  • We have seen two of Kotobukiya’s most exciting Wonder Festival announcements (new Pokemon and Cowboy Bebop), but I don’t think anything could prepare me for the exciting boy-figure-flood that was about to happen. Not only did they have Spike on display and their sculpted Atem, but we’re getting a brand new Lelouch from Code Black!! Thank you figure Jesus. We are blessed this day. And that’s not all (obviously)! So much new stuff, like an adorable Madoka, High School Fleet figures, Type-Moon’s Heroine X, a bunny-tastic Airi Totoki, Sebastian Cu-Poche, and a sculpted Velvet Crowe. We also have a few announcements! They’ll be doing another Tony Taka butterfly sister (who looks suspiciously like Miku), Vira from Granblue Fantasy, and RyuuZU from Clockwork Planet. • We’ve seen figures from Good Smile in the Kantai Collection and IDOLM@STER lines, but that was really just the tip of the iceberg. They had a ton of really cool figures (an announcements!). Of course the queen of my heart is that new Belldandy I’ve been eagerly anticipating. They also had many of the teased figures, like the new Mami (who has a matching Sayaka AND a Kyoko announcement!), Megumi Katou, and the new (amazing) Monogatari girl. There’s lots of new as well! Kabaneri‘s Mumei got a figure (surpriiiise), there’s Vira fron Granblue Fantasy, and tons of announcements. We’re finally getting a scaled Snow Miku, along with yet another Saber, Marcoss Delta‘s Mikumo Guynemer, Mei Irizaki from High School Fleet, and Re:Zero‘s Rem. What are you looking forward to? • Good Smile is pretty much the progenitor of the Wonder Festival teasers trend, so it’s no surprise that once again they went all out with them. They gave us a whopping 13 this year! So let’s just dive in, starting with scaled figures. We’ve got a new Mami from Madoka (probably matching the newer Madoka/Homura ones), Megumi Katou is painted, as are Yotsugi Ononoki from the Monogatari series and KanColle‘s Bismark. Of course the Nendoroids are where it’s at! Metaknight is painted, we’ve got Ookurikara from Touken Ranbu, Chuuya Nakahara from Bungou Stray Dogs, KanColle‘s Libeccio, Freyja Wion and Mikumo Guynemer from Macross Delta, Akeno Misaki from Discount KanColle… I mean High School Fleet, Mumei from Koutetsujou no Kabaneri. Plus you know that’s going to be barerly a 5th of the Nendos they have at the event… [via Kahotan]

  • Amakuni, aka “maker of expensive exclusives I want but never pull the trigger on,” brought a small but well curated selection of figures to MegaHobby Expo. First and foremost, their serene Homura & Madoka figure set is finally painted–and maybe it’s just the paint, but their hands look a little less awkward here. They’ve also sculpted their Yukime from Jigoku Sensei Nube, who appears to be on a giant snowman head. I approve. Then we have two brand-new figures! A rather plain figure of Kantai Collection’s Mutsu and a definitely not plain figure of Ii Naotora from Sengoku Musou 4 . Her hair is so dynamic! [UPDATE] Kokuten no Miko Tamayorihime from Wixoss was on display as well! [via AmiAmi’s Twitter]

  • You  know what they say: new season, new prize fair! Okay, so only I say that, but it’s basically true. Prize Fairs are a never-ending event that seem to strike when the weather changes. I know it’s technically been spring for months, but here in NY it’s been incredibly chilly until just this week. Finally, warm weather! And new figures! We have quite a few awesome things here, and some less than awesome ones as well–like the incredibly creepy Disney Princess line that will haunt my dreams. But along with the nightmares are cool releases like a bunch of Dragonball Z goodies including, at long last, Mr. Satan! We’ve also got Macross, Evangelion, Miku Hatsune, Fate/Grand Order, Kantai Collection, and a whole lot more… like my persona favorite, the Okami noodle toppers. Check them all out below! • How many prize fairs are there even in a year? 4? 6? One every damn month? Sometimes it seems like that. I keep trying to swear off prize figures: they’re great quality for the price, but I already have so many expensive scaled figures and I am quickly running out of storage room. Or rather, I ran out a long time ago and just come up with more and more creative solutions. Yet somehow I keep coming back to prize figures. I can’t resist them! This batch seems particularly good. We have more of the Madoka x Bakemonogatari line, new Kantai Collection girls, more Evangelion (of course), a strange lack of Miku Hatsune, and more. Check them all out in the gallery! [UPDATE] Added Eikoh’s Puzzle & Dragons girls! [via Hobbylog & Dengeki]

  • Ahh, Amakuni. What am I gonna do with you. They’re a mystery: some figures (I’m looking at you, Kasumi Iwato, and your crazy boobs) are just terribly made. Others, like the sculpts they showed off for Nunnally Shirokiite and Umuru, are just gorgeous. Then we have the lovely 7 Deadly Sins line and of course the big header surprise: Grizzry Panda’s AMAZING Homura & Madoka, finally as PVC! How do they make things so good and so bad? It’s a mystery. We also have some announcements: Saki Miyanaga & Hatsumi Usuzumi from Saki Zenkoku-hen, Kashima from KanColle, and Kokuten no Miko Tamayorihime form Wixoss. [via amiami]

  • One of my favorite things about Wonder Festival is the garage kits. I mean, on one hand I can’t actually own any of them and that’s kind of sad. But on the other hand, I can’t own any of them so yay not spending money! This year we have a really great mix to share with you. There’s everything from creative to sexy to cute–a lot of cute! Cute Dark Souls, cute Sonico, cute Kill la Kill, cute Polar Bear Cafe. We also have some US shows creeping in (yes, that is Finn & Jake!), a LOT of Kantai Collection (especially the bad girls–and the good girls in swimsuits?), Miku of course, a surprising amount of Persona merch including an amazingly perfect cat Aegis, and so much more. Check it all out in the gallery: and like always, all kits are named with both the circle & character name to help you find it if you’re going to the show! • Given the smash success of Aniplex’s gorgeous Maiko Madoka line, it’s no surprise that they’re going to capitalize on it with another batch of figures. I mean, imagine if FREEing only did one set of 1/4 scale bunny girls and never made another. It would be so sad. So… we’re getting more maiko girls! From what show? Who knows! Cause right now, it’s just the outlines of four girls. In kimono. I mean, it obviously has to be an Aniplex license. I’m guessing IDOLM@STER! I need a Maiko Miki. They also showed off all the Madoka art… with a totally different Homura? Either they’re just flaunting alternate art, or we’re getting a second Homura. Yes please. [UPDATE] It’s Fate/Stay Night! What a twist. [via Aniplex]

  • I have always viewed Azone’s 1/3 line of dolls as less-nice versions of Dollfie Dreams: the faces are less detailed, there are decal eyes instead of glass ones, and the joints just aren’t as nice as Volks’. But every once in a while, they announce something that I absolutely have to own. Actually, it’s only happened once (with Black Raven II Lilia), but I might have a second Azone doll to add to my wishlist. It’s not, as you might have guessed, the Madoka in the header. Uniform version, yawn. They’ve already made her in her magical girl uniform, which is her superior look in my opinion. No, my excitement is for the announcement that accompanied her: Devil Homura! IN DOLL FORM. Be still, my heart. [via madopillow’s Twitter]
