  • As a company, MegaHouse absolutely bamboozles me. On one hand we have their cute, nostalgic, simple-but-well-made lines like their amazing Digimon and Pokemon figures, which were both out and about at MegaHobby. Then they bust out the occasional magnificent sculpt, like our header girl: Airi from Queen’s Blade! I cannot explain my excitement when I saw her: I always wanted a great Airi figure but assumed that time had come & gone long ago. But no, MegaHouse to the rescue! Then we have the other half of their line: the painfully tacky and often out-of-character girls, especially from beloved shows like Naruto and Dragonball Z. They’ve butchered so many of my faves. Just look at that Hinata. It hurts my soul. And I remember C.C in a lot more clothing, don’t you? The One Piece girls obviously fall into this category: the anatomy has gotten so bad that I kind of think it’s some big elaborate joke. The sculpting for this “side” of them is often simple to a fault and looks like it could have been from 8 years ago. Put Airi, the new Digimon boys, and that awful stripper pole Nami together: do they look like the same company? What is going on with MegaHouse?!?! [via moeyo]

  • While Kotobukiya tends to focus on more US-friendly comic/game/movie toys at comic conventions stateside, they never fully forget their anime & manga fans! This year they had quite a few beautiful sculpts, including the American debut of the gorgeous sculpt for Jabami Yumeko from Kakegurui. Just look at that hair! Also on display were the Fullmetal Alchemist boys, Joker from Persona 5 (who was just released and is in the mail on his way to me~), Victor from Yuri on Ice, and the new beach Lancer (who is definitely not Caster, totally different characters in the logic of Fate/world).

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Every Wonder Festival I think to myself “there can’t possibly be even more Nendoroids at the next WonFest.” Then, like magic, the Nendo Creep happens and we get at least 5-10 more than last year at the next event. It’s a plague, a really cute plastic plague. I think they’re multiplying on their own at this point. This year we have a bounty of Nendos, so let’s get into it. We’ve got Ariel, Astolfo, Mordred, Lina Inverse, Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei, Portal 2, KanColle, Meitantei Conan, Beatrice from Re;Zero, Wonder Woman, Overwatch, Mega Man, The Snack World, Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and so much more. They are all named in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. And don’t forget we’ve already seen Nendos from Orange Rouge, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Vocaloid! Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life For You site and King Junker’s Twitter]

  • Anime Expo is one of the few US conventions where we actually get toy news from Japanese companies. I mean, you also have to be in LA in the middle of the summer, so there are pluses and minuses to actually going. Thankfully, we always get up-to-the minute updates from Good Smile & co so us plebes can see all the goodies they have out and about. This year we’ve got quite a bit from GSC. Previews of newly painted sculpts like the Bloodborne figma, Nendoroid Rapunzel, and Nendoroid Al. Plus we have some new brand new announcements, like Little Witch Academia Nendoroids. Check them all out in the gallery below! [via GSC’s Twitter]

  • Sometimes I feel like Wonder Festival should change its name to Nendoroid Festival. We’ve already seen a TON so far tonight: all the boys from Orange Rouge, Kantai Collection, IDOLM@STER, the Li announcement, and the new Link. But there are over 35 more to come. So let’s get right to it! We’ve got a Fate/Stay Night triple threat (Shielder, Caster, & Lancer), MetaKnight, Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, Macross Delta, Mazinger Z, Miku Hatsune, Mahou Tsukai no Yome, Biohazard, Boku no Hero Academia, High School Fleet, Touhou Project, Rockman.exe, Fire Emblem, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!, The King of Fighters (Mai, what a surprise!), Thunderbolt Fantasy, Madoka Magica, Girls und Panzer, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, and so much more. We also have the results of the Nendoroid request poll, which is why we got Li and Kiso. We’ll also be getting Edward Elric, Erwin Smith, and (finally) Holo! [via Wonderful Hobby Life]

  • For quite some time now, Kotobukiya’s ArtFX J line has been giving us terribly overlooked male figures from anime that happens to be quite popular stateside, like Yu-Gi-Oh, Yu Yu Hakusho, Pokemon, Cardcaptor Sakura, and tons more. So I guess this announcement should have been expected, but it’s still a pretty amazing reveal. That’s right, they’ll be taking on the boys of Fullmetal Alchemist, though maybe not quite who you would expect. We won’t be getting both brothers (yet), but Edward Elric and Roy Mustang. [via mfc]

  • June will be forever remembered as the month of Persona. While we got a lot of figures this month (a surprising amount, given how it was cheaper than most months!), we had nine (9!) Persona-related figure purchases. Of course there were a few characters not from the MegaTen universe… just a few. So hit the jump to check them out!

  • Much like January, our March order ended up coming in very late due to a mess-up on AmiAmi’s end. For some reason all of our March stuff was stuck together with April, creating a terrifying mega-order that nearly had our wallets jumping off a bridge. It took bout 2 weeks to get it all straightened out–which was particularly agony-inducing, as it was chock-full of figures we’d really been anticipating. So what exactly did we get for the first month of spring? Hit the jump to check it all out!
