Holly Bell Archive

  • Of all the figures Good Smile & Co could potentially bring to New York Comic Con, this is definitely not one I thought would pop up! Something this delicate is not something I’d want to ship overseas in prototype form… but apparently, Belldandy is nearing her release date and based on the numbered base this might actually be a regular release. If so, I am absolutely astounded because the craftsmanship here blows anything I’ve ever seen out of the water. We’ve all seen this figure what feels like a hundred times. We’ve featured her on the site over and over, but seeing her in person is something else. The sculpt alone is just… mind-blowing. The detail! Her HAIR! I am so happy I pre-ordered this piece, and she’ll undoubtedly be the show-stopper of any collection she joins.

  • It’s that time again! For some people delays mean frustration: for me, it’s time to celebrate! Yay, figures I don’t have to pay for until next month… or later! Always a good thing. There’s not a whole lot of surprises here. Max Factory is continuing their massive slew of delays with SIX figures: Belldandy & Holly Bell, both Dark Elves, Kuroyukihime, and the re-releases of figmas Link & Samus. Not even re-releases out on time, MF? For real? Good Smile seems to be a bit better, with only two delays, both Nendoroids: the new Yoshika from Strike Witches and Maou. Then we’ve got Yu & Rise Pettankos from Phat! Company along with (shocker) their elaborate Bayonetta. Did anyone think she was coming out on time? For once all of these are only pushed back one month, but I’d be surprised if they all actually came out in October. [via GSC]

  • So by now we all know how amazing Max Factory’s Belldandy & Holly Bell figure is, but with a figure this incredibly detailed it can’t hurt to take a closer look! Moeyo is bringing us a detailed shoot of all the intricate pieces that make up this stunner–well, maybe not all of them, a fully detailed review of this duo would probably come out at over 100 shots! I think many people have been waiting years for this release, and I am happy that Max Factory waited until they could really do the sculpt justice before producing it. Is there really any doubt that this will be one of the best figures of 2013? Well let’s be honest–not just for the year, but of all time! If any figure is worth a $200+ pricetag, it’s this one. • Chieri is unquestionably one of the best sculptors in the business, and certainly ranks among my favorites! While he does sculpt one or two a year, he has many older sculpts in the form of garage kits that up until now were simply too elaborate to go into actual production. Now things have changed, and as we found out at Summer WonFest Max Factory would be producing the figure that is every Ah! My Goddess fan’s dream. This figure is just… stunning. Not only is the sculpt astounding, but the coloring is beautiful and elegant and the faces on Belldandy & Holly Bell are perfectly rendered. It even comes with a swanky base! She’ll be going up for order tomorrow, and I’m kind of afraid to find out the pricetag. Then again, these two are totally worth it! [UPDATE] She will retail for ¥18,857, and it seems like she will be limited–each piece will be numbered. This could mean that she will be exclusive to GSC’s shop, which would actually be a plus–no discount, but their EMS shipping is only ¥2,000 so you would end up saving a lot. [via Mikatan]

You’d think they would be a bit lackluster because companies are gearing up for their Wonder Festival reveals–but you’d be mistaken! There are many lovely ladies here as usual, including a rather stellar batch from Kotobukiya and a extra scary Cattleya, along with some nasty exclusive surprises. Check them out after the jump! [UPDATE] Updated with a few stragglers.

  • Max Factory has a ridiculously awesome surprise for us: they plan on releasing a PVC version of Chieri’s famous Belldandy & Holly Bell figure! Previously this was only available as a Volks garage kit for a pretty astoundingly expensive price, so it’s great to know that we can all finally own this! They’ve scaled it down to 1/10 which honestly seems reasonable, given how big it will be even at that scale. [via GSC_GUMA’s Twitter]
