@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Ignis of the Endless Winter Archive

Is it just me, or has 2012 been the year of crazy delays? A delay of one or two months isn’t a big deal, but we’ve recently seen stuff pushed back 3 or 4! Now it’s Orchid Seed’s turn–while they are known for delays, I can’t recall one this large in a long time. Their amazing Eternal Winter Ignis was originally slated for October, and now… she’s January. 2013. I was really looking forward to getting her this year, but as always I’d rather wait for a superior product than get a lackluster figure now.

In last month’s magazine scans, Orchid Seed made a shocking announcement: they were planning a second colorway of their popular Ignis of the Eternal Winter. I mean, who would expect a recolor from Orchid Seed! What’s next, a red version?! Okay, so it wasn’t a surprise to anyone. However, it is a bit surprising that this is an exclusive… but not to Wonder Festival. Usually their figures go “original colorway, WonFest limited, third (best) colorway.” However, this “Nimbus of the Eternal Night” colorway is a Hobby Japan exclusive, which does make her a bit easier to get.
Her retail is ¥12,399 to start, so she’s not going to come cheap. There’s a special edition for ¥13,400 that comes with a special poster, and for not a whole lot more thankfully. She’ll come out in December, and proxies should list her shortly. I do like the black dress, but I’m not 100% sold on the blonde hair.
[UPDATE] Updated with better pics–Orchid had really started to sell me on this colorway!

Another month, another batch of magazine scans! But no matter how many times it happens I still seem to get excited. And trust me, there’s a lot to get excited about this month! We’ve got some amazing reveals, including a new addition to Alter’s Shining Hearts line and a ton of new figures from MegaHouse. Of course there are also new sculpts and new colored figures as well, so hit the jump to check them all out!

After a wait of over two years, we are finally getting official prototype shots of Ignis of the Endless Winter! We should really call her Ignis of the Endless Teasers, since we’ve seen a whole lot of her recently. Now, though, it’s time for pre-orders. She ain’t gonna come cheap: this 1/7 scale figure retails for a whopping ¥12,400. She comes out in October so at least you have a while to save up. Personally I think this is a tad overpriced even given her details. That said, there is no way I am missing out on her!
The details are just spectacular, and she is somehow nearly fully cast-off, keeping just her (very skimpy) panties. I love that they’ve kept her fuller figure: she’s idealized for sure, but looks more “real” than many other anime girls. Pre-orders should open only a few hours from now, so keep your eyes open and wallets ready!

Remember Orchid Seed’s Ignis of the Endless Winter? The one that seemed finished months ago, and was announced over 2 years ago? Well guess what? She’s STILL NOT FINISHED. It seems they are (hopefully) putting on the finishing touches: tattoos and a choker. But it looks like the prototype still isn’t even painted, so I presume we still have a bit of a wait before we add this beauty to our ordered lists. Hopefully she comes out by the end of 2012-I don’t know how much longer I can wait!

As much as I love Orchid Seed, there’s no denying that they are the slowest company in the business when it comes to actually getting a figure out. It’s not unusual to see 2 or even 3 year gaps between art being shown off and the figure hitting shelves, and it’s certainly not helped by the massive figure backlog they have–over 30 figures are currently in the pre-release phase, with about 2/3rds of those only as art!
One of their most anticipated figures is Ignis of the Endless Winter, which has been in limbo forever. However, it finally seems like we’re seeing some progress! She should be going up for order “soon” (which, you know, could be 3 months from now). They also showed off some images of Nurse Soniko‘s outfit (not attached to her) and that figure seems to be moving along quite quickly! I really can’t wait for Ignis, though I do wish there was a little more meat on Soniko’s bones–it doesn’t match the art for her or their other figures of this character.
