Ikumi Mito Archive

  • Once again, Alter’s event booth is totally dominated by idol girls (and some idol boys!). Oddly enough, I kind of hate watching all those shows but I passionately love the figures. Who knows with these things. And oh boy is this a good year for idol-loving peeps. Their stunning Ranko is painted, along with Sachiko. We’ve got the world’s freaking cutest Anzu Futaba and a sassy as hell Shiki Ichinose. As for Love Live!, there are new figures of Rin Hoshizora and Hanayo Koizumi. For the boys, we have Ai Mikaze and Ranmaru Kurosaki from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ painted and Camus is sculpted. The much-anticipated Okoi from Oboro Muramasa is here, and we have an announcement for Torahime! There was a surprise sculpt for SAO‘s Sinon, the casual Lancer sculpt, Ikumi Mito it painted, and we’ve got a very suggestive maid Lala. Oh, and Santa Alter Saber is on display too! It’s so weird and over the top but I love Christmas figures. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • Alter has always been my favorite figure manufacturer, and while there have been times my heart was swayed by others (Max Factory! AlphaMax! Orchid Seed!), I come back to them time and time again because of their consistent quality and unique sculpts. And once again they brought it in force to MegaHobby with a variety of gorgeous sculpts, painted figures, and new announcements. Of course there were a few from their IDOLM@STER line: their Rin Shibuya (who looks basically identical to the GSC one, let’s be honest) is painted, and they brought out the sculpt for their perfect winged Ranko who I love with all my heart. And the boys were out in force! Rei and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars!, Cecil Aijima from Uta no☆Prince-sama♪, Haruka Nanase and Tachibana Mako from Free!, and an announcement for 3 new Free! boys: Sousuke Yamazaki, Nagisa Hazuki, and Rei Ryuugazaki. Plus the brand-new Dio Eraclea from Last Exile. They also had a beautiful 1/6 scale figure of Takao, the cheesy but appealing Santa Saber Alter, Ikumi Mito finally sculpted, Lala Deviluke in a maid outfit, Plachta from the Atelier games, and two new announcements: Hikari Karibuchi from Brave Witches and Okoi from Oboro Muramasa! • Mito Ikumi from Food Wars has definitely been gaining in popularity! At first it was just Erina getting figures, but so far we’ve had Kotobukiya’s Mito, an announcement from Max Factory, and now one from Alter! Some of my absolute favorite companies, so it’s a good day for me. Of course, as exciting as this is I’m really hoping they aren’t all in the bikini & shorts outfit. Of course it’s not like she really wears much more than that but still, a girl can dream. This version will be 1/7 scale and I assume we’ll see the sculpt at MegaHobby or Summer Wonder Festival. • You know what there’s a lack of in the figure world? Tan and darker-skinned girls. They seem to be (slightly) common in anime, but they rarely get figures. Because companies would rather make 20,000 figures of the generic main girl (not like I’m bitter or anything!). Thankfully we have Kotobukiya bucking the trend with their figure of Mito from Food Wars, who went up for order a few weeks ago. We have tons of Erina, but this is the only (non-prize) figure of Mito! I mean, she’s got Yoko’s bikini top, short shorts, and a cleaver–sounds like a recipe for success. What’s not to love?

  • Shokugeki no Souma has been decently popular in the figure world, with quite a fee announcements–especially of the main girl, Erina Nakiri. We have a few new figures from the show today, and of course… Erina is one of them! Good Smile Company will try their had at this violet-eyed beauty, and while there are a lot of figures of her out there, so far none have wowed me so I’m looking forward to it. Then we have an announcement to Kotobukiya! They, thankfully, will not be making yet another Erina but instead will bring us the first scaled figure of Ikumi Mito. I love tan/darker-skinned anime girls, so this is great news for me! I wonder what outfit they’ll pick? [via Shonen Jump]
