Izaya Orihara Archive

  • Some of the first figures in Alter’s all-boy Altair line were Izaya and Shizuo, who were popular enough to get second editions even. So I guess it’s natural for them to make more Durarara! boys for us, and we got a surprise announcement for one at Animate Girls Festival. And I do mean surprise: he was fully sculpted & painted and came out of nowhere! We’ve been waiting patiently since then, and I really thought we’d get a Valentine’s order date given his lovey-dovey color scheme and the heart in his wire. Well, they’re only a little late! And everything about him is fantastic. Dynamic boy figures are just so rare, and I think he’d go fantastically with Max Factory’s Aoba. Orders open tonight! [via Alter’s Blog]

  • Animate Girls Festival seems like it’d be an event dedicated to female figures (so, you know, basically every other event). But no, it’s an event… for girls! Who like dude figures. So today we’re bringing you some manly (and less manly) men. Including, most importantly, our header figure: based Alter finally made a dynamic guy! Thank you, figure Jesus, for this figure of Durarara’s Izaya Orihara. The rest of it was basically all the Touken Ranbu. Max Factory/Orange Rouge’s Mikazuki Munechika and Tsurumaru Kuninaga are painted, and we have the sculpt for Kotobukiya’s Hotarumaru is sculpted (and SO adorable). There was a lot of Nendo stuff going on: the announcements for Hotarumaru and Doutanuki Masakuni were out, Ichigo Hitofuri is painted, and Yagen Toushirou is sculpted. Aniplex’s amazing Ciel, Toy’s Works’ Sousuke Yamazaki from Free!, and Nendoroid Clear all showed up too. [via whitenoize & Orange Rouge]

  • Orange Caramel is Good Smile Company’s new all-boy imprint, much like how Alter has Altair. And they really brought a lot to Wonder Festival! I mean, like 90% of them are from Touken Ranbu, but it’s still a lot of stuff! Let’s start with the non-Touken. We are getting figmas of Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima from Durarara! So what Touken Ranbu stuff are we getting? Scales of Nakigitsune, Gokotai, Mikazuki Munechika (who is sculpted!), Yamatonokami Yasusada, Kashuu Kiyomitsu, and Shishiou. There’s a lot of Nendoroids, too! Shokudaikiri Mitsutada is sculpted, then we have announcements for Yagen Toushirou and Ichigo Hitofuri. Not enough? We’re getting figFIX too. Phew, so many boys! • We’ve looked at the Lelouch, Sailor Moon, Guilty Gear, and Cure Peace S.H.Figuarts & D-Arts, but to no one’s surprise there were a ton more on hand at Tamashii Nations 2012. They had Hakumen from BlazBlue, Nagisa Motomiya from AKB0048, Mei Misaka and Izumi Akazawa from Another, Golden Darkness, Alicia from God Eater Burst, the Durarara!! boys we saw at Dengeki’s 20th, and Aoi Ichikawa from Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger. Check them all out and more in the gallery! [via Charanet’s Facebook]

  • While Alter has given us some lovely figures from the boys of Durarara!!, they really haven’t seen a lot in the way of figure attention. And why not? I mean, how cute would Nendos of these two be?! Well, we’re not getting Nendoroids, but instead Bandai is adding Izaya Orihara and Shizuo Heiwajima to their S.H.Figuarts action figure line. And we have a super blurry photo of them. Hooray! It’s nice to see more boys always, and I really love the design of both of these cuties (but especially Izaya). Come to me! [via wk333]

  • Last week was a holiday in Japan, so we had almost no pre-orders aside from figma Nanoha and the AlphaMax Nanoha! But don’t fear, we’re back in business this week! There are quite a few boys this time around, both new and old. While we have no figmas Good Smile makes up for it with three Nendoroids, as well as some cute smaller figures from their umbrella companies. Then, of course, we have the girls: tall girls, tiny girls, ghost girls, they’re all in here, so hit the jump and let’s get started!
