Haiyore! Nyaruko-san Archive

  • As usual FREEing’s display was pretty much yukata girls and big bunny figures all the way down. We’ve seen the IM@S yukata offerings, but of course there were more! Kirino & Kuroneko from OreImo, along with Misaka Mikoto & Kuroko Shirai. We also have an update on the Madoka line! Mami is painted, and Kyoko and Sayaka are sculpted. Now, the bunnies. If you’d always wanted a slithering Elder Chaos in a bunny outfit, you are in luck because Nyaruko is getting one of their 1/4 scale variants. So is Origa from Hyakki Yakou who looks STUNNING. Finally, the last Infinite Stratos animal girl is finished: Houki, who seems to be a fox! [UPDATE] The Freezing 1/4 scale girls are painted! [via whl4u & GSC Facebook]

  • Ah, Griffon. The company that constantly announces figures I’m sure I want, but a combination of terrible faces, high prices and release dates perpetually keep me away. It didn’t used to be like this: when their main focus was on the Touhou girls everything was delayed all the time. It was great. But anyway, let’s get into what they brought to Treasure Festa this year! We’ve got Nanoricchi out the ears: pretty much the entire cast of Sword Art Online (and a scale for Sinon), tons of new Touhou girls, lots of Date A Live (including Nanoricchi and scales of Kaguya Yamai, Yuzura Yamai, Origami Tobiichi, and Kurumi Tokisake in a swimsuit), and parka Soniko is painted! For scales we have the GIANT Aegis, who looks surprisingly good, and the rough outline for giant Soniko, and art for their Infinite Stratos girls. Onto new announcements we’ve got a lovely sculpt of Nanana Ryuugajou from Ryuugajou Nanana no Maizoukin, moe Nyarlathotep, two figures of Tsukiko Tsutsukakushi, and Kirito from Sword Art Online. What, Griffon doing a male figure?! There’s even more to be seen as well, so check it all out in the gallery! [via Akibahobby]

  • That’s right, it’s time for another prize fair! Because we can’t have some nice time off between Wonder Festival and Toy Fair. Oh no, that would be way too simple! Anyway, we have a TON of goodies for you. More than usual, even! School Idol Project, Kantai Collection, One Piece, Soniko, Sword Art Online, Dragon Ball Z, Monster Hunter, and so much more. We’ve even got some pleasant surprises like Sailor Moon prizes, so check them all out in the gallery! [via Hobby Maniax, UFO Prize, & Hobbylog]

  • We’ve already shown you a few of the more memorable pieces at Good Smile Company’s booth: Belldandy & Holly Bell, the Attack On Titan goods, 7th Dragon Miku, Bayonetta, and Nyaruko. But of course there are more than just a few figures in a booth as big as Good Smile’s! They had lots of Madoka merchandise as you’d expect, in fact it was almost their whole lineup! Nendoroids and scaled figures a plenty. In fact there were tons of Nendoroids from a lot of different shows and series as well as figmas and scaled figures. We’ve got Vocaloids, Samus,  Dangan Ronpa, and a few of their past exclusives. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • Nyaruko, Japan’s cutesy personification of the Lovecraaft deity Nyarlathotep, has gotten quite a few figures since her anime aired. But none of them are quite as cute (or quite as risque!) as Max Factory’s take on the character. Which, given Max Factory’s track record, is not really that surprising. We got to see her in person at New York Comic Con, which is nice because she’s coming out this month after some delays! I must admit I’d kind of forgotten about her, since compared to some other big releases her sculpt doesn’t seem that wow-worthy. But seeing her in the “flesh” was a nice reminder of how adorable this figure is! Well, as adorable as the crawling chaos in a naked apron can be…

  • When Good Smile Company & Co announced their September delays, I’m sure we were all thinking the same thing. Hey, that’s not so bad! Could be much worse, right? Well this is Good Smile we’re talking about. So not only could it be worse–it’s gonna be worse. Oh yeah, we’ve got more coming. Not a whole lot more, but enough to make me let out an audible sigh. And unlike most of them, only one is getting bumped back to October–Max Factory’s Nyaruko. The others are pushed way back to November! Ugh, I don’t even want to think about snowy weather. And holidays. Uuugh. Anyway, the figures getting hit with delays are the newest figma Guts, FREEings Mei Misaki, Mu-21, & FREEing’s Marie Mamiya. Not so bad, especially since I’m sure a few of thouse *cough*FREEingfiguresasidefromMu12*cough* weren’t on a ton of people’s order lists. But Nyaruko, noooo! [via GSC]

  • Ah, Sega. Definitely the best prize figure maker in my opinion, but I have a love-hate relationship with prize figures. (Also, just so you know, I originally wrote love-hat relationship. Love Hat.) I love how cheap they are, the variety, the clean sculpts. But… I never display them. Well, almost never–I do have the recent hair-in-the-wind Asuka out proud among my regular Eva girls, and she fits in perfectly. But in my limited display space, they just… don’t fit in. So the boxes collect dust. But they’re so cheap, how can I resist! Space hogging boxes, you flood my apartment. I hate you. I hat you! And yet.. I love you. I mean, look at all this awesome. The Mikus! Racing 2011, swimming, regular, an announcement for 2012 racing. The Eva girls! Plugsuits, racing queens. There’s Strike Witches and OreImo and Yuru Yuri, there’s Harlock, it’s a cornucopia of delights. And I totally don’t need any of them. But I’ll probably order, like half. [via Akibahobby]

  • Summer Wonder Festival 2013 takes place on July 28th, so it’s still a ways off, but for some reason Good Smile Company & co have decided to show off their exclusives way early this time around! Oddly enough, the summer exclusives mirror the winter ones almost exactly a resculpt of a popular GSC scaled figure, a popular character Nendoroid, two IDOLM@STER Cinderella girls Nendoroids, Cinderella girl Petit Nendoroids, and a Phat! Company chibi. This time the scaled figure is a resculpt of GSC’s Makise from several years ago: this time around she’s blushing, wearing a white coat and holding a Dr. Pepper bottle. She’ll retail for ¥7,500. The two figmas, Mika & Rika Jougasaki are even cuter than winter’s additions! JUST LOOK AT THEM. Dear god. They are ¥3,500 each, and worth every penny. I mean, they actually have accessories. It’s a miracle. The Nendoroid is Nyaruko in a Alice in Wonderland-style maid outfit, which I like better than her first getup. She will also be ¥3,500. The Petit set features Ranko Kanzaki, Uzuki Shimamaru and Mika Jougasaki, all in special outfits and with a cute little stage: the whole set retails for ¥4,500. Last and, yeah, kind of least is the Phat! Company giant chibi soft vinyl figure of Kirari Moroboshi for ¥4,500. Of course all of these will be at the event, but orders will open online on the 28th of July and run until August 5th with November releases… hopefully. [via GSC]

  • Welcome to the week of scantily clad ladies! It seems that everyone this time around is at least partially undressed–we’ve got everything from swimsuits to maids to aprons to lingerie to cow outfits (no joke). Well, not everyone: there are some ladies with a full set of clothing, including a goth loli who has proven herself pretty popular and one of the less popular Nanoha ladies. Check them all out after the jump!

  • Haiyore! Nyaruko-san! has quickly become one of my favorite recent animes. I didn’t watch it or anything but it features Nyarlathotep, one of Lovecraft’s most fearsome deities in the form of an impossibly cute alien girl with a heart ahoge who runs around with a crowbar. What’s not to love? There have been a few figures of her but none of them can top Max Factory’s version of her, which was announced at Wonder Festival and colored quite recently. It features miss Nyaruko in an apron… and that’s it. The naked apron thing seems to be a bit of a theme in Japan for some reason, not that I am going to complain. Like all of Max Factory’s ladies she looks very nice, and at 1/7 scale she’s certainly not tiny! Orders will open on the 18th. [via Mikatan]
