Kill Bill Archive

When Kotobukiya started the Movie Bishoujo line, I never in a million years would have guessed that there would be a Tarantino girl in the mix. But here we are, living in the future. A future of Kill Bill Bishoujos.
While I’m not a huge fan of the movie and thus not enthused about the Bishoujo, it’s still neat to see the detail work put into some of her sculpt. Take the shoes, for instance: they’re actually modeled exactly on the ones Uma wears in the film, and they had to be approved by Asics. Apparently it took a ton of attempts until they were absolutely perfect. One of those things you never really think about when looking at a figure, right? Maybe this is why most anime girls just wear generic loafers or heels…

Kotobukiya had two Bishoujo-related announcements at Toy Fair: the art for Katana and the full reveal of Kamala. But given at this is a US-centric event, they had a TON more out and about, though funnily enough most of them were from non- comic franchises. It’s amazing how big the line has grown since it started with just Marvel girls!
It was mostly movie Bishes on display: Chucky (who might be my all-time fave), Edward Scissorhands, and The Bride. Then there were some video game girls, like Rainbow Mika and Ibuki. We also know that there will be a new Chun-Li, though the sign for her was not out.

Kotobukiya is so unpredictable with their Bishoujo announcements! We always know that big events in both the US & Japan will have a few, but they tend to spring totally finished figures on us out of nowhere. Like today, when we’re getting the fully sculpted and painted Kill Bill Bishoujo! Her art was over a year ago, so perhaps it’s not so surprising that we’re getting it before 2016 is over.
I was really sold by the art, but I’m not sure how I feel about the finished version. I feel like the face is missing the angst and attitude you expect from the Bride. It’s a little too placid for my taste, though I do think the pose & outfit came out looking very on-model and happily not overly sexed up.

We’ve had a lot of Bishoujo announcements today, but this is defintiely the strangest. Stranger than girl Loki & Thor, for sure. Actually given how ~edgy~ and ~sexy~ Tarantino makes The Bride, maybe not that surprising. But I sure didn’t expect it.
That’s right, we’re getting a Kill Bill Bishoujo! With… with a zipped up top? Is such a thing even possible for Shunya to draw??
