Love Live! School Idol Project Archive

  • While obviously for Wonder Festival is on PVC figures that you can actually buy, there are always 10x more garage kits than commercially produced merchandise. The dealer room is absolutely massive, and if we attempted to hunt down and show you every single kit at the event it’d probably take several days worth of coverage. And, you know, it’s kind of bittersweet because they’re pretty but you can’t buy them (unless you have a proxy + the skill, time, & money to paint one). This year we had a pretty decent lineup, though I have to say I think it was lacking a bit compared to the last few. There was a LOT of Kantai Collection–mostly Iowa and Kashima, oddly enough. Of course we had Fate/Stay Night, IDOLM@STER, Love Live, and tons more (like a surprise Adventure Time figure!). Check them all out in the gallery. [via Dengeki, toshigk, & Ryuko KASINN]

  • Usually Alter saves their A-game for MegaHobby. Let’s be honest, their Wonder Festival displays tend to leave one lacking. But not this year, oh no. Apparently they caught on to how much I whine about it and were like ‘HEY CHECK OUT ALL THIS AMAZING SHIT, what now???’ Now, Alter, I spend all of my money on your shit. I mean oh my god. First off, we’re getting a brand-new Gwendolyn! What a surprise. I thought the new Velvet was to go with old Gwen & Mercedes, but I guessed wrong (does this mean we get a new Mercedes too??). Then we have the gayest figure on earth from Free–they’re finally doing dual figures with boys! Speaking of Altair, there are sooo many boys: mostly from Ensemble Stars! and Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ . We’ve got tons of IDOLM@STER and Love Live!, including the Ranko to end all Rankos. The WINGS. Then we have so very many announcements. Three Fate/Grand Order girls: Lancer, Saber Alter, and Jeanne d’Arc. We”ll be getting more IM@S (of course), a new Lala, and a figure of Rem from Re:Zero, who seems quite popular this year. • Max Factory has already shown off their Kantai Collection and IDOLM@STER cuties, and it seems like their line for the upcoming year is going to be dominated by just a few franchises. A large chunk of it was Vocaloid related (Heart Hunter Miku, finally, and a new Luka!) or Fate/Stay Night. We have the amazing header Jeanne d’Arc, along with Grand Order’s Berserker and an announced Assassin. We have two of the To LOVEru lingerie girls (Nana and Yuuki), and two Seventh Dragon figures (sculpted Samurai and announced Mage). They’ll be doing a figFIX of Honoka, along with matching figures of the rest of the Love Live! girls. Surprisingly, DoA’s Marie Rose is getting a lovingly sculpted figure, and Hotaru Shidare is painted. Check ’em out in the gallery! [via Wonderful Hobby Life]

  • Ah, MegaHobby Expo. It’s like Wonder Festival’s little brother! While it’s smaller, it’s still full of exciting announcements! Well, a few announcements. Alter brought all their newest goodies out in full force. While there’s not much new (just the announcement of Rei Sakuma and Ritsu Sakuma from Ensemble Stars), there are lots of painted beauties. Like their bunny Sora, or the Charlotte & Laura cat pajama figures which I am IN LOVE WITH. Their Love Live! Umi is also painted, and so so pretty, along with Leonardo Watch from the Altair line. We also have some sculpts! Purple Heart is here (and while I love her design, not a single one of her many figures has done it for me), along with some of the Alpha x Omega girls: Karen Houjou and Nao Kamiya. There’s also Asuka Sugou from Shin Seiki GPX Cyber Formula which is kind of a surprise. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • Miyazawa Model Expo is an event I forget about every year. I can tell you exactly when Wonder Festival and MegaHobby are, but Miyazawa Model? Yeah, it’s the event that time forgot. Or Leah’s brain, whichever. As always, Good Smile Company and their umbrella manufacturers brought a ton of goodies to the event. We have figmas and Nendoroids out the wazoo, including some newly painted and sculpted goodies. Phat! and Max Factory brought many of their gorgeous IDOLM@STER girls, including MF’s Ranko who is so very swoon-worthy. We’ve got giant girls from FREEing (man, Hestia’s cast-off is painfully noticeable), Good Smile’s Link, and tons more. Check them out in the gallery below! [via Digitamin]

  • It’s finally happened, guys! Magazine scans that aren’t 90% MegaHouse and 10% stuff we don’t care about. But you know what they say: be careful what you wish for. Sure, there’s lots of companies here, but there’s almost nothing new. Usually we get at least one or two figure reveals and a lot of new sculpts/paint. This time? Yeah, almost all of this was at Wonder Festival. We have some figmas, FREEing’s Lyrical Nanoha figures (I feel like we haven’t had a scaled Nanoha girl in ages!), lots of Love Live!, some Kantai Collection, and of course lots of MegaHouse-centered pages. Almost all of MH’s stuff is One Piece or Dragonball Z (their new Bulma is painted!), though the new Digimon trading figures did make an appearance. What is up with them? Why a toilet? [via takezo1101’s Twitter]

  • How many prize fairs are there even in a year? 4? 6? One every damn month? Sometimes it seems like that. I keep trying to swear off prize figures: they’re great quality for the price, but I already have so many expensive scaled figures and I am quickly running out of storage room. Or rather, I ran out a long time ago and just come up with more and more creative solutions. Yet somehow I keep coming back to prize figures. I can’t resist them! This batch seems particularly good. We have more of the Madoka x Bakemonogatari line, new Kantai Collection girls, more Evangelion (of course), a strange lack of Miku Hatsune, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] Added Eikoh’s Puzzle & Dragons girls! [via Hobbylog & Dengeki]

  • Wonder Festival has come and gone: we’ve seen all the new PVC figures from it, and have a good sense of what the coming 6 months will look like in terms of pre-orders. But what about the non-PVC stuff? I mean, Wonder Festival is a big event, and it has a dealer’s room! Where you can get garage kits and kaiju and all sorts of great goodies… if you have the money, and of course the skill to paint. We showed you a pre-event roundup, but there’s always lots more to see at the actual thing. A LOT more. And such a wide variety! There are weird tiny cats in kimonos, so very many KanColle and IM@S/Love Live girls, Chima Group’s goodies, a suspiciously low amount of Miku, lots of cuteness, and a very surprisingly SMT Nocturne kit. Check them all out below! [via Toshi GK & Ryoku Kasinn]

  • Welcome to another episode of “where the hell did all these figmas come from?” It’s like Nendoroids: there are just too many to keep track of. We brought you updates on a few of the big updates (Link, Deadpool, Gwendolyn). Sadly my dream figma, the Persona 3 MC, is still in the art phase while all these other guys are being announced. Life is so hard! But there’s lots of other cool things here. Like figma Ted! Just kidding, that thing is an abomination. Speaking of abominations there’s lots of Berserk news! Also Elsa, Caster, Metal Gear Solid, SAO, Samus, Kantai Collection, IDOLM@STER, Touken Ranbu, Fate/Grand Order, One Punch Man, and so much more! Hit the jump for the full gallery (and, like the Nendo roundup, a full list of all the figmas compiled by Stephen). [via WHL4U, sakai_max, shin_1, takeix, gsc_mamitan [1 2], amiami]
