And now we have the painted reveal of the Dead Master Nendoroid, to go along with the figma Black Gold Saw! I really loved BGS but Dead Master is…. uh… really weird-looking. I mean, the green they used for her horns, wings & glasses is so awfully garish, it looks like she’s radioactive. And the veil is just gooey and gross looking, like she’s melting. Really, I’m not sure what went wrong here, but I sure hope they fix it before she goes up for order.

At Wonder Festival, Good Smile Company and Max Factory announced that they’d be working on figmas & Nendoroids of the new BRS Animation designs. Black Rock Shooter’s figma went up a long time ago, but we knew we’d be getting at least Dead Master and Black Gold Saw in the line as well. Surprisingly, Black Gold Saw is painted first! She’s my favorite of the BRS girls, but Dead Master is definitely more popular. I think she looks good, with a much less glossy look than the original and some nice tweaks to her design. Definitely looking forward to this one!

There were a lot of awesome goodies at Wonder Festival, but one of the figures I’ve been looking forward to most was Alter’s Amane Suzuha. She even made it onto our most wanted list! While she seemed finished at the event, you can never really know with Alter when figure will go up for order. I was prepared to wait a long time for Amane’s release, but it seems like we’re getting her very soon! Or at least, you know, we’re getting orders soon. Tonight, in fact!
Amane looks unbelievably good, with so much detail. I love the pose and of course her fantastic bike! While Alter doesn’t have any other Steins;Gate figures (yet), I think she’ll make a lovely pair with Good Smile’s gorgeous Makise and hopefully Plum’s Okarin. I hope we get a Mayuri next!

The Black Rock Shooter anime gave the BRS girls new looks, and some of them seemed a little… well, goofy, like Dead Master’s wedding veil. They’ve grown on me though, and I was surprised that we only got Animation versions of Black Rock Shooter in Nendoroid form. Now we’re getting more: Dead Master will have both a Nendoroid and figma, whereas Chariot is getting a Nendoroid and Black Gold Saw will have a new figma.

As promised in the Mikatan teasers, Good Smile Company is doing a 1/8 scale figure of Insane Black Rock Shooter, who as everyone knows is the best of the BRS girls. Seriously, just look at that amazing hair, ridiculous weapon and over the top flame. Perfection! This is really everything I hoped for and more… the only issue is that my BRS shelf is full. Where will I put her!

And now, the teasers we’ve all been waiting for! Mikatan is always kind enough to give us a sneak peak at the goodies GSC & co will have on display, and there’s a lot to cover here so let’s just jump right in. First off, quite a few things that we already knew about are finished: the 1/7 scale Sena is painted, Nendoroid Gumi is sculpted, and Nendoroids Hakase & Akari Akaza are completed as well.
Now for the new! Let’s go from least exciting to most exciting. First up are two potential new Mikus: one appears to be GIANT and the other is unpainted but looks… like regular Miku? Then there’s a new Fate Nendoroid, no doubt to go with the new Nanoha. There’s a petit of Anzu Futaba, no doubt meaning we’re getting a set from iDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls. There’s also an as-of-yet undientified Nendoroid in a yukata, we’ll update when we have more info on her. The most exciting Nendo announcement? NENDO IRON MAN. Ridiculous, but I bet he’ll be cute.
There are only two scaled figures, both of which are pretty predictable but still awesome! First is Karen from Nisemonogatari (meaning we should get a Tsukihi as well) and second is Insane Black Rock Shooter. OH YEAH! I really can’t wait for the full reveal on all of these, and to see what else they have up their sleeve for WonFest.
[UPDATE] The mystery Nendoroid is a yukata version of Miku. It seems like the other Miku teasers are of 1/1 scale display figures or one-offs most likely so hopefully we won’t be getting a million of her. The good news? This Miku’s hair is in buns!

Good Smile Company has recently been both a blessing and a curse for fans of Insane Black Rock Shooter. First they announced a very expensive boxed set with the IBRS figma, and then they revealed that one of the Summer Wonder Festival exclusives would be a Nendoroid version of the character. I think it’d be a good bet that we’ll be getting a scaled figure soon as well! Insane BRS happens to be my second-favorite BRS girl (the first being Dragon Slayer, who will never get a figure), so I am a happy camper. Perhaps less happy about the pricing, but for this amazing design I am willing to shell out a lot. Usually I tend to like Nendos more than figmas, but in the case of Huke’s girls I prefer the slimmer, more realistic versions Max Factory offers. However, there’s no doubting the cuteness the Insane BRS Nendoroid brings to the table!
WonFest is only a few days away, so Mikatan is giving us a peek at this figure. This is actually part of the production run, not a prototype, so it mirrors the quality you should see on the IBRSs at the event. Of course for those not able to make it there will be web orders! She comes with a decent amount of goodies, and this preview does confirm that she has two faces: emotionless and slightly less emotionless. There’s also the Insane Cannon Lance, a corresponding chain, Insane Blade Saw, and lots of extra arms & legs. She is, of course, compatible with other Nendo faces, and Mikatan gave us a terrifying faceplate swap with their WonFest Nanoha. Nanoha with the IBRS face is cute, but those big eyes on Insane… *shivers*

Summer Wonder Festival is about a month away, which means time for a sneak peek at the exclusives Good Smile Company & co will be offering! The first is, in my opinion, kind of weak: a “Visitor Version” of figma Buffalo Bell, who didn’t even seem that hyped up in the original release. WonFest exclusive figmas are usually either cool original releases or alternate versions of popular characters… neither of which this is. She’ll be ¥3,000 with 3,ooo pieces available at the event.
However, the boringness of Buffalo Bell is cancelled out by the other amazing announcement: Insane Black Rock Shooter, the Nendo! Many people were disappointed that the figma was so hard to get, and this release should be a LOT easier to obtain. Plus she has so many cool accessories! Insane BRS will retail for ¥3,500 with 3,ooo pieces at Wonder Festival. Like all WonFest exclusives from GSC, both of these will be in the web store after the event, with the purchase time running from July 29th to August 6th and yes, international orders will be accepted!
They also have two more figures planned for the event, though one is a 3A release so perhaps it’s a bit less exciting for our readers. I’m wondering what the 3rd will be: probably a Nendo since it will be manufactured by GSC, but what one? There’s usually at least one original release, so I am hoping for the Persona 3 protagonist! Yeah, it’s a long shot, but I can dream.

This was a great week for figures: so great, in fact, I had a hard time deciding what to put in the header! Usually it’s pretty cut-and-dry, but this week I could have made one of just Nendoroids and one of just figmas. Yes, there were three of EACH of those things! Along with some fantastic scaled gals, of course, and surprisingly few duds. So hit the jump and check them out!
