Goddess Madoka Archive

  • Yes, you read the header right! One teaser, singular. Aniplex is a rather small company in terms of how much they put out, so it’s no surprise that they don’t want to spoil all of their big reveals. They did, however, choose a good one to show us–it’s Devil Homura! To go along with the just-up-for-order Goddess Madoka. I included a picture of her in the gallery because guys, I hate her face. She looks drunk. Or high. Do not want!! Hopefully Homura is better? [UPDATE] Added 2 new teasers from Your Lie in April and Sword Art Online! [via aniplex_plus]

  • Remember when Madoka fever swept the figure world? Sure, we still get some stuff from the show, but it’s nothing like that peak-Madoka hype. Ultimate/Goddess Madoka was particularly prevalent: dolls, figmas and Nendoroids, prize figures, and of course the amazing Good Smile scaled version of her. It’s been quite some time since we saw a figure of Godoka, but Aniplex hasn’t forgotten our lord and savior! They’ll be doing a figure of Ultimate Madoka, and while I have the GSC one already I really love the softer, cutesy style and pose they went with here. I think it honestly fits her character more than any other version! Can’t wait to see her painted, and part of me is hoping they do a Devil Homura to go along with her. There is matching art, after all… [via Aniplex’s Twitter]

  • Oh, RAHs, you have become my weakness. Stephen and I have decided that we REALLY need to cut down on figure ordering due to space (aka we have none), so suddenly the high price point of a Real Action Hero doesn’t seem that bad. We have all the Eva Units, Saber Lily will be mine, but there are some lines even I don’t cross. Those lines include huge wings that can push a price past $250. Can you even imagine how much she is going to cost? Don’t even. I can’t. However, she’s so very pretty. So very, very pretty. If they do winged Homu I am dead in the water. The water of my tears, spilling down as my wallet empties into Medicom’s pocket. [via 2chan]

  • Many people’s mothers told them “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” However my mother never said anything of the sort, so I can complain all I want. I seriously contemplated just putting WHY in giant bold letters and calling it a day. I’ve made my feelings on this figure perfectly clear.. so in the next paragraph I’ll try to be a little positive for you all. She’s tiny! So she takes up less space than the original! Hooray! And um… her face is wider… that’s nice? Ah… she’s less shaded… but that doesn’t seem like a positive aspect. She costs less, though she’s still overpriced for her size (1/10). Just yesterday I was talking about how much I love wings, pink hair and flying poses so you think I’d be all over this but I’m just so Madoka’d out. ;~; Give me a break, GSC! How about Ultimate HomuHomu, or Maiko Mami instead of possessed Madoka? Pretty please? [via Mikatan]

  • Another month, another round of magazine scans! Like clockwork, it’s that time again. This time we’ve got a whole lot of Tony Taka for you guys, which makes me a very happy camper. Heck, every figure release in the world could be Tony Taka and I’d be pleased. Of course we’ve got other things: Devil Survivor, Fate/Stay Night, Miku, the inevitable Cattleya, figmas, Nendoroids… and not a boy in sight! So check them all out below.

  • When I saw this news pop up, I literally wanted to throw something across the room. Maybe you are thinking “hey Leah, it’s not that bad! Really, Good Smile & co haven’t made THAT many Madokas!” Oh really? Well, there’s the 1/8 scale version of her along with the maiko version in the works. Then there’s the Nendoroid, the school uniform Nendoroid, and the Ultimate Nendoroid. Then we’ve got the figmas: standard, school, and Ultimate. There’s also three Petits, and don’t even get me started on the RAH. Oh, and let’s not forget 1/8 Ultimate Madoka, who most certainly was not a massive sales flop who was over-produced out the ass and whose release ended in discounts of up to 70% off and outraged a whole lot of customers. And that is ONE CHARACTER from the series. I mean, certainly it can’t get any worse. It’s not like they’d shrink down the Ultimate Madoka sculpt to 1/10 scale, change absolutely nothing but the arms and the face, and bundle her with a freaking magazine, RIGHT??!?!? Wrong. That is what is happening. I have… no word. Please stop, Good Smile. Right now. What’s next, movie versions of the first 1/8 and Ultimate Madoka along with a repaint of her Maiko version? Oh, and let’s not forget Movie figmas & Nendoroids! [via Matomagi]

  • December was (obviously) the last month of 2012, and boy was it a doozy. Even with the massive amount of delays that came late in the year it was just totally jam-packed with releases. In fact, this might actually be our biggest month of orders… ever. Well, maybe excluding July of 2010, where we had an entire wall of loot from SDCC. But in terms of imports, yeah, it’s a bit overwhelming! So hit the jump to check out all the goodies.

  • You’ve probably noticed a ton of delays from Good Smile Company & co recently, but it’s not really news-worthy since a delay of only a month isn’t exactly unusual in the figure world. However, we just got word of a TON of delays, and it seems like GSC has hit some production snags and is looking to fix them. Now, I’d just like to say that my stance on delays is different from most people: I welcome them! I’d rather wait a few extra months than get a figure with sub-par quality. Anyway, onto the delays! Goddess Madoka was pushed back to December (no surprises there). The Shiki re-release, Sena, and the Princess of Crystal are all January now. The Golden Caliburn re-release was moved all the way back to February, and Max Factory’s Saber and Kiritsugu duo are January. Their Tomo is also January, and Medaka is February. Aside from Medaka, these were all originally 2012 releases! I hope Good Smile is able to successfully fix their issues and return to the quality we all know and love! [via GSC]

  • Another week, another batch of PVC pre-orders. This seemed to be a particularly good week, with a ton of figures that people were really looking forward to. Like oh, you know, the Goddess Madoka duo and the best male figure ever! We’ve also got quite a few beach figures, which is funny given how cold it is now (and how chilly it will be when these ladies are released), along with a poseable nurse and one laughably bad figure. Check them all out below!

  • Back at WonFest, Max Factory unveiled the painted prototype for a Goddess Madoka figma. It seemed natural that a Nendoroid would come next, and lo and behold she was shown off just a few days ago! It’s no surprise that these two are going up together on the 16th, and that they seem to come with pretty much identical accessories: a serene & serious face, along with her bow & arrow. Given the complexity of her outfit, wings & hair it’s not shocking there are so few extras. On the plus side, the sculpts look great, especially the figma! I think they’ll make a great trio with the scaled figure. Of course they won’t come cheap: the figma is ¥4,800 with a February release and the Nendoroid is ¥3,500 with a March release. It’ll be a while, but I can’t wait to see all 3 together! [UPDATE] Updated with the full shots from Mikatan! [via Mikatan & the figma blog]
