The Pokemon Center in Japan always has amazing toys and merchandise that the rest of the world can only dream of owning. Their ‘Secret Teams’ line of figures is definitely something I’m sure every fan would snatch up if they had the chance: Pikachu in the outfits of every villainous team from the games! That Team Skull Pika is particularly adorable, though I am very partial to Flare.
Of course these are only available in the Pokemon Center, but there’s hope for those of us who don’t live in Japan. These cuties are easily available on auction sites like Yahoo Japan, and reseller Pokevault has the whole trading figure line up (for a price), along with plushes, stickers, and other assorted evil!Pika goodies. Gotta catch em all?

Ah MegaHouse, that company I love to hate. I sure do love how many nostalgic figures they make, and I sure do hate how the best ones are always exclusive. Like Angewomon and Angemon. And you know, given the detail, that these two will follow the same pattern. SIGH. But I’m still excited, just can’t contain the digihype.
We are finally getting my favorite ‘mon: Lady Devimon! Now that we have her and Angewomon, is Mastemon next up? I’d definitely pay proxy fees for that. We also have Dukemon Crimson Mode, whose sculpt looks pretty awesome so far.

While Persona 5 isn’t even out in the US yet (grumble grumble), it’s certainly reaching peak hype in Japan. And thus, it’s time for figures! We recently found out about Amakuni’s Anne, who was at the most recent Persona-themed event, along with Aquamarine’s Caroline and Justine who are newly sculpted.
Then we have some new figures! Phat! Company surprised us all by showing off two sculpts: the main character and Futaba Sakura! Which means we have figures of most of the girls, something that’s (still) not even true for 3 or 4.

At any event they attend, Good Smile Company and their numerous umbrella companies always steal the show. How can they not, with so much firepower? Of course Nendoroids were right at the forefront. Megumin, Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke, lots of KanColle (Hatsuzuki, Kiso, Pola), Caster Extra, Hajime Iwaizumi, and Boba Fett all made an appearance. And of course figmas too! We had Takao, Iowa, and Mumei on display.
Max Factory brought their new To LOVEru girl, Yuuki Mikan, and we had FREEing’s bunny Ryuuko Matoi. Last but not least, there’s Phat!’s Parform Hikari Karibuchi and Saber.
[UPDATE] Added a few stray figures!
[UPDATE 2] Added one last announcement: 22 Niang and 33 Niang from Bilibili!

So MegaHobby was, like, 3 days ago but apparently it’s totally time for another event to happen! Because all the companies not at MH had to do something with their time. First up is Vertex, aka “how do boobs work because I’ve never seen a human female.” There are so many hilarious boobs on display! From seasonally appropriate boobage (the Valkyrie Chronicles girls, and Santa Sonico–remember when she had a realistic bust?), to cyber boobage (Purple Heart, whose boobs are trying to escape her body), to the traditional gravity-deftying boobage (Fiona from Border Break!).
But there were almost-realistic girls on display too, like Sakuya from Shining Blade. And their announcements, like Noel from Blazblue, are pretty surprising given their usual demographic. Brunhilde from Aoki Kakumei no Valkyria is, however, exactly what I’d expect from them.

I tend to think of MegaHouse as a company that thrives on nostalgia. If it’s a new series, they hardly give it the time of day: it’s all about our childhood shows and long-running anime. So imagine my surprise at their big MegaHobby announcement: Yuri on Ice figures! If you told me they would be the first to hop on what I’m sure will be an insane figure hype-train, I would have laughed, but here we are.
Of course they had a ton of nostalgia going on too. Their full Pokemon line was out, looking impressive, and showing off the Ash & Charizard figure we’ve all been waiting for. Plus a huge Digimon one too! Sadly, the new Android 18 is just as tacky and inaccurate as the first, but it’s kind of countered by a non-boobytastic Tsunade. Also a recolor of their gorgeous Elf!We’ve got Sailor Moon, Zatch Bell, One Piece, Naruto, D. Gray-Man, Space Battleship Yamato, Gundam, and so much more. Check them all out in the gallery!

Alter has always been my favorite figure manufacturer, and while there have been times my heart was swayed by others (Max Factory! AlphaMax! Orchid Seed!), I come back to them time and time again because of their consistent quality and unique sculpts. And once again they brought it in force to MegaHobby with a variety of gorgeous sculpts, painted figures, and new announcements.
Of course there were a few from their IDOLM@STER line: their Rin Shibuya (who looks basically identical to the GSC one, let’s be honest) is painted, and they brought out the sculpt for their perfect winged Ranko who I love with all my heart. And the boys were out in force! Rei and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars!, Cecil Aijima from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪, Haruka Nanase and Tachibana Mako from Free!, and an announcement for 3 new Free! boys: Sousuke Yamazaki, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rei Ryuugazaki. Plus the brand-new Dio Eraclea from Last Exile.
They also had a beautiful 1/6 scale figure of Takao, the cheesy but appealing Santa Saber Alter, Ikumi Mito finally sculpted, Lala Deviluke in a maid outfit, Plachta from the Atelier games, and two new announcements: Hikari Karibuchi from Brave Witches and Okoi from Oboro Muramasa!

Amakuni is moving on up in the world. They used to be a company totally under my radar: they released only a handful of figures a month, tended to focus on fanservice, and only made exclusives. Well, the last two are still true, but they are ramping up their production (and quality!) like woah based on their MegaHobby display.
The star of the show is definitely Anne Takamaki from Persona 5, along with an announcement for Makoto Niijima. I hope this is the first of many announcements for the game! We also have shockingly original duo-figure of Megaman X and Zero, a ton of Kantai Collection (Kashima, Ooyoda, Haruna, Libeccio, and Mutsu), the addition of Yuzuruha to their Muramasa line (along with alternate “wet” versions of Momohime and Kongiku), their cute Sonico which is ruined by the boobs, Orange Heart from the Neptunia franchise, and so much more.
Like Ryoubi from Senran Kagura, a bunny version of Sword & Wizards‘ Fuyuka Yukishiro, the painted Deena Challenger, Cleric from Bikini Warriors, and announcement for Alice Shimada from Girls und Panzer, and the way too perfect Cyan from Show By Rock. I want so many of these figures…

There are quite a few figures of Saber Bride out there. I already own three: AlphaMax, Medicom, and Good Smile, and I was fairly certain that would be more than enough for me. But apparently not, because Hobby Max has just unveiled a Bride figure sculpted by Kiking that is beyond my wildest dreams for a figure of her. With an amazing base, intricate details, and a unique pose, this Bride has it all–though her eyes are golden, which is a bit odd. What happened to the green?
It’s also a pretty mysterious figure. We have a release date (August) and know pre-orders are open tonight, but she’s also linked to a Chinese kickstarter and appears to be an exclusive. Though hey, in this day and age that won’t stop any figure collector! The price, though, might just do that…
[UPDATE] It seems there are two versions of this beauty! The DX one with the base is exclusive, so you will need a proxy for her. There’s also a standard edition with a simpler base available at most figure stores. However, their price is the same, so you’ll only pay about 2k more in proxy fees if you get the special edition. Tempting!

Santa Alter, just put Excalibur under the tree, for me…. I’ve been an awful good girl~
So, Volks really loves Saber from Fate/Stay Night. We’ve gotten a ton of versions of her, including regular, Lily, Alter, and Extra. Now it’s time for one more! In a very strange choice (no Mordred?) they’ve gone with Santa Saber aka Rider. A real character from Fate/Grand Order. What is this franchise turning into?!
In any case, this doll is basically Saber Alter (who, remember, was a pre-order doll so there are lots of her on the market!) in Christmas-themed clothing. Not their most exciting release, no? To be honest this seems like a shameless money grab: why not just release the outfit? Why not give us OG Rider, a Dollfie fans have been clamoring for? Or Caster/Caster Extra? The answer is money.
