Lady Deadpool Archive

  • Kotobukiya recently released their Lady Deadpool Bishoujo (review), and I have to say, I was not expecting an alternate version of her to pop up! But they always bring at least one recolor/resculpt to San Diego Comic Con and this year it will be Wanda. This version of her has the same basic pose, but with quite a few changes. Most notably, she has a half-unmasked face with the signature Deadpool weirdness (though it looks like the lesions have been tamed down to cuter-looking scars). She’s also got a gyro and a really adorable cloth Kotobukiya tote bag & a SDCC bag. Aww, for all her SDCC figure shopping! She will retail for $74.99 at their booth #2601 during the event. All of her new pieces are interchangeable with the original, so if you have both you can probably come up with some really interesting combos. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Deadpool is all the rage right now, so it’s really no surprise that Kotobukiya chose to loosely coincide the release of their Lady Deadpool Bishoujo with the film being in theaters. Something I didn’t even realize when her release date was first announced! This is probably the slowest a Bishoujo has ever taken to go from announcement to release. I mean, she was teased almost 4 years ago, and we didn’t get the art until winter last year! Talk about a long wait. So was it all worth it? Hit the jump and let’s find out!

  • We’ve seen the DC figures, so of course Marvel is next! Do you ever feel like DC/Marvel is the 2-party system of comics? Like, maybe there are some better options out there, but we all just keep giving money to the big guys. Ahem. Anyway, they had the big new announcement–the art for Spider Gwen–out, along with lots of other girls (and guys!). Lady Deadpool was of course the big Bishoujo focus, and she looked great. We also had the new X-Men ArtFX+ line which features some of the more obscure characters (and, you know, Magneto of course). Plus Iron Man, Deadpool, and more! Check them all out in the gallery.

  • Lady Deadpool was a figure we thought was dead and gone. I mean, she was announced in 2012! But like her character, she apparently has regenerative abilities because here we are. 3 years later, a sculpt appeared! And with all the hype (and endless “no it’s a real character not genderbent Deadpool,” conversations), of course we had to take a closer look at her at NYCC. They had her on display with her unmasked head, and while I prefer the masked one (that crazy hair!) I do enjoy her full face. I mean, it’s perfect Shunya plus she looks a little unhinged. And the 70’s hair! Her body sculpt in person is pretty damn fantastic, and while her butt might not be quite as fine as some other Bishoujos it’s just wonderfully detailed.

  • After possibly the longest time ever for a Bishoujo to go from announcement to art, Lady Deadpool has been moving along at a rather breakneck speed. We saw the sculpt at San Diego Comic Con, the painted version at Wonder Festival, and now she’s all ready for orders! That’s a six month turnaround time, which is pretty speedy… well, maybe not so much for the Marvel Bishoujos, who seem a lot faster than some of the other lines. Like we’ve seen before, Lady Deadpool comes with two faces: masked and unmasked. Thankfully the unmasked version still has her holding the mask (and a bonus grenade, because Deadpool)! I have to say, I love the masked version to death: the sinister outfit combined with the playful pose is so dead-on. The unmasked face is pretty dead-on to Shunya’s art, but I’m definitely keeping the mask on 24/7. I mean, dat ponytail. [via Kotobukiya’s Facebook]

  • Kotobukiya showed us quite a bit in previews, but of course there are always surprising things on display! This year there’s a lot of Tony Taka: the new butterfly sister is sculpted, and we have several of the Shining girls on display: the gorgeously perfect Rinna Mayfield, and Kirika. The Bahamut girls are out as well, along with Shinobu & Maia Tsukigane from the teasers. Plus Fuyuka Yukishiro from magazine scans. There were, of course, boys on display too! They’re making a figure of Mikleo from Tales of Zestiria, plus two Touken Ranbu guys: Hotarumaru and Shokudaikiri Mitsutada. There’s also new Kantai Collection girls: Akatsuki & Hibiki. Not enough announcements? They are also working on a figure from Dragon III and Chino Kafuu. Plus tons more. Check it all out in the gallery! [via AmiAmi’s Facebook]

  • Sadly, Plastikitty was not able to get to San Diego Comic Con this year. Well, not sadly for our wallets. Very happily for our wallets. But for our event coverage? Pretty sad. Thankfully, we had some awesome help so we could still bring all our lovely readers shots of the figures at SDCC! Because as we know, Kotobukiya brought basically every Bishoujou they’d had up their sleeve for the past six months. Tali, Spider Gwen, Lady Deadpool, Poison, Harley Quinn v 2, Raven, Zatanna? All here! And, of course, you can check them out in the gallery. We got an especially close look at Poison, who I think there was the most hype about. I mean, given the long wait, that’s to be expected! And (of course) reviews are mixed. Is she too sexy? Is she not sexy enough? Depends on who you ask. Personally, I’m… not sure. I love her face, hair & pose, but I’m not sold on the hips. As for the rest of the Bishoujos? I’m particularly enamored with Lady Deadpool! [Thanks to the amazing Anne Mortensen-Agnew for providing us with these images! <3]

  • Lady Deadpool has probably been the Bishoujo in the works for the longest. I mean, her announcement was over three years ago! We got her art at Winter Wonder Festival, so I think we were all expecting an update at SDCC. Well we got one, but it’s not the sculpt! Instead we are getting her unmasked art. We knew from the start that we’d have a masked and unmasked head, so this isn’t a big shock. What is shocking is how much I really don’t like the face/head art. She looks so… hyper-cheerful. And I knew it wasn’t going to happen, but I was kind of hoping for all the weird scars. But hey, I love her masked head, so it’s all good! [UPDATE] Her sculpt is out on display! Thankfully it is the masked version, she looks so good. Image via Itakon! [via Koto’s Facebook]

  • We’ve already taken a peek at the two new Bishoujos at Toy Fair: Sakura and Sniper Wolf. But of course they had a whole lot more at the event! I mean, it’s kind of their signature line, at least in the US market. There were plenty of the older and soon-to-be released girls like Freddy & Jason and Batwoman, along with all those new announcements from the past few weeks: Raven, Lady Deadpool, Tali, and Wasp. There’s also a look at Black Canary’s long-awaited new sculpt! We’ll be bringing you full galleries of all the new girls later this week (including She-Hulk with the new face), so what Bishoujos are you currently looking forward to?

  • We knew this was coming the other day due to Kotobukiya’s teasers, but I’m still a bit in shock at Lady Deadpool rising from the dead. The female Merc with a Mouth is here in all her glory and ready to kick some ass. I’m personally really excited for this as Lady Deadpool is an often overlooked character in the Marvel universe that really is deserving of a bit more of the spotlight especially when her male counterpart is now getting it with video games and a new live action movie. Maybe Lady Deadpool will pop up there too? Who knows. Either way, I’m glad to see at least Kotobukiya giving this badass the treatment she deserves with this upcoming bishoujo figure that will be available in January of next year.
