  • Nendoroid Sucy just went up for pre-order (AmiAmi, HLJ, HS, BIJ) so now seems like the perfect time to take a closer look at her! I must admit, every time I see her name I think it’s a typo and she’s actually Suzy. But no, this is Sucy. Like her parents couldn’t decide between Lucy and Suzy so they just combined them! But that’s neither here nor there. Something that’s much clearer in person than in her stock photos is the hair color gradient: it’s really subtle but beautifully executed. She’s such a lovely pastel baby. Actually, with that sad face and witch outfit, Sucy is pretty much pure pastel goth. One of my favorite niche fashion styles!

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Every Wonder Festival I think to myself “there can’t possibly be even more Nendoroids at the next WonFest.” Then, like magic, the Nendo Creep happens and we get at least 5-10 more than last year at the next event. It’s a plague, a really cute plastic plague. I think they’re multiplying on their own at this point. This year we have a bounty of Nendos, so let’s get into it. We’ve got Ariel, Astolfo, Mordred, Lina Inverse, Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei, Portal 2, KanColle, Meitantei Conan, Beatrice from Re;Zero, Wonder Woman, Overwatch, Mega Man, The Snack World, Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and so much more. They are all named in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. And don’t forget we’ve already seen Nendos from Orange Rouge, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Vocaloid! Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life For You site and King Junker’s Twitter]

  • It’s that time again! Wonder Festival is only 2 days away, so we’re bringing you our annual roundup of some of the best garage kits that will be at the event. Because, as you probably know, Wonder Festival has way more gks than PVC figures but we can’t get our greedy little paws on them. Plus, if we did, we can’t paint. But, as always, if you can paint/will be at the event, all images are labeled with both the circle & character name. The tides seem to be changing this WonFest. There’s very little of our usual standards, like Miku Hatsune or KanColle, and the new darling Re;Zero seems to have already fallen off. Instead we have a TON of Fate girls (both Grand Order and Extella), quite a bit of Persona 5 merchandise, and some truly stunning original characters. And more Adventure Time! Check them all out after the jump. [via i_con, horikazz, crea mode, amie grand, Akiba Weekend, moeyo, vispo, wonder showcase, mfc]

  • Anime Expo is one of the few US conventions where we actually get toy news from Japanese companies. I mean, you also have to be in LA in the middle of the summer, so there are pluses and minuses to actually going. Thankfully, we always get up-to-the minute updates from Good Smile & co so us plebes can see all the goodies they have out and about. This year we’ve got quite a bit from GSC. Previews of newly painted sculpts like the Bloodborne figma, Nendoroid Rapunzel, and Nendoroid Al. Plus we have some new brand new announcements, like Little Witch Academia Nendoroids. Check them all out in the gallery below! [via GSC’s Twitter]

  • Kalmia Project is one of those strange, brand-new NSFW companies that Native is suddenly distributing. They all seem to have Native-like quality, no? And Native themselves are distributed by GSC. It’s a confusing world of naked figures. Kalmia might be new to the scene, but they showed some awesome stuff off at Wonder Festival. They only had 3 sculpts out, but the White Elf in particular is quite impressive. There’s also a bunny girl illustrated by Ogin Bara and a demon girl illustrated by Houtengeki. And of course we have to have a few art announcements! Check ’em out in the gallery below. [via Kalmia’s Twitter]

  • Nendoroids. I love ’em, but on days like this I think to myself “why are there so many?!” We’ve seen the Nendos from Persona 5 and Fate/Grand Order. But there’s more. SO MANY MORE. We’ve got a surprise Lum, Fullmetal Alchemist cuties, Atlas & P-Body, Tony Taka Racing Miku, a new Kirby x2, Leonard Watch, Li from Cardcaptor, maiko Madoka Nendoroids, a Detective Conan quartet, new Rin & Len, even more Love Live!, Vocaloids Rin & Len, Attack on Titan, Re:Zero, a new Reimu (who looks sooo much better than the old one), Little Witch Academia, Fire Emblem, Kimi no Na wa, Ero Manga-sensei, Granblue Fantasy, Kyoukai no Rinne, Serval from Kemono Friends (so cute!! but why is the African mammal white guys), Saga of Tanya the Evil, Little Armory, Tsuki ni Yorisou Otome no Sahou, BanG Dream!, Is the order a Rabbit?, AND MORE. So much more. Like many cool Nendoroid accessories: tanks for them to ride in, penguin & bear suits, special Halloween and Christmas sets… check ’em out below, and decide what tiny plastic babies to spend your hard-earned money on. • Winter Wonder Festival is tomorrow night (along with the first day of Toy Fair–gonna be a busy day for us!) and the teaser flood is upon us. First up is the teaser king, GSC. Every year they show us so many new goodies that I think there’s no way any surprises will be left for the event… and every year I’m wrong. Like usual, we have a mix of scaled teasers and Nendo teasers. Vira from Granblue Fantasy is painted, along with Hasabe Heshikiri from Touken Ranbu. It seems like Atilla from Fate/Grand Order is too! And the Girls und Panzer Nendo Petit line is ready for action. There’s a new Miku (wow surprise!), Fate/Grand Order petits, Warspite Nendo from KanColle, Kagari Atsuko from Little Witch Academia, and more. Check ’em all out in the gallery! Who is the interesting sitting figure, I wonder? [via Kahotan]

  • Wonder Festival is now only one day away, and we’re coming to the end of our pre-event garage kit coverage! We’ve been over quite a bit, but by far the biggest category is exactly what you would expect: anime and manga related characters. This year, like pretty much every other, there’s a fantastic mix of old and new. From shows that just wrapped up to ones that ended decades ago, it’s all here! Check them all out in the gallery below and let us know your favorites. • For some bizarre reason, the US clothing store The Hundreds (which, incidentally, Stephen owns a ton of shit from), got into Good Smile Company’s offices and took a whole ton of pictures. And, surprise surprise, they’re full of tasty figure tidbits! I have a sneaking suspicion we’re not really supposed to know about all of this but OH WELL it’s so pretty. First and foremost, there’s the full reveal of their Mikasa Ackerman figure. We’ve also got the painted pieces of Phat! Company’s Kill la Kill sculpt (note: we previously thought there were 2 Ryuuko figures, but the second is in fact Shimakaze), a Saber Extra sculpt (!!), what seems to be a Little Witch Academia figure, some random Nendoroid parts (one of which looks suspiciously like a Nendoroid Archer or Gilgamesh…), and uh… a really cool sword that is ridiculously awesomely sculpted. There’s also art for 7th Dragon 2020‘s Psychic (and what seems like the sculpt underneath, squeee!), so I assume Max Factory will have a figure of her at Winter WonFest! [UPDATE] The sword is a Burst version of GSC Ciel‘s weapon. It doesn’t entirely look like it will fit on that figure, but it’s plausible that it will be an extra accessory. The series really does not seem big enough to garner 2 figures for one character from a company like GSC! I am also 99% sure the digital Nendo sculpt is of Nendoroid Gilgamesh–I wish it was Archer, but the hair isn’t quite right. There’s also a sculpt for a Shimakaze figure from Kantai Collection, along with art for Yukikaze! Not surprising, since they have a figma and Nendoroid of Shimakaze already. [via The Hundreds]
