Gravity Daze 2 Archive

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • We’ve already shown you Pokemon figmas, Tracer and Genji from Overwatch, some new Fate/Grand Order figmas, Persona 5 figmas, and Utena, but it’s not a Wonder Festival if Max Factory and co don’t shove every possible franchise ever down our throats in poseable 1/12th scale form! When it comes to video games, we’ve got a lot between Crow from Gravity Daze 2, Ulala from Space Channel 5, Gwendolyn from Odin Sphere, Bloodborne and Dark Souls III, Ludens (who knows if this is even a game, but whatever), Kusanagi Kyo and Yagami Iori from King of Fighters, and the painted Metroid Prime 3: Corruption Samus. Then we’ve got like the entire cast of Love Live! Sunshine!! with Matsuura Kanan, Kurosawa Dia, Watanabe You, Tsushima Yoshiko, Kunikida Hanamaru, Ohara Mari, and Kurosawa Ruby so that you can recreate the show yourself a la Robot Chicken. Then continuing on with the anime we’ve got Rem and Ram from Re:Zero aka the same sculpt twice with super minor differences, but everyone’ll only buy Rem since she actually had a storyline unlike Ram, Tanya Degurechaff from Saga of Tanya the Evil (because Japan still has a hard on for little girls dressed up as the enemy from WWI or WWII), Klaus and Leonardo from the new season of Kekkai Sensen, Yukari Akiyama from Girls Un Panzer, and Misako Akeno from High School Fleet. Then from KanColle we’ve got three new entries with Yuudachi, Tokitsukaze, and Fubuki. FREEing also had a few figmas on hand with their massive Iron Fossil from Dariusburst as well as the Bubblegum Crisis Moto Slave and a figma ex:ride of Ray from Kikou Souseki Mospeada. Then over in experimental land we’ve got the amazing sculptor Takayuki Takeya taking on Devilman. Oh, but that’s not all. No. We also got *the best figma of all time*. What is it might you ask? What could be better than stuff like The Thinker? Oh, I’ll tell you. It’s the E233 Series Train. Yes, that’s right, it’s a literal figma of a train. Now everybody better hop on the figma train hypetrain before it leaves the station because woo boy I hope they make more trains to keep on with the ridiculous factor of having a figma train. • Max Factory plays it a bit more coy than their sister company GSC. Sure, some of their teasers are clear and concise, but they also give us near-unidentifiable pixellated blogs. What a tease! This year there’s a good mix. Some are so obvious: figmas Gwendolyn, the Hunter from Bloodbourne, Crow from Gravity Daze 2, Yukari from Girls und Panzer, scales of Murakumo from KanColle and Urashima Kotetsu from Touken Ranbu. But what about the blobs? Well, one set is clearly Rem & Ram (scaled, it appears!), and another is… a big ‘ol mess of I don’t know. Any ideas? We also know that they will have a figma of Leonard Watch on display! [via the figma blog]

  • Well we’ve already showed you the KanColle figmas, the new Link and Zelda, the Persona 5 figmas, the Bloodborne figma, and Li, but that’s not all that was on hand at WonFest! In things we already knew about land there’s the Kaiba figma, Dark Magician Girl’s figma, Leafa, the new Samus from Metroid Prime 3, Gravity Crow and Gravity Kitten from Gravity Daze 2, the protagonist from Persona 3, Fuchiko (who now has five color variations), R. Tanaka Ichirou from Kyuukyoku Choujin R, Conan from Mirai Shounen Conan, Kogure Kenzou from Seibu Keisatsu, and Majima Goro from Ryuu ga Gotoku. So what was actually new to the show then? Well we’ve got two figures from My Hero Academia with both Midoriya and Bakugou, who both look awesome, female Corrin from Fire Emblem: Fates, Guyver III, Ulala from Space Channel 5, Klaus von Reinherz from Kekkai Sensen, Mumei from Kabaneri, and Ononoki Yotsugi from the Monogatari series. Then we’ve got a few oddities with Asato Miyo and Rikka Shiina from Little Armory and then Nipako that are being made by Tomytec, and three new art additions by FREEing: The Mona Lisa, Scream, and The Actor. Personally I’m most excited for the My Hero Academia figmas and the super odd art additions, but what are you looking forward to? Let us know in the comments! • Wonder Festival is just a few days away, so you’d think companies would want to save their new announcements for the event. Or, you know, at least just show us a teaser and make us guess. But no, Max Factory has had enough of teasers (me too thanks), and we’re just getting a full-on announcement! It’s for figmas of Kitten and Crow from Gravity Daze 2! It’s one of those games that I thought would lead to a lot of merch, but it’s been pretty quiet aside from that one statue. Kitten actually had a figma before, but it was crazy limited edition and part of a bundle (so $$$). It’s great to see that there will be a wider, probably improved, release for her, and how can you not love Crow’s design? Looking forward to seeing these two sculpted. [via akane_mfx’s Twitter]
