Juri Archive

  • So, about a week ago we got a peek at Bishoujo Juri’s promotional shots. And as I suspected, we’re getting the full reveal only a few weeks later! We’ve seen a lot of Juri recently, but given that she’s from the Game Bishoujo line that’s not really a huge surprise. Whereas the Marvel and DC Bish lines have pretty devoted fans, it seems like the game & movie ones are being pushed to a different & wider audience. I’m kind of surprised Juri has leggings on under her, uh, harem… chaps? but indeed they were in the original art! For some reason I was expecting a semi-bare butt. You know, with it being Shunya and all. But I love the pop of pink they give! I think I’m just overly-excited about a pink-themed Bishoujo. There really aren’t enough pink superheroines. • The wait for Bishoujo Juri seems like it’s been a really long one, even though her art reveal was really only about 6 months ago. Then we got a double dose–her sculpt at SDCC, and the painted version at Wonder Festival. Surely orders must be close at hand! Well, we’ve got… one painted promotional shot! While agree with the complaints that she’s significantly ore busty than her original art, I’m really liking the rest. Probably because pink + black and whacky twintails are two of my biggest weaknesses. But what do you think, Street Fighter fans? [via Kotobukiya Japan’s Blog]

  • We have seen a lot of Street Fighter Bishoujo Juri recently. Her art, her sculpt, the painted version even. But you know what we haven’t seen? Her butt. And as you know, that’s the most important part of a Bishoujo. But we here at Plastikitty strive to bring you the most important figure news, and that means butts. Juri’s butt. It’s looking pretty nice! I’ve heard some complaints about her bust size, but I mean… this is Shunya so it shouldn’t really come as a shock. I’m pretty happy with everything else, including her hair & face. And, of course, the booty. [Pictures from our wonderful SDCC correspondent, Anne Mortensen-Agnew!]

  • Well we JUST saw the sculpt reveal for Juri at San Diego Comic Con, but it seems like they were holding out on the US. That’s right, they brought the best Bishoujo goodie to WonFest. The painted version of Juri! While I do think she could be a little less busty, I am loooving the color scheme and her smirk. Perfection! [via Kotobukiya’s Twitter]

  • Kotobukiya had a lot of Bishoujo teasers lined up for their gaming division: art for both Anna and Sakura, and we had hints that there would probably be a sculpt as well. But boy oh boy did they deliver at this event! The art for Anna and Sakura is out on display (note: right now we don’t have a good angle on Anna, we’re working on it!) and Juri is sculpted and I NEED HER SO BAD. Then there are two brand-new, unteased announcements: Chun-Li will be getting a second, pink outfit and Poison will be joining the Street Fighter lineup! OH HAPPY DAY [UPDATE] Full art for Anna has been added via Harada! [UPDATE 2] Art for Sakura added via Koto {Please note that transphobia in the comments, including use of the word “trap,” will not be tolerated} [via Piziitoys’ Facebook]

  • The Bishoujo line is Kotobukiya’s bread and butter, especially for the US market, so of course they had a ton on hand for this year’s Toy Fair! Sadly no new announcements since it seems like they’ve been posting all the high-res art to Facebook, but we got a close look at a lot of the new designs! Freddy & Jason, Jubilee, Nina Williams and Juri. A few sculpts were on display as well, including the totally gorgeous Spider-Woman whose final base we are finally getting a peek at! Of course we will have full behind-the-glass galleries of all the brand-new sculpts later on as well~

  •   Usually Kotobukiya saves all the Bishoujo reveals for Toy Fair (which is next week!), but this time around they had quite a few at Wonder Festival. First Starfire, and now the art for Juri! Which features my nemesis, underboob. I was hoping she’d be the first among the Street Fighter series that I’d actually want, but that face.. it’s not for me. I’m gonna chalk this whole line up as a loss, based on the fact that I hate the SF designs. But fans of the series, what do you think? Yay or nay? [via Figure/GK]

  • At NYCC this year, Kotobukiya had quite a lot of Street Fighter goodies: we got to take an up-close look at Bishoujo Chun-Li, they showed off the art for Cammy (who is already painted!), and we got one new announcement: Juri! Of course there was no real art, just a purple outline on a black background. Well, folks, now we have… a black outline on a purple background! Wow, such updates. Much progress. Actually, her popping up on Kotobukiya’s Facebook probably means that her art is well underway and we will (hopefully) see it soon! I expect some progress by Toy Fair at the latest. • Video games are a great pass time for many of us, but when we’re not playing video games, it’s great to have figures of our favorite characters to look at! We already showed you that Cammy and Juri are next up in the Street Fighter world, but before they hit the shelves next year, Chun Li will kick her way into stores in February. In the world of Tekken, Ling Xiayou and Jun Kazama were shown off, who will come out in November and March, respectively. After all of the fighting game announcements, it was revealed that the Halo franchise will be seeing its return to the ArtFX line, which many fans will be happy to hear. Last, a Batman 1/10th scale ArtFX+ from Arkham City was shown off along with an announcement that Arkham Origins figures are also in the works.

  • It was kind of a big deal when Kotobukiya scored the Street Fighter license and added the girls to their Bishoujo line at NYCC 2 years ago, but it’s been slow going since them. In fact, it was just recently that we saw the painted Chun Li (who, by the way, we’ll be taking a closer look at later on at the convention!). It seems like the line’s finally moving a bit faster, because we have two pieces of news for you. The first is the art for Cammy: if you’re a fan of hers, I’m sure you’re probably pleased. Me… not so much. Boob & butt pose, oh my! Cammy, is your spine a turret?! I’ve never been a fan of hers so I didn’t really expect to be excited by the art. However I am looking forward to the new announcement: Juri will be the third girl in the lineup!
