  • Union Creative used to be known as “that company that basically just makes guys standing around.” Somehow they have turned into “that company that sometimes makes guys but mainly it’s half-naked girls.” When? How? Why? This was on full effect at Wonder Festival, where they had nary a male in sight. However, lots of ladies. Strange. The star was definitely their Halloween Miku, who is so freaking cute and the sculpt looks sharp as hell. They also had the half-naked Reika from Gantz:0, the almost-naked Ryomou Shimei, and the more-clothing-than-the-others Mumei. Oh, and a sculpt for Ayame Tomogawa from Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, a show that I thought would get a ton of figure attention and now has barely any. [via moeyo]

  • FREEing is such a strange mix of super large bunny girls, teeny tiny swimsuit girls, random yukata girls, and then the occasional super-detailed high quality figure. Like, I never know what to expect from them… but at the same time I know exactly what to expect. This year we’ve got big ladies from God Eater, Danmachi, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, Expelled from Paradise, and Yatterman. Then there are tiny Vocaloids and IDOLM@STER girls. Plus, you know, a regular-sized Asuna and several others, and then (randomly) a super high quality Senritsu no Tatsumaki from One Punch Man. What is this company?? And where are the hundreds of bunny girls announcements? [via Dengeki]

  • Miyazawa Model Expo is an event I forget about every year. I can tell you exactly when Wonder Festival and MegaHobby are, but Miyazawa Model? Yeah, it’s the event that time forgot. Or Leah’s brain, whichever. As always, Good Smile Company and their umbrella manufacturers brought a ton of goodies to the event. We have figmas and Nendoroids out the wazoo, including some newly painted and sculpted goodies. Phat! and Max Factory brought many of their gorgeous IDOLM@STER girls, including MF’s Ranko who is so very swoon-worthy. We’ve got giant girls from FREEing (man, Hestia’s cast-off is painfully noticeable), Good Smile’s Link, and tons more. Check them out in the gallery below! [via Digitamin]

  • FREEing is always up and down in terms of quality, but man do they make a lot of things I want. We’ll start with their bunny girls: did you think the long line of 1/4 scale Infinite Stratos girls was the end? Nope, they are doing… a second line, with all the girls, standing in bunny costumes. So it’s different. There’s also a pair of Tony Taka bunnies (!!), their bunny Yoko, Koneko Toujou, Chitoge, and Index. Yukata girls? We got ’em! The Steins;Gate and Girls und Panzer lines are sculpted, along with Aegis. Oh, and there’s a creepy Mikage Kuroki from Maid-san to Boin Damashii. There’s tons of new stuff, like a Miku with super awesome hair, a swimsuit Miku & Luka, and a lovely Isla from Plastic Memories. And then we have a… lot of announcements. Hestia, Luka, Angela Balzac, Meiko Shiraki, and Nodoka Haramura. Want more bunny girls? Brace yourselves. They’ll be doing Hakufu Sonsaku and Shiryuu Chouun from Ikkitousen (FINALLY continuing that line), Momo and Golden Darkness, Yuki Nagato, and Alisa from God Eater. Damn! • I find it absolutely hilarious that Orca Toys just fully announced & showed off two new figures, and is now doing Wonder Festival teasers… one of them of the figure they just announced. Yup, there’s a “teaser” shot of the new Raita girl. Even though they themselves showed us full body shots. Maybe all the huge plastic boobs in the office have confused their brains. Anyway, we’ve got some teasers! Aside from the aforementioned Raita girl there’s teasers (actual teasers–good job Orca!) of their 1/4 scale Kuroneko (from the waist up, so… less of a teaser), and the bunny Chouun Shiryuu. They also retweeted this garage kit of Fighter Sasara, which would go really well with their Samurai Tamaki… [via Orca’s Twitter]

  • Ikkitousen used to be everywhere, an inescapable force in the figure world that even major companies like Alter latched onto. Nowadays figures from the series are a rare breed, with really only the occasional recolor from Griffon. And while Ikkitousen is usually a pile of tacky crap, occasionally it did produce some lovely figures. Well, it seems like Dragon Toy (a company with connections to both Daiki Kougyou and FREEing), has picked on the mantle and are bringing us a rather gorgeous rendition of Sonsaku Hakufu. I mean, I could do without the boob escaping from her shirt, but her face is gorgeous and she’s so tall and willowy. But, you know, will probably cost $200 and isn’t exactly ready for living room display. [via 2chan]

  • Griffon is usually the only PVC company to show up to Treasure Festa, and they take advantage of it with a wide range of merchandise on display. This time around they’ve changed things up a bit though: their bread and butter franchise, Touhou Project, was mysteriously missing! Well, not missing: the derpy 1/10 figures were on display and Rumia is painted… though the less I say about her the better. It seems like they are going back to their roots–scantily clad ladies! Many of the Wonder Festival announcements are sculpted, including Ikaruga (who is also painted) and Katsura Kotohana. Surprisingly, the just-announced Sasami Tsukuyomi is there as well, and not quite as cute as I had hoped. As for new announcements, we have quite a few–they’re doing Katsumi Liqueur and Kiddy Phenil from Silent Mobius and are going back to Ikkitousen with another Ryofu Housen. But most importantly, after their first sub-par Asuna they are taking her on again in her elf costume and this time she is looking a hell of a lot better! [via Hobbylog]

  • Another week, another roundup! What happened to last week’s, you ask? My dog ate it. You probably don’t know this but I tend to write the intro for these after everything else is done, and am terrified that one day I will forget and one of my stupid placeholder sentences like “some words” or “a few butts” will pop up on the front page instead. But today is not that day! Today is the day I ramble because we have really slim pickings. Sure, there are some nice figures, but it seems like none of the big companies came out to play. No scaled figures from Alter, Kotobukiya, Good Smile Company, Max Factory, even Phat! or Daiki. But of course there are some nice figures–check them out after the jump!

  • Ah, time for more exclusives. We’ve already seen offerings from Good Smile Company and ques Q along with Sega, so who will we find in these scans? Well, a heck of a lot! Let’s dive right in with Kurushima’s crazy expensive (and crazily posed) Kanu, who will be getting a special uhh different somehow colorway for WonFest. Then we have Orchid Seed’s garage kits: the 1/5 swimsuit Soniko, Princess Milk, and Alleyne! This is a good indication that all 3 will be painted at the event. Then we have ques Q, but we’ve seen their offerings already! Griffon has, of course, a buttload of recolors featuring their Monster Hunter Sena & Yozora in blue, a darker Youmu Konpaku, Murasa Minamitsu, Yukari Yakumo, Fujiwara no Mokou, Iku Nagae, and Keine Kamishirasawa. Phew, that’s a whole lot! Then there’s Volks who will be bringing back their 1/4 scale KOS-MOS along with garage kits of Alice from Walkure Romanze, Tamami Koshikawa from Hanairo Heptagram, their lovely Asuna, and Yukari Akiyama from Girls und Panzer.
