KILL la Kill Archive

  • Ah, Amakuni. I love their figures but I hate getting them, because they are always exclusives. Unfortunately for me (and my wallet), they have so many new figures my heart yearns for. I mean first off, and most obviously, my Persona 5 gals! Anne, Motoko, Futaba (light of my life), and now… Death Waifu?! I can’t believe they’re moving on to social link romances and leaving Haru in the dust. Poor Haru. And then there’s the gorgeous Tony Taka Racing Miku (be still my heart), and Yu-Gi-Oh DX’s Jaden. They showed off quite a few new things as well, like the Satsuki and Ryuuko from Kill la Kill they are adding to the weird “hot springs bath” line or whatever that is. We’ve also got Erina from Queen’s Blade Unlimited: the second QB figure of the night! I wonder why there’s been such a resurgence? And will we be getting new, cute Ymirs in the future?! [via moeyo]

  • It’s that time again! Time to look at a few of the garage kits that will be on display and for sale at Wonder Festival. Of course for most of us this is just to drool over, but as always if you are attending the event each picture is labeled with the circle & character name! Also, I am insanely jealous of you. The trends this year are basically what you would expect. Tons of Re:Zero (and by that I mean tons of Rem & Ram, who cares about the other characters!), idol shows out in force, and quite a bit of Granblue Fantasy. Some old trends seem to be dying (there’s very little of Miku & Sonico compared to previous years). And, surprisingly, Cartoon Network is represented quite a bit. Check them all out in the gallery below, and let us know what you’d like to see as PVC! [via Grizzry Panda, mokupate, Volks, Kotopora, Primal Heart, fixia, Anadigi, Tinami]

  • At any event they attend, Good Smile Company and their numerous umbrella companies always steal the show. How can they not, with so much firepower? Of course Nendoroids were right at the forefront. Megumin, Minna-Dietlinde Wilcke, lots of KanColle (Hatsuzuki, Kiso, Pola), Caster Extra, Hajime Iwaizumi, and Boba Fett all made an appearance. And of course figmas too! We had Takao, Iowa, and Mumei on display. Max Factory brought their new To LOVEru girl, Yuuki Mikan, and we had FREEing’s bunny Ryuuko Matoi. Last but not least, there’s Phat!’s Parform Hikari Karibuchi and Saber. [UPDATE] Added a few stray figures! [UPDATE 2] Added one last announcement: 22 Niang and 33 Niang from Bilibili! A 1/4 scale Luka is coming, along with tiny swimsuit Rin & Len. • One of my favorite things about Wonder Festival is the garage kits. I mean, on one hand I can’t actually own any of them and that’s kind of sad. But on the other hand, I can’t own any of them so yay not spending money! This year we have a really great mix to share with you. There’s everything from creative to sexy to cute–a lot of cute! Cute Dark Souls, cute Sonico, cute Kill la Kill, cute Polar Bear Cafe. We also have some US shows creeping in (yes, that is Finn & Jake!), a LOT of Kantai Collection (especially the bad girls–and the good girls in swimsuits?), Miku of course, a surprising amount of Persona merch including an amazingly perfect cat Aegis, and so much more. Check it all out in the gallery: and like always, all kits are named with both the circle & character name to help you find it if you’re going to the show! • So we’ve seen a lot from Good Smile already: the Yu-Gi-Oh figures, their video game displays, and the gorgeous Sorceress. But of course there was more to be had! The star of the booth was, I think, the amazing Umaru display for the Nendoroid. It’s so elaborate: tiny Nendoroid boxes, toys, posters… so amazing! If they sold this, I would buy it. For basically any price. There was also their Kill la Kill line (with another super cute diorama!), the Ghost in the Shell figma that just went up for order, and many more. Check them all out below!

  • Wonder Festival is a little over 24 hours away, and you know what that means–time for the traditional roundup of the garage kits that will be available at the event! Well, obviously not all of them, because there are hundreds. And a lot of them are terrible. So we go through and weed out the best/most interesting of the bunch to bring to you! This year there is a whole, whole lot of Kantai Collection. Even more than at Winter Wonder Festival! There’s also, no surprise, a ton of Sailor Moon figures since the license is open. Though there’s a surprising lack of Cardcaptor Sakura. We also have the traditional batch of kits from Cerberus Project and T’s System, along with tons tons more from franchises like Dark Souls, Evangelion, Vocaloid, and Monster Hunter. Check them all out after the jump! And like always, kits are labeled with their circle so if you happen to be at WonFest, you can snatch them up. • Pretty much the only item I was interested in from Good Smile Company’s Summer WonFest exclusives lineup was the Nendoroid Mako, which is funny because I emphatically dislike Kill la Kill. But I mean, this is a pretty irresistible Nendoroid (if you like Nendos). All those extra parts! And today Kahotan is bringing us a closer look at this cutie. Of course all the extras, especially the two different crying parts and her varied expressions, seem to be the real attention-grabber, but this is an all-around detailed Nendoroid. Her outfit looks fantastic and has some great paintwork, and the poses seem very well thought-out. Is she nice enough to warrant the 2k shipping from Good Smile, though? Yes. The answer is yes. I want, like, five of her. And if you don’t feel like waiting until Wonder Festival and happen to be going to Anime Expo, she will be at the event! [via Kahotan]

  • We’re a little over a month away from Summer Wonder Festival–so it might seem a little early to start doing any teasing or revealing, but I guess it’s not for Good Smile Company and co because they just unveiled the full lineup of their exclusives! I tend to find their Summer offerings a lot more boring than the Winter ones and this year is no exception: I actually only like one of the figures (and it’s from a show I hate, go figure). So let’s start with the plus: we’re getting that Fight Club version of Mako Mankanshoku which was shown off at Winter WonFest. She’s so cute and the alt faces are amazing! You can snag her for ¥4,167. We’ll also be getting the cheerleader Nendoroid More bodies, which are a mere ¥833 per blind box: but of course you can get a whole case of them! Then there’s a lot of IM@S Cinderella Girls. We have a Nendoroid set, full sized, of Rin, Uzuki, and mom-hair Mio (why is she so popular?! argh) in super cute stage outfits (FINALLY), but they have zero accessories which kind of blows. The set of three will run you ¥6,019. Then we have figmas of Rin and Uzuki that make me want to throw things. Because instead of cute stage outfits, it’s… jogging gear. WHY? These will be ¥4,630 each. These will be at the event, but online orders will open July 26th and run until August 3rd. Are you interested in any of these girls? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life site]

  • I have such mixed feelings about garage kits. On one hand, it’s awesome to see all the creativity that happens when sculptors aren’t restricted by licensing agreements and the somewhat limited poses you can do with PVC. On the other hand, I can’t have them. So, you know, it’s nice to window shop but holy crap do I want motorcycle Mari so bad. This weekend there was yet another Treasure Festa–only 13, it seems like there are a million more doesn’t it? We always see some amazing garage kits at these events, possibly even more than Wonder Festival since it’s really a gk-only convention, and this year was no exception. The wares definitely reflect current figure trends… to a point. There was almost no KanColle to be seen, but a whole lot of Sailor Moon, Super Sonico, and Vocaloids. We’ve handpicked the best of the bunch, so check them all out in the gallery! [via moeyo & Akibahobby]
