Levi Archive

  • Levi is definitely the most popular boy from Attack on Titan, at least in terms of figures. It seems like everyone was rushing out to make a version of him, even companies that rarely touch male characters. But the vast majority of them seemed to feature him just… standing around, looking moody. And one of the most dynamic ones had a totally disturbing base. Thankfully for Levi fans, there ended up being a small handful of dynamic figures (sans scary head bases), with one of the more notable being Kotobukiya’s take on him to go along with their Eren (review) and Mikasa (review). Today we’re reviewing the last of this trio, so hit the jump and let’s get started!

  • Medicom sure has been milking Attack on Titan to the limits in their Real Action Hero line. They’ve done pretty much all of the main cast (though no POTATO GIRL what gives), and now it’s time for… alternate versions! Which I bet you thought would be cleaning ones, but apparently Medicom wants Levi to put on his suit and tie (suit and tie suit and tie). We’ve seen haughty chair Levi in figure form before, but being able to pose him is a whole different thing. I mean, you can cross his legs either way. I KNOW RIGHT? I honestly think he’ll look totally out of place when not in the chair, which kind of makes the whole “action figure” part useless but it’s not like I could get him anyway: I’d bet a lot of money that this will be an exclusive. • Good Smile Company announced that they’d be doing the main 3 from Attack on Titan a while ago, and so far we’ve seen two completed: Mikasa and Eren. Levi honestly seems to be the most popular so I was a bit surprised that they waited so long on him, but I guess they’re saving the best for last? And by “the best” I mean… his base. I guess we could talk about the crisp sculpting and perfect paint but the base dear lord how high were they when they thought that up?! It’s going to give me serious nightmares, do not want. • Sentinel’s Attack on Titan line has been going strong for quite some time now and, I’m assuming because they like money, they’ve decided to continue it. Here at Summer Wonder Festival we’ve got a whole gang of new figures! First up is Titan Eren, who is quite large and imposing and badass. I love the detail on him and hope that he’s not all that pricey. Then we’ve got sculpts for Armin, Erwin, and Hanji as well as an announcement of a second version of Levi! Considering their first Levi came out pretty damn great, I’m really looking forward to the rest of these while we sit and wait for the inevitable continuation of the anime as well as the live action movie. • Good Smile has already taken on Mikasa and Eren, so this was really only a matter of time. Yup, they are taking on Levi! It seems like so many companies are doing full sets of the trio, it’s going to be so hard to choose just one. Have you picked a favorite yet? [via whl4u’s Twitter]

  • There are a lot of Attack on Titan figures out there, but so far every single one has featured the gang in their uniforms. Since, you know, that’s all they wear. Sometimes we get variants like “wearing an apron over the uniform!” but that’s about it. Until now! Now we’re getting what could be an amazing figure but it’s made by Union Creative so it kind of sucks. The idea of Levi in fancy clothing in a chair is great: his perpetually annoyed face is perfect for that regal, aloof vibe. And the pose! Fantastic! But the sculpting looks very, very rough and unfinished and the paint is just… ew. Plus the price! The regular edition is ¥12,500 and the DX one (which comes with an alternate expression and a hand tugging his ascot, and a different color couch) is ¥16,500. Ouch. Oh, and the DX version is an exclusive! And no proxies have orders up yet. Hmm… curious. Pre-order Regular: AmiAmi | Hobby Search | Big in Japan

  • So, we already know that the Cleaning Version of Nendoroid Levi is one of Good Smile Company’s neverending exclusives. But, of course, we are going to get previews of all of their fancy goodies. I mean, we all know that we want to buy this stuff so it seems kind of redundant. Just look at how grumpy he is. You know you want him to grumpily clean your shelves. Actually, there is some useful information here–the inside packaging of his box doubles as a kind of playset! That’s right, it’s a little castle wall and even has windows that open and close. So he can open them angrily. And glare at you. D’aww. [via Kahotan]

  • Is it really that time of year already? I feel like we just wrapped up coverage of Winter Wonder Festival, but here we are–with the reveal of Good Smile Company & Co’s Summer WonFest exclusives! Surprisingly there are no scaled figures this time around, but they made up for it with more goodies than we usually get. First up is a set of Madoka Nendoroids: Sayaka and Kyoko in their school uniforms (¥6,000)! How cute is that? I love their sitting poses. Of course there is tons of Kantai Collection stuff. A figma of Kaga (¥5,000) and two figures of my absolute favorite KanColle design: Wo-Class! We are getting both a Nendoroid (¥4,800) and a large vinyl figure from Phat! Company (¥5,000). Last, but certainly not least, is a cleaning version of figma Levi (¥4,500) which we all saw coming from a mile away. These will all be open for international orders starting on Junly 27th! [UPDATE] The amazing Nendoroid faceplates will also be WonFest exclusives, but only available online in Japan. I’m honestly at a loss for words about this because I was so looking forward to them. [UPDATE 2] Looks like they might have changed their mind on the faceplates, their Faceobok is now saying they will be available for overseas purchases! [via GSC]

  • So by now we all know that Levi is pretty much all about cleaning things. It’s his defining character trait, right? (That was a joke. Please don’t eat me, SnK fans). But it’s kind of unfair to have one guy do all the work, isn’t it? Enter Banpresto’s newest prize figure duo. This time around, Eren’s getting in on that hot hot floor mopping action! And boy do they both look excited. I mean, who doesn’t love scrubbing floors? Better than getting eaten alive by giant skinless humanoid monsters, right? [via Hobby Maniax]

  • Sometimes I get a bit annoyed at all the recolors and resculpts that are constantly pumped out by figure companies. But when this one popped up the only thing I could say was “how did I not see this coming?” Attack on Titan is a huge cash cow, but unlike similar franchises the main characters really only have one iconic outfit so we’re not going to get Madoka-levels of variation and remarketing. Except, of course, for Levi. It seems like every company wants to bring us a cleaning version of him! Now it’s time for the Nendo, who looks pretty darn cute in an apron. You probably saw this coming: he’s an exclusive! Release will take place at 4 events: Anime Expo, Comiket 86, CCG Expo, and Japan Expo. Of course if you can’t make it to one there will, of course, be an online release as well. And with a retail price of ¥3241 he won’t be breaking the bank! [via GSC]
