Justice League Archive

  • Finally, it has happened. We’ve know about Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line for a while, and in fact Nightwing has been finished for quite some time, but I have been counting down the hours until I got to see him in person. And it was glorious. Just look at that butt! They didn’t even neglect the bulge ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am all about equal opportunity sexy figures. Oh, they had more than Nightwing in their DC section, though! A lot, actually. The star for me was the huge ArtFX Wonder Woman who is just… so beautiful. Dead-on likeness for Gal. They also had a ton of ArtFX+ figures, both the Justice League line and the TV show line. And many Bishoujos, of course! Hit the jump to see them all in action.

  • I’ve never really understood the ‘Marvel vs DC’ mentality (don’t most comic fans read them both?) but if I was absolutely forced to pick I would be on Team DC. Because I’m basic as heck and I love Batman. So sue me! And, of course, I love me a good DC figure. Like the new Katana art they had out! Kotobukiya had quite a few DC figures on display at Toy Fair, like the huge 1/6 scale Justice League (well, at least Batman/Superman/Flash/Wonder Woman/Green Lantern). And Bishoujos Harley Quinn, Wonder Girl, the Killing Joke statue (which is getting a re-release), the Villains line in all their evil glory, and some of the classic cartoony ArtFX+.

  • Kotobukiya is perhaps the best company at tailoring their content based on location. At a Japanese event like Wonder Festival it’s almost all anime/game girls, with a smattering of comic content-usually focused on the Bishoujos. But for a US event like Toy Fair, man oh man, it’s a comic fan’s dream. They brought lots of DC-related goodies to the event, including the brand spanking new Joker ArtFX+ you can see in the header. Personally, I don’t really like New 52 Joker, but the design with the gun behind the back is pretty nifty. We also have the Batman V Superman statue, the Justice League ArtFX+, and tons more. Check it all out in the gallery!

  • While the shining star of Kotobukiya’s DC lineup at Comic Con was undoubtedly the new Zatanna sculpt, they had a lot more to offer! Like the Justice League ArtFX+ line, Bishoujo Starfire (who we will be reviewing in the upcoming days!), the uncolored sculpt for Bishoujo Batwoman, the drool-worthy ArtFX Wonder Woman, and tons more. Check them out below.

  • It feels like we have seen the main lineup of the Justice League ArtFX+ a whole lot over the past year or so, right? But thankfully those were not the only New 52 characters Kotobukiya had out, so there are some new (convention-wise) faces being added to the mix! Supergirl (who we will be reviewing very soon), Batgirl, Nightwing, Shazam, Black Adam, and Catwoman all showed up. Check them out in the gallery below!

  • A new convention, a new Batman statue: it’s like clockwork! Given how he is (arguably) the most popular DC character it’s not exactly surprising that Kotobukiya had yet another version of him to show off at San Diego Comc Con. This time it’s based on his Arkham City design, and I am loving the pose: like he’s about to swoop off  gargoyle and strangle a baddie! Interestingly this is part of the ArtFX+ line, so he’s rather small at 1/10 scale and thus will be super affordable (though he looks  bit bigger, no?). They also had their fully painted Man of Steel figure, along with a ton of other ArtFX+ figures: the announced Catwoman and Black Adam figures along with the new Shazam. Oh, and the whole Justice League as well! It’s nice to see them putting in so much effort to an affordable line for collectors without tons of cash to throw around. • It’s been about a year since Kotobukiya announced their ArtFX+ Justice League line, and just in time for this year’s Toy Fair they have wrapped up the whole cast. Now we’re finally getting a shot of them all together, set up just like the original Jim Lee illustration! We have, from left to right: Aquaman, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Flash and Cyborg. They look so great as a set! We know that there will be more in the line, but I wonder who is up next? Any guesses, Plastikitties? [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • It was less than a year ago that Kotobukiya unveiled their New 52 ArtFX+ Justice League line, and just as the year comes to a close we are getting a peek at the last member: Cyborg! We’ve seen Superman & Green Lantern, Flash, Aquaman, Batman and Wonder Woman previously, but we’ve known since the start that Cyborg would probably be last. Probably because he’s nowhere near as popular: personally, I really wish they’d added another female member instead of him but oh well. Cyborg has the most elaborate outfit of the new Justice League, and they’ve definitely done it justice here. He’s got a nice metallic effect going on. He’ll come out in July, and expect orders to open up soon! We know that there will be more characters in this line, so I wonder who is next? Maybe we’ll see some more ladies like Catwoman or Black Canary! [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Finally, it’s time for Wondy! She was one of the first sculpts we saw in this line, but we’ve seen Superman, Green Lantern, Flash, Batman and even Aquaman before her. Now, though, she’s done and looking fabulous. I know the pants are a bit of an issue for some people, but personally I like them. It’s odd, one side is clamoring for less sexualized superheroine outfits, but when it happens (pants Wondy, Power Girl) people come out saying how ugly they are! I think, though, that it’s a step in the right direction and appreciate what they were trying to do with the pants, even if the execution could have perhaps been a bit better. Wondy is slated for a June release in the US, and should retail for a low price like all the others. Now that she’s completed, that just leaves Cyborg! I wonder if they’ll do any other heroes after it’s completed or just wrap it up? I am really looking forward to the shot of the whole cast. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Na na na na na na na na… BATMAN! After a long wait, we are finally getting the full reveal of Kotobukiya’s 1/10 scale Batman statue. He’s the one I was looking forward to the most, so I am thrilled to finally see him finished! Of course it’s not much of a surprise, since we got that teaser only a few days ago. Given his small scale they certainly crammed a lot of detail in there, especially on his awesome cape. Bats is slated for a May release with a retail price of ¥4,200, though expect to pay only about $35 if you nab him from a US store! [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]
