Kamen Rider Archive

  • We’ve already seen some of the juicier tidbits from Tamashii Nations (Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Ranma 1/2, Digimon) but of course they had a ton more! This is Bandai we’re talking about, one of the most prolific brands, and they brought figures in full force. Can you think of a license Bandai owns? There were probably figures from it at this event. Kantai Collection, One Piece, Saint Seiya, Kamen Rider, Gintama, Precure, Mega Man, Macross, Doraemon.. it’s all there, and tons more! The focus definitely seemed to be on Dragonball Z (not surprising since it has a new show), with a massive amount of merchandise. Including dead Goku! Which I am seriously excited about. No girls though, which is… unfortunate, but lots of muscley dudes. We also got the surprise (text-based) announcement that they will be doing Star Wars S.H.Figuarts–including Jabba the Hutt! • It’s been quite a while since we featured head-swapping fun on the site: in fact, Headswapping Figures part 2 was in last November! And the first a year before that. So I suppose it’s a once-yearly feature, which is like… totally intentional. Yup. This time we’ve got a whole host of amazing figures. Everything from sexy (Belldandy maids, anyone?), to amazing (I want the Millhiore-Kobato mashup in the header so hard), to downright absurd (Eevee as a bodybuilder). There’s a little something for everyone, even Star Wars fans and Kamen Rider aficionados, so check them out after the jump! [via 2chan]

  • Sometimes, when browsing scouring the internet for toy news, we come across images that make us stop in our tracks and say “HUH?” Like, what is even on here it’s so weird your mind can’t really comprehend it. Usually I just move on, but today there seemed to be an overabundance of wtf going on. So of course my first thought was “well, this has to go on the site.” We’ve got a nice cornucopia of the bizarre and strange for you: everything from Sailor Moon cosplay (tame!) to Billy Herrington as a Pokemon (not so tame). Everything here is safe for life, but perhaps not so safe for your sanity. [via Figure/GK & 2chan]

  • Almost a year ago we looked at some headswapping figure fun, and now it’s time for another round! While I don’t think I’d be brave enough to lop off a figure’s head just to play around with it, there’s always someone else out there to take that risk for us. Today we’ve got plenty of headswapping shenanigans featuring Kamen Rider in a more breezy look, Precure’s resident cute animal in a more imposing state, Soniko doing a bit of cosplay, and Mugi meching it up. Of course there’s also a dose of NSFW headswaps, most of them featuring the idea of “wouldn’t it be hilarious if popular character x was super busty?” Most of these actually feature one figure, Orchid Seed’s Chichinoe. Rei, Azusa and Charlotte all get to take a new body type for a spin, and the Madoka girls get all tied up. Check them out in the gallery! [via 2chan]

  • Tamashii Nation, the event where Bandai shows off just how many figures they can make in a year, was held earlier this week. We brought you coverage of several pieces that were there: D-Arts Konohana Sakuya & Thanatos, the Chibi-Arts line, the Armor Girl Project, and Figuarts Zero from Code Geass and Macross Frontier. But of course there was more on display–a lot more! Bandai showed off goods from all the shows you would expect: One Piece, Kamen Rider, Power Rangers, Bleach, Ruroni Kenshin, Dragonball Z. But there were also some surprise additions to the Figuarts Zero line like the heroine from Rine no Lagrange and two of the girls from Senran Kagura. Check them all out in the gallery! • Well, it’s Kamen Rider’s 40th anniversary and New Zealand artist Paul Shih has created a new print in celebration! The Japanese American Cultural and Community Center held a show featuring lots of Kamen Rider tribute art and Paul Shih created this print of the Sushi Kaiju and Kamen Rider hanging out and kicking ass. Done in an ukiyo-e style like the last Sushi Kaiju print, this print features Kamen Rider and Sushi Kaiju saving a town from some bandits. This 12″ x 12″ print is an edition of 30 pieces and is available from Paul’s webstore right now as well for the low price of $35! I really love the goofiness of the print that embodies the spirit of the TV show and if this print is like his Sushi Kaiju one that I own, it’s absolutely stunning in person. So what’re you waiting for? Add this awesome print to your collection and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Kamen Rider in style! [via Paul Shih’s blog]

  • Sometimes you come across something that is so wonderfully what the fuck that you just have to share it with someone. Today, I came across one of those things. There’s a thread over on 2chan full of bizarre things, which in and of itself is not entirely groundbreaking. But you know what is? A Gundam with boobs. Actually, it’s Daiki’s 1/4 Ryomou with a Gundam head, but still… what the fuck?! The picture in question is in the gallery, along with some other choice pictures from this bizarro thread. There’s a muscular Kyuubey, one of the Idolm@ster girls having a little too much fun at the beach, Bug Rock Shooter, and Kamen Riders getting up to all kinds of wacky antics. I honestly don’t even know which of these things is more bizarre, though boob Gundam is my personal favorite. There are also two amazing pictures from Figure/GK that I just couldn’t help throwing in here: Madoka and Kyuubey having a little too much fun, and the best Spongebob picture of all time. So hit the jump for your daily dose of toy wtf-ery! [via 2chan]
