more on her cute side! And the rainbow wings are just to die for. Orders open on the 8th. My only regret is that she does not come on the macaroon base like the original!
[UPDATE] We now have full promotional shots of this cutie–and yes, the donut is removable if you want to see her whole face! She is also very reasonably priced at ¥7,800 with a release way off in October.

We already saw what underdog company ques Q had to offer at Wonder Festival, but they had so many amazing figures it can’t hurt to take a second look! Especially since so many of them are from popular game franchises. I’m sure what interests our readers the most are the two figures from Persona 3: Aegis in her school uniform and Elizabeth, who is based on a garage kit.
Persona isn’t the only franchise being represented: we also have quite a bit of Touhou Project! First and foremost is the amazing Flandre who will come with a crazy face (FINALLY)! She’ll also be getting a Halloween-themed chibi along with Remilia. Yuuka also showed up, though she is getting released soon. And then there’s Percival from Eiyuu*Senki who I am head over heels with, and last (and, yes, least for me) is a swimsuit version of Taiga: though I don’t think it holds a candle to their Tiger or Bunny versions of her.
