@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

I’ve been pretty vocal about my dislike of the existing figures of Medaka Kurokami from Medaka Box. I think her character design has a lot of potential if executed right, but the MegaHouse version had an iffy paintjob and the boobs on the Max Factory one were just… kind of frightening.
Well, now FREEing is taking a crack at her and while that would usually be my cue to roll my eyes I actually think so far she looks… good. I know, right?! But the sculpt is so crisp, and they’ve taken the main focus off her rather voluminous chest while still keeping her curvy figure. Oh, and she’s 1/4… so there’s that.

What is it, BlazBlue week over here? Or rather, Mu-12 week since she seems to be the only character from the game getting figures. First Alter announced a figure of her, and now we’re getting another one–FREEing is repainting their version in a totally awesome red and black color scheme.
At this point I’m just so annoyed that I ordered the first FREEing one–I’d much rather have the Alter version in her regulr colors and the FREEing one in this darker, moodier color scheme! But alas, I have Mu-12 #1 on order… and apparently might be getting (at least) 2 more.

It’s been a long time since we had a messy batch of scans. In fact I’d almost forgotten what it was like to get terrible cellphone shots with half the page bent inward instead of the usual neat, flat scans–which of course means it’s the perfect time for it to happen again! Seriously, these scans suck. Also there are like… no good figures in them. We’ve got Kotobukiya’s Leafa, who we’ve seen, Belphegor who is another sculpt we’ve seen…, and AlphaMax’s Viola. That’s pretty much it for the excitement quota.
But of course there are other figures! FREEing has their Kono Naka ni Hitori, Imouto ga Iru! line painted, and Amakuni’s Aisha is getting a repaint. There are tons of Yamato ladies from MegaHouse and they’ve added Takane as their next IDOLM@STER girl, and there’s the Charles D’Artagnan from Queen’s Gate who is so horribly tacky I want to cry. MegaHouse also showed off their Amy, and we’ve got figma Chihaya and two new Ultraseven/Ultraman figures from Plex: Metron Seijin and Zetton.
We’ve also got some pretty big news from Griffon: they’ll be working on a large chunk of the cast from Rozen Maiden! Shinku, Hina Ichigo, Suigintou, Kanaria, Suiseseki, Souseiseki, and Kirakishou will ALL be getting figures. I feel like they’ve found something to replace the Touhou line…

When Good Smile Company & Co announced their September delays, I’m sure we were all thinking the same thing. Hey, that’s not so bad! Could be much worse, right? Well this is Good Smile we’re talking about. So not only could it be worse–it’s gonna be worse. Oh yeah, we’ve got more coming. Not a whole lot more, but enough to make me let out an audible sigh. And unlike most of them, only one is getting bumped back to October–Max Factory’s Nyaruko.
The others are pushed way back to November! Ugh, I don’t even want to think about snowy weather. And holidays. Uuugh. Anyway, the figures getting hit with delays are the newest figma Guts, FREEings Mei Misaki, Mu-21, & FREEing’s Marie Mamiya. Not so bad, especially since I’m sure a few of thouse *cough*FREEingfiguresasidefromMu12*cough* weren’t on a ton of people’s order lists. But Nyaruko, noooo!

Another month, another set of magazine scans! But this is no ordinary month, oh no. We’ve got a roller coaster ride of emotions going on here. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you’ll rip out your hair, you will sob with joy at a particular announcement from MegaHouse. Or, well, I did. (Not really because crying about figures is a little weird but my soul wept at a certain sculpt here. You’ll know which one when you get to it QUEEN’S GATE I WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU.)
So hit the jump to see what all the fuss is about! And, you know, to see if any of this month’s ladies catch your eye.

Do you like yukatas? Do you like pretty girls in yukaas? How about… sets of pretty girls in yukatas? THEN MAN OH MAN IS FREEing THE COMPANY FOR YOU. Thought the just announced set of Soniko pals was enough? Wrong. What about the Madoka set? I mean, she is here and painted, along with the Homura sculpt? WRONG. What about the Fate/Stay Night ones, I mean we haven’t seen Saber Alter yet! Oops well they forgot about her. But we DO have: Tamaki Kousaka; Inori; Nagi from Kannagi; Fate, Nanoha & Hayate (announced); Sasami Tsukuyomi and Mashiro Shiina. All. In. Yukatas.
BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE. Yagyu Jubei (colored!), Rin, Len & Kaito (BOYS?!) in Senbonzakura gear (announced, no sculpts), Percival from Eiyuu*Senki (announced), Kaworu Nagisa (sculpted, uhnf), Rei Ayanami (announced), bunnygirl Rias Gremony (sculpted & huge), the ribbon gals from Kono Naka ni Hitori (painted), Akiho Senomiya (sculpted) and Akiko Himenokouji (sculpted) along with all the Sword Art Online figures. Holy crap FREEing, slow it down a little! Also, that Tama-nee. Be still, my heart.
[UPDATE] Saber Alter is indeed sculpted, but wsas marked DNF so we can’t show her off.

It’s been a good Wonder Festival for Miss Soniko. First her Orchid Seed cheerleader figure got painted, then Alter (FINALLY) gave her the figure we all know she deserves, and now FREEing is taking on the busty idol again (though hopefully this version will be more successful than Bunny Boob Monstrosity).
This time she will be in a yukata, and will be joined by her bandmates Suzu Fujimi (the raven-haired almost loli) and Fuuri Watanuki (whose bosom is terrifyingly bigger than Soniko’s). Don’t mess it up this time, FREEing! Also, what is up with FREEing and yukata sets? This is the third one!

I thought it was a little weird that Good Smile Company took so long to jump on the Sword Art Online license. I mean, the show is so damn popular and figures of the characters just fly off the shelves! Well… turns out they wanted to just throw like a million friggin figures in our face at once. I mean seriously, what the hell. What. The. Hell.
*Deep Breath* We’ve got THREE Asunas. The painted one is from FREEing, the sitting one is from Max Factory, and the standing one is from Good Smile Company. The Leafa at the far right is Penguin Parade and the second one is from Wing. Then we’ve got a Silica and Suguha Kiriyaga from FREEing. Phew! But all that and no Kirito?

Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen.
So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

One of the best things about Wonder Festival is the anticipation. It’s like Christmas: what will be under the tree this year? Nitro+ thinks this is totally silly for some reason, and announces all the figures from their licenses well before the event. Booo! To no one’s surprise we are getting TONS of Soniko–but only from two companies, Wing and FREEIng. Wing will have two–a child version (whut) and a mouse version. I’m not sure if they mean mouse as in the animal or mouse as in based on one of her mousepads.
FREEing will also have two versions of her: a recolor of their 1/4 scale Bunny Soniko and… a yukata Soniko, which I have been waiting for FOREVER. Hopefully it’s based on the header art! As for the other Nitro+ licenses, we’ve got a figure of Muramasa from Wing which makes me very happy since I adore my MF version, and FREEing is taking on Soniko’s other bandmates: Suzu Fujimi and Fuuri Watanuki, both of whom will be in yukatas.
