Halo Archive

  • Kotobukiya finally unveiled their Halo ArtFX at Toy Fair, and Master Chief was one of the figures we were lucky enough to shoot outside of the glass and away from the harsh event lights. I have some very fond memories of Halo involving games played senior year in the lounge with my friends while we mused about our future in college, so this statue hits me with a load of nostalgia. As we mentioned in the first post, there will be some changes made to the final pose. Mainly, his weight distribution will be altered: you might notice that it looks a tad stiff here, but that will be fixed! His texture is also a bit rough from the 3D printing, but you really get an overall impression of what the finished piece will be like. Usually I’m not much of a statue girl, but I feel like “Master Chef” is going to be joining my collection…

  • We have known for about half a year now that Halo would be added to Kotobukiya’s ArtFX line, but it sure has seemed like a lot longer! We are finally getting some progress on the line now with the sculpt for Master Chief, who has been heavily hinted at since NYCC. This sculpt was almost literally just finished before the show, and some small adjustments will be made before the final prototype, but this is pretty accurate to the pose we will be getting! Fun fact: for about a year when Halo first came out I thought he was “Master Chef” because my brain autocorrects things in very odd ways.

  • Video games are a great pass time for many of us, but when we’re not playing video games, it’s great to have figures of our favorite characters to look at! We already showed you that Cammy and Juri are next up in the Street Fighter world, but before they hit the shelves next year, Chun Li will kick her way into stores in February. In the world of Tekken, Ling Xiayou and Jun Kazama were shown off, who will come out in November and March, respectively. After all of the fighting game announcements, it was revealed that the Halo franchise will be seeing its return to the ArtFX line, which many fans will be happy to hear. Last, a Batman 1/10th scale ArtFX+ from Arkham City was shown off along with an announcement that Arkham Origins figures are also in the works.

  • We’ve already shown you the two new Bishoujos at SDCC, Jun Kazama and Chun-Li, but of course Kotobukiya brought a whole lot more to SDCC! The new Xiaoyu was there, along with many of the other Tekken girls: Alisa, Asuka (review), Jaycee, and Lili! There’s also a more detailed look at the new girls in the gallery–Chun-Li’s sculpt is growing on me the more I see it. While at first I definitely wasn’t a fan, I love that they went with a more action-y pose. Plus they gave her such a strong and muscled physique, which I always love to see on a figure! You might notice that we snuck the Halo announcement in here because who knows, maybe there will be a Cortana Bishoujo? Pretty please, Kotobukiya? [Pictures courtesy of our lovely SDCC corespondent, Missy!]

  • Kotobukiya sure has been snagging a lot of game licenses recently: Mass Effect, Dead Space, and now (to the surprise of absolutely no one) they’re taking on Halo. Seeing as how massive the franchise is it was only a matter of time, and in fact they aren’t announcing one figure but a whole line! They have said it will be “extensive” and will include both 1/6 scale ArtFX statues and the smaller, more affordable ArtFX+ which is a nice option for those of us with limited budgets. Personally, I want a Halo Bishoujo. Just picture it! [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Well, we’ve already shown you a lot of new Play Arts Kai announcements from Square-Enix ranging from the new DC Universe line to Final Fantasy VII Advent Children pieces and Street Fighter characters as well, but there were a lot of other Play Arts Kai tossed in the mix too. The Halo 4 Play Arts Kai were on display in full force and ready for action, but there were also lots of prototypes too. Leon S. Kennedy and Helena Harper from Resident Evil 6 were on hand along with Tom “Preacher” from Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Isaac Clarke from Dead Space 3. Major Henry Varro from Starship Troopers Invasion was also on hand, but the coolest new figure had to be Zetman, who was just simply stunning. There were also a few chibi Final Fantasy figures on display, so be sure to check it all out in the gallery.

  • Back at SDCC we showed you the reveal of the new Halo 4 Play Arts Kai figures from Square-Enix that were added to the ever-popular Halo line they have and now, at New York Comic Con, we got yet another look at Master Chief along with a new addition to the line as well: Sara Palmer! Master Chief looks pretty much the same as he did when we saw him previously, but Sara here has quite a detailed sculpt that feels surprisingly feminine considering it’s pretty much a suit of robotic-looking armor. Also on hand were some of the previously released figures available for purchase, which seemed to move quite quickly, but of course, we have pictures of it all in the gallery below.

  • Tokyo Game Show isn’t exactly known for figure announcements, but at every convention or event in the nerd industry a few are bound to pop up! Square-Enix, as a manufacturer of both games and figures, of course had quite a few Play-Arts Kai on hand. The Tron Sora & Riku we saw at SDCC are painted, and we’ve also got another more basically clothed Kingdom Hearts set… of Sora and Riku. Seriously, companies act like they’re the only characters in the games! The Catwoman & Joker movie-versions are sculpted, and we’ve go an Arkham City Harley Quinn. Of course we’ve got a Final Fantasy announcement as well: Rufus Shinra from VII! Then there’s the usual flood of Halo merchandise, along with surprise appearances from Starship Troopers: Invasion, Medal of Honor: Warfighter and Zetman! Check them all out in the gallery below. • The Play Arts Kai line seems to really excel when it comes to robot or armored characters, so of course their Halo line has been spot-on so far. For SDCC they were showing off their new Spartan Warrior and Master Chief (who I used to think was Master Chef, no joke), both of which are pending licensor approval.  Of course they will most likely pass, and will be released in 2013!

  • Well, ThreeA is one company that really seems to be listening to the demands of their ever growing community and is giving them exactly what they want: more figures… LOTS more! First up is the major figure release for September, the WWR 1/6th Caesar figure, which will be up on September 14th only at the Bambaland online store in a whopping eleven colorways. That’s not all though; continuing in the vein of the Zaku collaboration, ThreeA also announced and teased a whole bunch of new properties that they’ll be working with! First and foremost is their 1/6th Halo line as teased in the header image above, and I really can’t wait to see their take on it. From the other teaser in the gallery below, their armor seems to be incredibly stylized and quite interesting. You’ll be able to see more of the ThreeA Halo line, which debuts late 2011 and early 2012, if you go to Halofest this week. Also, we finally have a teaser image of the collaboration piece with Linkin Park that we told you about and it seems to be a special edition Linkin Park Bramble in a red and white colorway for their Japan charity release. Lastly, Fuck It Omnipuss (1-3) will be available at some point in September. Also announced is a new division, Lux3A, which will be focusing on high end toys and will feature figures from Metal Gear Solid, Real Steel, and Modern Girls. There’s also pictures of the Grunt, the Mongrol, and more in the gallery, so be sure to check it all out and check out their new website Plastic Kartel as well. Man, with so many new pieces, I think ThreeA will be converting quite a new fans, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments below.
