So did everyone else. It’s been ages since they actually did anything, and many of their in-production figures (like the damn goldfish action figure I had on order for 2 years!!) were simply cancelled or left in limbo. But apparently they were just hibernating, because they’re back with totally new branding!</p> <p>They showed off two new lines, which really just seems like a way of re-branding their image. The first, Bishojo Tairiku, is their art-based 18+ line (kind of like what Native and AlphaMax does), featuring art by Kizuki Aruchu, Koutaro, Watanabe Yoshihiro, and more! The second, Grand Toys, features more traditional licenses like <em>Cutie Honey</em>, Super Sonico, <em>Highschool DxD</em>, and <em>Silent Möbius</em>. They’ve also revived a few <em>Date A Live</em> and<em> Rozen Maiden</em> figures I thought were long gone!     (NSFW) Griffon Enterprises Rises From The Dead

    Summer Wonder Festival 2012: Griffon Enterprises

    Griffon’s main focus at most events is Touhou Project, but they actually had a lot of anime-based merchandise at Wonder Festival this time! However, let’s start with Touhou since that seems to be where they put most of their efforts. Their loli Yukari is sculpted, and I am excited to see her done–I love Yukari and this is a fun alternate take! Surprisingly, only one other Touhou girl was there: a second version of Iku Nage. I thought the first version was a bit meh, so it’s nice to see a better sculpt.

    Griffon’s Feisty New Aya Is Finished

    When Griffon announced a new version of Aya Shameimaru I was pretty excited because I love her design, but the sculpt didn’t really wow me. I feel kind of in between now: I love the paint job and I think she’s very cute, but at the same time the sculpt is just not very interesting. I think the unusual color palette kind of makes up for that though, and she certainly looks more polished here than she did at Reitaisai 9. It also seems like her accessories (fan, camera, hat pom-poms) can all be removed so you can mix and match for the look you want! I’m still unsure if I want to order her or not though, the Kotobukiya version of Aya is just so perfect that I end up comparing them in my head… and sadly, this version comes up a little short.

So of course when Toyosatomimi no Miko <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/treasure-festa-in-ariake-7-griffon-enterprises" target="_blank">popped up completed at Treasure Festa</a>, it was a clear sign that we’d be getting a chance to own her soon! I’ve been skipping out on a lot of their newer characters in this line as they just don’t appeal to me enough, but Miko is definitely an exception–I love pretty much everything about her! This year was no exception, and they had a surprising amount of new info, but let’s start first with the stuff we know about! There’s their <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/griffons-newest-aya-shameimaru-is-sculpted" target="_blank">Aya Shameimaru</a>: while I wasn’t won over when we first saw her sculpted, the refinements they’ve done are very nice and she does look rather adorable.     Griffon’s Byakuren Hijiri is Looking Fabulous

    We saw Griffon’s Byakuren figure unpainted quite some time ago. Usually Griffon is pretty fast at going from an unpainted sample to the finished prototype, but Byakuren took a little longer than most. I think they really spent a lot of extra time working on the paint details, and it definitely shows!

    The lines on her dress are very clean, and the purple-to-yellow transition looks perfect. Her face too is quite different from the “normal” Griffon face, and it looks a lot more mature. I think she’s a great addition to their line, and she should be going up for order early next week!

    Griffon has really been on a roll with putting out sculpts from the batch of new figure concepts they showed off. Byakuren is sculpted, the new Remilia is colored, and now it’s time for everyone’s favorite doofy ice fairy! I find it very odd that Griffon has not done a figure of Cirno in their regular line yet, because she’s an incredibly popular character. They made a POP version of her (which I sorely regret passing up), but none in their regular 1/8 scale line!

    Now she’s finally getting added, and I am glad that they waited to work on her. All of the early figures in this line were just…. standing around, and the sculpting wasn’t that interesting. Thankfully Cirno gets a slightly dynamic pose, and the sculpt on her clothing and hair looks great! I just hope that she comes with a frozen frog along with the ice gem.

We didn’t even get payment requests for our August orders until mid-September, and it takes a while to receive everything and then organize it all. If you order only 1 one 2 figures a month you’ll get them right on time, but the bigger the order the longer the delay.</p> <p>Anyway, back on topic! August was our biggest month ever for figure orders, as we ended up with both of our AmiAmi orders and a flood of exclusives that all seemed to come out at once. If you order only 1 one 2 figures a month you’ll get them right on time, but the bigger the order the longer the delay.

    Anyway, back on topic! August was our biggest month ever for figure orders, as we ended up with both of our AmiAmi orders and a flood of exclusives that all seemed to come out at once. It’s probably going to be our biggest month ever (or at least for quite some time), as Stephen and I have started trimming down our orders quite a bit.
