  • It’s time to accelerate! Funko’s Overwatch line has certainly been successful, but everyone wants their main to be released ASAP. Which is a problem when there’s, like, two dozen characters. But they’re working as fast as they can! Wave 2 was on display at Toy Fair, and it includes D.Va (in mech), Lucio, Mei, McCree, Symmetra, and Reinhardt. I’m still sad there is no tiny Bastion, but perhaps wave 3 will finally fill my robot dreams.

  • So it seems like over at Tokyo Tower Good Smile Company and Co sat around and were like, “Well, how can we print money fastest?” Then they turned to some intern that’s done nothing but play Overwatch for like 1000 hours since release like the rest of the damn world and the onslaught of figures began. First we got Tracer as a Nendoroid, then announcements of Mei and Mercy, and now we’ve got an announcement of figma Tracer! The party doesn’t stop! Give me all of them as Nendoroids, figmas, and scaled figures now! [UPDATE] Hold onto your ninjas, there’s a Genji figma as well [via TokyoOtakuMode’s Twitter]

  • I am a firm believer in the fact that everything is better if you make it pink. Cats? Better pink. Hummers? Better pink. Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Chun-Li? Better pink! It was a totally out of the blue announcement at SDCC, but I found myself pretty excited for it–which is rather amusing, because I’m far from a huge fan of hers. But she’s just so… pink! It makes her look so cheerful and happy. Like she’s going to completely wreck your face into a horrible mimicry of what a human should look like, but she’ll be bubbly as hell while doing it. I mean, if you *have* to have someone breaking all your bones, wouldn’t you rather have pink Chun-Li do it than blue Chun-Li? [Pictures from our wonderful SDCC correspondent, Anne Mortensen-Agnew!]

  • WonderCon was this weekend, and while Stephen and I would love to attend every convention… well, we sadly can’t! But there are always others hard at work pumping out news, so thankfully we can always bring you juicy new info. This time around there’s some Bishoujo updates! The sculpt for Jason Voorhees looks near finished, and we have a rough one for Nina Williams. But the big news is both the announcement AND art reveal for Batwoman! I expected she’d join the lineup soon, seeing as how we already have many of the villains, Batgirl, and the full Birds of Prey lineup. I’m so happy the pose isn’t cheesecake’d up, she looks lovely. • While Good Smile’s Nintendo collaboration started out rather slowly, with really just the two Samus figures, it started booming after they saw the skyrocketing prices the figma & statue were commanding on the after-market. Seriously, $150 for a figma is hella impressive. They had both of them along at Toy Fair to celebrate the recent re-releases, along with a few other Nintendo goodies like the adorable Luigi Nendoroid, figma Link, and (of course) the brand-new Nendoroid Link! I am so in love with this Nendo, and thrilled they went with the Wind Waker design instead of one of his more realistic incarnations. Cartooney adorableness!

  • If you’re a long-time Plastikitty reader, you probably already know that Shunya Yamashita has illustrated pretty much the entirety of the Tekken cast already. But if we know one thing, it’s that Shunya likes to draw. A lot. There’s no stopping this guy! So it’s no surprise that in his new artbook, Beautiful Noise, he’s got even more Tekken ladies in store for us. The most important is probably Michelle Chang, who as we’ve surmised is probably the next Tekken Bishoujo. But here we’ve got his full art with the proper background, and this is probably what we’ll see for her Bish announcement! We’ve also got Kunimitsu (want please!), Miharu in a swimsuit, and an absolutely stunning Angel. I mean… look at her. I NEED THIS. Right now. You all know my weakness for winged ladies knows no bounds! [Thanks to Stuart Campbell for both the tip and the images!]
