Food Wars Archive

  • Mito Ikumi from Food Wars has definitely been gaining in popularity! At first it was just Erina getting figures, but so far we’ve had Kotobukiya’s Mito, an announcement from Max Factory, and now one from Alter! Some of my absolute favorite companies, so it’s a good day for me. Of course, as exciting as this is I’m really hoping they aren’t all in the bikini & shorts outfit. Of course it’s not like she really wears much more than that but still, a girl can dream. This version will be 1/7 scale and I assume we’ll see the sculpt at MegaHobby or Summer Wonder Festival. • While Shokugeki no Souma has gotten a decent amount of figure attention, we haven’t seen a lot of Mito Ikumi. There’s the Kotobukiya figure of her, and um… yeah, that’s pretty much it. Which is interesting, because personally I think her design is a lot more interesting than Erina’s. But then again, I really like tan girls. Especially when they have ‘Murica bikinis and butcher knives. Well, she’s finally getting (some) of the attention she deserves! After that amazing GSC Erina, we’re getting a follow up from Max Factory of Mito. No word on what art they’ll be basing it off of, or even the scale, but I trust MF to give us a gorgeous final product (and hopefully show her off at Wonder Festival). [via Shonen Jump]

  • Miyazawa Model Exhibition is one of those “in-between” events. Nestled right in the middle of Summer WonFest and Fall MegaHobby, it’s a chance for companies to… not really show off much new. Let’s be honest, they save the big stuff for the big event, so we don’t get a ton of news from Miyazawa. But Good Smile Company & co brought, like, literally everything they’re working on (that we know about). Just a TON of stuff. Most of it was things we knew about, but we do have some updates: their lovely Felia is finally painted (and, well, no as pretty as I expected), Nendoroid Sheeda from Fire Emblem is finished, figma Yugi showed up, and basically we got a ton of other paint updates. The star of the show was definitely Mebae Miku: hopefully her orders open soon! [via Akibahobby]

  • We have seen quite a few figures of Shokugeki no Souma‘s Erina, but all of them have been kind of, well, dull. Or swimsuit figures. For a character from a cooking show. So I was really, really looking forward to Good Smile Company’s version of her that they unveiled at Wonder Festival, since it was pretty much flawless. I mean, the pose, the throne, what’s not to love? Now she’s surprise-painted, and looks just as stunning as you’d imagine. The expression is just to die for–she knows she’s better than you and isn’t afraid to show it. And the hair! The dress! I’m just in love with all of it. Except for the creepy ghost hand that you can have cradle her shoe, which is 2creepy4me. Her price is an insanely reasonable ¥11,574 given that with the throne she is 11 inches tall. Now we just have to wait to find out if she’s going to just be on the GSC website… though honestly, her price is low enough that I’d order her anywhere. [via Kahotan]

  • You know what there’s a lack of in the figure world? Tan and darker-skinned girls. They seem to be (slightly) common in anime, but they rarely get figures. Because companies would rather make 20,000 figures of the generic main girl (not like I’m bitter or anything!). Thankfully we have Kotobukiya bucking the trend with their figure of Mito from Food Wars, who went up for order a few weeks ago. We have tons of Erina, but this is the only (non-prize) figure of Mito! I mean, she’s got Yoko’s bikini top, short shorts, and a cleaver–sounds like a recipe for success. What’s not to love?
