Toy Fair 2018: Kotobukiya’s X-Men ’92 ArtFX+ Gallery
Posted by Stephen Donaldson on February 17, 2018 | 1 CommentKotobukiya’s been on a bit of a nostalgia trip lately, first with their DC Comics Super Powers line and now with their amazing ArtFX+ of the ’92 X-Men. Featuring Cyclops, Beast, Jubilee, and Wolverine so far, these flat-colored figures bring that iconic show from the screen to real life. I really love the color choice here and lack of shading as it fits with the style of the original quite well and I really love that these are all quite whimsical as well. My personal favorite is Beast and his suave look, but all four are quite great, and at about $40 a figure, these are quite affordable too. Who do you want to see added to the line? Let us know in the comments!

Toy Fair 2015: Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Figures
Posted by Leah Bayer on February 16, 2015 | 3 CommentsWe’ve already taken a peek at the two new Bishoujos at Toy Fair: Sakura and Sniper Wolf. But of course they had a whole lot more at the event! I mean, it’s kind of their signature line, at least in the US market. There were plenty of the older and soon-to-be released girls like Freddy & Jason and Batwoman, along with all those new announcements from the past few weeks: Raven, Lady Deadpool, Tali, and Wasp. There’s also a look at Black Canary’s long-awaited new sculpt! We’ll be bringing you full galleries of all the new girls later this week (including She-Hulk with the new face), so what Bishoujos are you currently looking forward to?

Plastikitty Review: Kotobukiya’s Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee
Posted by Leah Bayer on December 18, 2014 | 4 CommentsRecently, I’ve been nostalgia-ing hard for all things 80’s and 90’s. I put the blame on the recently-read Ready Player One, but no matter the cause I am craving a little bit of 90’s in my life. And how better to get it than with everyone’s favorite mall rat/X-man/vampire?
That’s right, today we will be taking a look at Kotobukiya’s Jubilee! Her announcement came as a bit of surprise: while she has a cult following, she’s not nearly as well-known as the other Marvel Bishoujos in the works like She-Hulk. But Kotobukiya caters to the fans, so here she is–all finished and shiny and ready for a review.

NYCC 2014: Kotobukiya’s Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee Gallery
Posted by Leah Bayer on October 22, 2014 | No CommentsBishoujo Jubilee is only two months away from release, though it must seem like a lifetime for fans of the character: she is definitely one of the most under-represented Marvel girls! I mean, she’s a mall rat/gymnast with sparkly powers who happens to be a vampire. Kind of hard to sell unless you love the 80’s/90’s with a passion… like some writers on this site.
We’ve seen a few galleries of her already, but it was pretty impossible not to take her for a test drive at NYCC. So head on into the gallery and check out everyone’s favorite teenage misfit in action!

Take A Closer Look At Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee
Posted by Leah Bayer on August 19, 2014 | 6 CommentsI’m pretty sure there’s no such thing as “too much Jubilee.” I mean, we waited a long time for her, and she’s just so glorious. The art was perfect, the sculpt was perfect, and now she’s here. Looking amazing. So, so 80’s-tastic.
Jubilee has made me crave some Jem and the Holograms Bishoujos. Can you imagine? I can. They’d be the pinnacle of Bishoujo amazingness.

SDCC 2014: Kotobukiya’s Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee
Posted by Leah Bayer on July 29, 2014 | 8 CommentsKotobukiya was one of the very few companies to make appearances at both San Diego Comic Con and Wonder Festival. Why do these two events overlap? To drive bloggers crazy, I assume. But it also means that Kotobukiya has to split up the goodies. For example, we get painted Batwoman and Japan gets painted Juri.
Oh, and they get Jubilee. What’s up with that! We love her more, I tell you! MORE! But at least we can all gaze upon her lovely art together *sob*

Kotobukiya’s Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee
Posted by Leah Bayer on July 15, 2014 | 9 CommentsIs your collection missing an 80’s glam rock manic pixie dream girl with sparkly superhero powers who may or may not be a vampire? Chances are that doesn’t fit any lady in your collection, because Jubilee is certainly… unique in many regards. Her absolute absurdity is what makes her adorable!
We saw that teaser only a few days ago, and now she’s all painted and ready to rock. Though missing any special effect parts, sadly. Ahh, I can just picture her up on stage with Gem. Seriously, this is like a punk girl group outfit. Has there ever been an X-Men pop band? There should be. Starting now. Obviously Dazzler needs to join. But who will the lead singer be?!

Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee Is Almost Complete!
Posted by Leah Bayer on July 10, 2014 | 3 CommentsI have to admit, when we found out that Kotobukiya would be showing us the sculpting process behind Bishoujo Jubilee, I didn’t think we would be getting a look at the whole thing! But here we are, with what is (nearly) the full sculpt.
Koto notes that this is still a rough version and tweaks will be made, but she looks pretty great to me! And the face preview we saw earlier is definitely keeping true to Shunya’s art. I can’t wait to see how they do her effect parts!

Kotobukiya Is Hard At Work On Marvel Bishoujo Jubilee
Posted by Leah Bayer on July 8, 2014 | 2 CommentsIt has been quite some time since Kotobukiya showed off the art for Bishoujo Jubilee–well, quite some time in Marvel Bishoujo terms, at least, because they seem to constantly be the fastest Bishoujos to make it to production. But finally we are getting a peek at her sculpt! Or, you know, part of it. Just her head. This week they will be giving us a behind-the-scenes look at the sculpting process, and I’m liking what we are seeing so far!

Toy Fair 2014: Kotobukiya’s Bishoujo Figures
Posted by Leah Bayer on February 16, 2014 | No CommentsThe Bishoujo line is Kotobukiya’s bread and butter, especially for the US market, so of course they had a ton on hand for this year’s Toy Fair! Sadly no new announcements since it seems like they’ve been posting all the high-res art to Facebook, but we got a close look at a lot of the new designs! Freddy & Jason, Jubilee, Nina Williams and Juri.
A few sculpts were on display as well, including the totally gorgeous Spider-Woman whose final base we are finally getting a peek at! Of course we will have full behind-the-glass galleries of all the brand-new sculpts later on as well~
