Holo Archive

  • It’s almost Valentine’s Day and you know what that means! Time to get married to your waifu. And to facilitate that, Myethos is making a lovely wedding Holo from Spice & Wolf who will make all your wolfish dreams come true. Or at least we hoped when she was announced! Now we have the sculpt, and I have… mixed feelings. I don’t think her face matches the art at all (it’s too cartoony), and the dress feels so stiff. There are barely any folds or sculpting details in the back, which is surprising because we know Myethos can turn out an intricate sculpt like nobody’s business. In contrast, her tail seems over-detailed and too fleshed out. Hopefully this is just a rough beginning (it does seem like a 3D model, no?) because this is not really what I wanted at all. Wedding Nia looked far better when we saw her sculpt at events, so let’s hope the same holds true for Holo! [via Dengeki]

  • I have been writing up figure news for a long, long time now. And if there’s one figure request I’ve heard the most frequently, it’s a demand for Nendoroid Holo. 7+ years ago people were begging for it… and it took nearly a decade, but you guys, dreams do come true! She was announced at this past Summer WonFest, and I was honestly expecting to wait until the Winter one for her full reveal. But here she is, looking so cute! I love all her extras, especially the hat and blushing face. Shame she doesn’t come with more apples, though! Her release date is set for July and she retails for ¥4,800. Pre-Order At: HLJ | GSC (bonus item) | AmiAmi

  • It really is a great time to be a Spice & Wolf fan. Her Kotobukiya figure just got a re-release, we have that Nendoroid, and wedding Holo. But that’s not enough: no, we need all we can get of this adorable wolf girl. This time around it’s another scaled figure announcement, this time from Revolve! We have no word on what art she’ll be based on, but we do know it’s a collaboration with Juu Ayakura, the series illustrator. Does this mean it will be something totally new? Or based on a classic S&W piece of art? Only time will tell! [via Revolve]

  • Back in the day before even I started collecting, Spice & Wolf was a pretty big deal in the figure world. There were figures of Holo from pretty much every major manufacturer. Like most momentary It Girls, this lasted only a few years and then there was a very long Holo drought. There was a CM Corp figure of her quite a few years ago, and then… nothing. Until this year, where she seems quite popular! We already have the Nendoroid announcement, but we’re also getting a figure of Holo in her wedding dress from Myethos. Not exactly the manufacturer I would have picked, but hey, they have lovely sculpts and it’s better than nothing! [via Tokyo Otaku Mode]

  • Toy’s Works’ Niitengo line takes popular anime characters and chibifies them into painfully adorable creations. Their sets are usually a bit pricey, but this exclusive mega-set takes the cake. The Heroine Blitz Figure Collection is a set of 20 popular anime heroines, including characters like Kino, Shana, Osaka, Kirino, Taiga, Holo, Henrietta, and a whole lot more! We only have art now, but they are all looking pretty fantastic. And at ¥12,000 for the lot, they better look good! The bad news (yes, the price wasn’t the bad news): this is an exclusive, so you’ll have to pay proxy fees as well. And to top it off, they won’t be released until March of 2013! [via Dengeki]

  • Good Smile Company recently conducted a poll where you could request specific characters in specific figure-forms (as long as what you were requesting was a scaled figure, Nendoroid, or figma). This was for their 10-year anniversary, and it was combined with a re-release poll. They’ve announced the results of the product request poll, and while none of these figures are guaranteed to be produced it’s interesting to see what people wanted the most! Not surprisingly there was a large Vocaaloid showing, and Shin Megami Tensei titles preformed very well. Hit the jump to check out what we might be getting!

  • Welcome, Plastikitties, to this year’s edition of the Golden Boobie Awards! Last year I did the Golden Boobie Awards on a different site, and it was so amazingly fun that I just had to do an edition on Plastikitty for 2011!  I mean, who doesn’t love mocking badly designed figure breasts and applauding manufacturers who understand gravity? Because, let’s face it, most sculptors have no idea what actual boobs look like–my original worst of list was twice as long as the best of, which I think says a lot. Maybe they should hire some nude models or something. So let’s hit the jump and get started!

  • Once again, our loot is two months late! I was thinking back about our July and June posts, though, and it doesn’t seem so bad. We didn’t even get payment requests for our August orders until mid-September, and it takes a while to receive everything and then organize it all. If you order only 1 one 2 figures a month you’ll get them right on time, but the bigger the order the longer the delay. Anyway, back on topic! August was our biggest month ever for figure orders, as we ended up with both of our AmiAmi orders and a flood of exclusives that all seemed to come out at once. It’s probably going to be our biggest month ever (or at least for quite some time), as Stephen and I have started trimming down our orders quite a bit.
