  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • We’ve seen all of the new goodies that Good Smile Company had a toy fair already, like Nendoroid Tracer, the Portal 2 figmas, and Nendoroid Link. But of course they had more than 3 figures out! That would be pretty odd, right? A big booth with just 3 things. Very ominous. Anyway, they had lots of their more US-centric licenses out on display, like the Naruto Nendoroids… which are USA only! Weird, right? But cool. There was also a lot of Zelda, Dota 2, Fire Emblem, Metroid, Suicide Squad, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and of course… that amazing Disney announcement. Check ’em all out below the jump!

  • I was excited for Nendoroid Kirby, but admittedly a lot more excited when they announced Meta Knight as a companion figure. I mean, he’s like a lil evil medieval knight Kirby, what’s not to love? Maybe him kicking your ass in Brawl. Sadly, though perhaps expectedly, he doesn’t come with quite as many accessories as Kirby. There’s his sword, a cool effect part, and both his eyes and wings are poseable. But no removable mask! Missed opportunity right there. He retails for ¥5,000 and is set for a March release date. Pre-Order At: HLJ | AmiAmi

  • Sometimes I feel like Wonder Festival should change its name to Nendoroid Festival. We’ve already seen a TON so far tonight: all the boys from Orange Rouge, Kantai Collection, IDOLM@STER, the Li announcement, and the new Link. But there are over 35 more to come. So let’s get right to it! We’ve got a Fate/Stay Night triple threat (Shielder, Caster, & Lancer), MetaKnight, Koutetsujou no Kabaneri, Macross Delta, Mazinger Z, Miku Hatsune, Mahou Tsukai no Yome, Biohazard, Boku no Hero Academia, High School Fleet, Touhou Project, Rockman.exe, Fire Emblem, Deadpool, Suicide Squad, Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku o!, The King of Fighters (Mai, what a surprise!), Thunderbolt Fantasy, Madoka Magica, Girls und Panzer, Saenai Heroine no Sodatekata, and so much more. We also have the results of the Nendoroid request poll, which is why we got Li and Kiso. We’ll also be getting Edward Elric, Erwin Smith, and (finally) Holo! [via Wonderful Hobby Life]

  • Good Smile is pretty much the progenitor of the Wonder Festival teasers trend, so it’s no surprise that once again they went all out with them. They gave us a whopping 13 this year! So let’s just dive in, starting with scaled figures. We’ve got a new Mami from Madoka (probably matching the newer Madoka/Homura ones), Megumi Katou is painted, as are Yotsugi Ononoki from the Monogatari series and KanColle‘s Bismark. Of course the Nendoroids are where it’s at! Metaknight is painted, we’ve got Ookurikara from Touken Ranbu, Chuuya Nakahara from Bungou Stray Dogs, KanColle‘s Libeccio, Freyja Wion and Mikumo Guynemer from Macross Delta, Akeno Misaki from Discount KanColle… I mean High School Fleet, Mumei from Koutetsujou no Kabaneri. Plus you know that’s going to be barerly a 5th of the Nendos they have at the event… [via Kahotan]

  • We saw a lot of individual galleries from Good Smile Company this Toy Fair: figma Samus, the scaled Link, Batman & Superman Nendoroids, figma Yugi, the Zelda Nendoroid, and the Genos Nendoroid. But of course they brought so much more to the event! Like the amazingly goofy art-based figmas, the just-arrived Nendoroid Kirby (who was popular enough to get a re-release literally the day he came out), many of their Nintendo-based Nendoroids, and beautiful scaled figures like Dark Magician Girl and some of their many Mikus. We even got to see Zwyer’s Legend Of Korra figures. Check them all out in the gallery!

  • The first time I played Super Smash Bros Brawl, I picked Meta Knight because he looked fat and cute. We all know how that worked out for poor Meta Knight–not so good. But his luck is turning! Because he’s getting a Nendoroid, finally. Kind of no surprise given the crazy success of the Kirby Nendo, but I’m so happy to finally see some merchandise of him! [via Wonderful Hobby Life]

  • You have to wonder why Nintendo (and other video game companies) took such a long time to open up their licenses. Given the huge success they’ve had with Bandai and Good Smile Company, can you imagine all the figures we could have had? I know, it’s a tragedy. But thankfully we have them now, and GSC has really been leading the pack. If you thought their Toy Fair display was impressive, wait till you see what they had for NYCC! Well, we saw that preview of the Link figma & scaled figure, but we have tons more pictures. Along with the Link figma and Toon Link Nendoroid, as well as figures from Mario, Kirby, Animal Crossing, Megaman, Fire Emblem… and more! Check them all out below.

  • Usually there’s a bit of a gap between Good Smile Company’s Nintendo Nendoroids, but just a week after Nendoroid Link, we’re getting a full preview of Kirby! I have to say, when this was first announced I was… skeptical. I mean, Kirby doesn’t have joints. Which are basically the core element of Nendoroids. So how would he come out? Pretty damn awesome, it turns out! I will admit that I think the print for his eyes is a bit grainy and not as clean as I’d like, but everything else looks great. Like Link, he comes with a billion accessories: 4 expressions (happy, angry, gulping, chubby), each on their own separate body, his star rod, a maxim tomato (sadly a GSC shop exclusive), the Link hat & sword, and fire effect and outfit parts. That’s… a LOT of stuff. Orders open Sunday night! [via Kahotan]
