AmiAmi has this nasty habit of combining our orders into big glumps that overlap between months. So, for example, we might not get some of our January stuff until the beginning of March (yet mysteriously it will be with not just February but March items as well). You may have noticed that we skipped a January loot post: well, that’s because we didn’t even get all our figures from it until a few days ago!
But thankfully January and February seemed to be smaller months than most, so we’re just going to combine them into a mega loot post! Check it all out after the jump.

Taito has been a savior to Persona fans recently with their expansive Persona 4 Arena prize figure line, especially after MegaHouse’s “hey all the characters you want will be exclusive!” bullshit. So far they have released almost all of the main characters, it’s really just Mitsuru and Akihiko left (who will almost certainly join it eventually). Oh, and Labrys! But of course the question is, can Taito deliver?
Well Izanagi, the first in the series along with Aegis who will be out in March, just got released so we get to take a peek at the final product! Of course the paint is not perfect, but this is a prize figure after all. For $15 he looks pretty damn amazing! No major messups, and the pose looks fantastic. I can’t wait for mine!

Prize figures often reflect the current trends in larger-scale figures, for obvious reasons. It seems that at the 29th Prize Fair, Taito had a few tricks up their sleeve that most people seemed to miss: Aeigs & Izanagi from Persona 4 Arena and Soniko in her Tiger Parka outfit! The Tiger Parka is a big fan-favorite, so it’s great to (finally) see a figure of it. And while we certainly don’t want for figures of Aegis or Izanagi, these ones look to be quite nice given their low price. I think they’ll go well with Taito’s previous sets!

The week after Wonder Festival we really don’t see that many releases from companies. In fact, they’re usually so busy moving stuff back and resting up that this week would be a “dead week” with only a few figures going up for order. Well, we’re not exactly bursting at the seams with them, but we do have enough for a roundup! And some very nice ones at that, including (finally) another one of Alter’s Witches, Meat from Good Smile Company, and a really big bunny girl. So hit the jump to check them all out!

A while back, Bandai revealed that they’d be working on two of the special Izanagi variant Personas from Persona 4: Izanagi-no-Okami and Magatsu Izanagi. Magatsu Izanagi ended up being an exclusive (as did the MegaHouse version!), so it seemed like Okami would go the same route. Well, we have his release info now and it seems like he will be a standard run! Which means yes, you can own this badass ultimate Persona. The bad news? It’s another November release, but at ¥3,800 he’s not exactly going to break the bank!

MegaHouse has been going all-out on their Persona 4 line recently: we got a Teddie-centric mini series, the announcement of Rise & Chie in the High Priestess line, and Yuu will be going up for order next week. Now we’re getting a fancy recolor of their first figure in the line, Izanagi! This is his Magatsu Izanagi form, aka bitchin’ red.
He’ll retail for only ¥8,000 but of course he’s an exclusive. And not a regular exclusive, a Summer Wonder Festival exclusive. So this is probably going to be pretty hard to get, but hopefully they make enough so that he pops up frequently on the after-market!
They are also teasing some new announcements on their Persona page: there are 3 empty slots in the High Priestess line (meaning maybe Naoto?!), one in the GCC DX line, and one in the minifigure section. There’s no GEM section yet since we haven’t seen full shots of Yuu painted, but it kind of seems like they are taking on the whole cast. Hopefully we see a ton of announcements at Wonder Festival!

MegaHobby Expo is like a smaller, toned-down version of Wonder Festival. However, there are always some goodies, usually courtesy of the event’s main company, MegaHouse. This year they have 5 items they’ll be offering up! The first is a Scarlet Sprite version of their 1/7 Haruka Amami, which will retail for ¥7,000. There will also be a red and white colorway of the Pirate Captain Liliana, priced at ¥8,000: she even comes with a special art card! Neither of these really does it for me: Haruka is Christmas colored and Liliana… well, I like the pink & black a lot better. Seeing as how I have the original versions of both of these figures, there’s no real draw here for me.
The chibi sets are a totally different story though! There’s a set of 3 Tiger & Bunny figures for ¥1,500 featuring Kaburagi T. Kotetsu and two versions of Wild Tiger. Then we have a chibi set of Madoka Kaname and Homura Akemi for ¥1,000 that I might kill people to own. And to top it off, a set of two Persona 4 keychains: the MC and Izanagi! These are special colorways, with the MC in white and Izanagi with a gold & red color combo that’s quite similar to Magatsu Izanagi.
All of the exclusives will be both at the event and available afterwards as mail-order items. Which means if you’re really dying for one and you don’t live in Japan, they should be available at proxies. Mini Madoka set, you will be mine!

Ichiban Kuji is a curse among collectors–awesome figures that are nearly impossible to get! But now Banpresto has a new way to torture us with their Special Kuji line, especially the Persona 4 prizes we’ve been seeing recently. They have been painted for a while, but we’ve only seen some rather small and undetailed images. Now we get to take a closer look, and they really do look nice! The best part, though, is that their bases all fit together to form an awesome display.
The Teddie glasses-holder is definitely my favorite, but the scaled figures do look nicely detailed and Chie’s pose is fantastic. Then there are the little chibi figures, including an adorable Nanako! Hopefully these should be popping up on Mandarake and Yahoo Japan soon, but don’t expect them to be cheap.
