  • Ah, MegaHobby Expo. It’s like Wonder Festival’s little brother! While it’s smaller, it’s still full of exciting announcements! Well, a few announcements. Alter brought all their newest goodies out in full force. While there’s not much new (just the announcement of Rei Sakuma and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars), there are lots of painted beauties. Like their bunny Sora, or the Charlotte & Laura cat pajama figures which I am IN LOVE WITH. Their Love Live! Umi is also painted, and so so pretty, along with Leonardo Watch from the Altair line. We also have some sculpts! Purple Heart is here (and while I love her design, not a single one of her many figures has done it for me), along with some of the Alpha x Omega girls: Karen Houjou and Nao Kamiya. There’s also Asuka Sugou from Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula which is kind of a surprise. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • You know all those figures we just saw at Wonder Festival? You know, literally like 6 days ago? Well it’s time to… look at them again! In the most pointless event of all time. Okay, not pointless for the companies, but kind of pointless for us. Except we get to look at all the pretty figures again? The goodies from Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Phat! Company, Wing, and FREEing were on display, along with several of the Nendoroids and figmas. I mean, not all of them, obviously. Because that would be a, like, 100+ picture gallery. And they’d have to haul way too much stuff over. So for now, check out the selection they had at the event! I still think something looks off with Yuudachi, but I sure am excited for yukata Aegis. • Every year there’s this weird post-Wonder Festival event that’s basically all the same stuff in a much smaller space with none of the crowds. It’s more for taking shots of the figures than actually buying them, so it’s an industry event. And every year I don’t pay attention because, you know, we literally just saw all this stuff. But this year, Wave didn’t show up to Wonder Festival! Or at least they didn’t show anything worthwhile. They brought it all to this. Who even know why. Their Beach Queens line is strangely absent, but we do have updates on their Infinite Stratos lingerie girls (which you’d think I’d love, but I don’t) and the IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls, who are looking cute–especially Ranko. • Are you ready for lots and lots of bunny girls? Because it’s FREEing, and that’s really all we expect from them anymore. And man did they deliver. There’s… a lot. Plus many other 1/4 scale gals. Ikkitousen bunnies, To LOVEru bunnies, Infinite Stratos bunnies. And announcements! They’ll be doing bunny Ryuuko from Kill la Kill and Kongou from Aoki Hagane no Arpeggio: Ars Nov, plus Eriri and Megumi from Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata. Then, the non-bunnies! A 1/4 scale Luka is coming, along with tiny swimsuit Rin & Len. We have Rin, Niko, and Hanayo from Love Live!, teeny PriPara girls, a giant Kanu, Flamie Speeddraw, the giant Hestia, and… an announcement for my fave tan Miku, finally in figure form!! Oh happy day. [UPDATE] The Tony Taka bunnies are painted!! Praise figure Jesus. Also many many more bunnies & yukata girls via Dengeki [via amiami & Wonderful Hobby]

  • We’ve seen Alter’s Yuzuruha, but of course they had lots more at Megahobby Expo! I mean, they did just show off some stuff at that IDOLM@STER event but still, many goodies to be had. There were, of course, many of their Love Live! girls (seeing as how they are doing the whole cast): the Halloween Eri was there (which is technically Alpha x Omega), along with Maki Nishikino and Nozomi Tojou. We also have two Sabers: the previously announced Saber Alter is sculpted, and they’ve announced a new school uniform one. Personally, I don’t need any more Sabers, but man the dress on that Alter… The most exciting announcement (to me) is a dual figure of Charlotte and Laura from Infinite Stratos… as catgirls! It’s just too cute. We also have sculpts for Edna from Tales of Zestiria (who I seriously thought was another Saber), along with Julius Will Kresnik from Tales of Xillia 2.¬†Gertrud Barkhorn, the last announced Strike Witch, is sculpted, and the rather risque Mea Kurosaki got a paint job along with Isuzu Sento. Check them all out below! [UPDATE] Added Yukina Himeragi from Strike the Blood [via whitenoize, prizeman_ufo & Hobby Search]

  • Wave was conspicuously absent from Wonder Festival. I thought the pressure of no one buying the insanely overpriced Beach Queens might finally be taking its toll, but it seems like they were just… saving a bunch of sculpts. And, shockingly, none of them are bikini girls! We have two stand-alone figures: one of Hestia, and another of Miho Nishizumi. Is EVERYONE making a Hestia? Sure feels like it. Then we have two girls from Infinite Stratos, Houki and Charlotte, in lingerie. I’m going to guess that they will eventually do all the girls, much like their Saber lingerie line. And considering how smitten I am with the IS cast, this is great news! They’ve shown off Houki in two colors, pink and white, with one of them presumably being an exclusive because Wave just can’t resist making crazy expensive alternate colorways. Hopefully the white is the regular release, because I like it a lot more than the pink. [via Wave’s Twitter]

  • FREEing is always up and down in terms of quality, but man do they make a lot of things I want. We’ll start with their bunny girls: did you think the long line of 1/4 scale Infinite Stratos girls was the end? Nope, they are doing… a second line, with all the girls, standing in bunny costumes. So it’s different. There’s also a pair of Tony Taka bunnies (!!), their bunny Yoko, Koneko Toujou, Chitoge, and Index. Yukata girls? We got ’em! The Steins;Gate and Girls und Panzer lines are sculpted, along with Aegis. Oh, and there’s a creepy Mikage Kuroki from Maid-san to Boin Damashii. There’s tons of new stuff, like a Miku with super awesome hair, a swimsuit Miku & Luka, and a lovely Isla from Plastic Memories. And then we have a… lot of announcements. Hestia, Luka, Angela Balzac, Meiko Shiraki, and Nodoka Haramura. Want more bunny girls? Brace yourselves. They’ll be doing Hakufu Sonsaku and Shiryuu Chouun from Ikkitousen (FINALLY continuing that line), Momo and Golden Darkness, Yuki Nagato, and Alisa from God Eater. Damn! • Aquamarine doesn’t produce a lot of figures, but there’s no doubt that they can do it well… when they try. Laura from Infinite Stratos is a good example of when they don’t try. It’s not pretty. But for the most part, they make well-sculpted figures of characters that don’t get a ton of attention. And while most of their Miyazawa lineup was (unsurprisingly) kind of old stuff, they did have one shiny new sculpt: their amazing Golden Darkness! The horns, the hair, the pose. I’m so smitten. • Miyazawa Model is one of those weird, in-between figure events. It’s not Wonder Festival or MegaHobby, but everyone shows up! Of course, there aren’t as many new figures as a “big” event, but man are there a lot of old ones and minor updates. Good Smile Company and all their umbrella companies had a huge display, full of… a lot of stuff we’ve seen before. And lots and lots of…. pictures of art of Nendoroids that aren’t finished yet! Wow, thrilling. But there is some good news! At least for IDOLM@STER fans: Phat!’s Yuriko Nanao is sculpted and looks as wonderful as you’d expect, given the rest of the line. There’s bunny girls from FREEing, a Sonico from Wing, tons of KanColle, the requisite terrifying Pochaco, and lots more. Check it all out in the gallery! [via Akibahobby]

  • This Wonder Festival, I’ve gotten the distinct impression that several companies are either phasing out or drastically turning down their figure production. Booths that used to be booming now just have a handful of figures, and Griffon is sadly a prime example of that. There was almost nothing new at their booth: basically it was all figures already up for order, and the painted version of Kerberos. It’s a shame, because they have upped their quality drastically in the past year or so: their Alleyne and Charlotte I both own and adore. As for new announcements… there was only one totally new thing, which is shocking. They’ll be doing the three girls from Ore, Twintails ni Narimasu: Tail Yellow, Tail Blue & Tail Red. They’ll also be adding Fang Lin Yin to their Infinite Stratos line. [via moeyo & Akibahobby]
