Magi – Labyrinth of Magic Archive

  • What is up with magazine scans recently? Last month they were just awfully uploaded, and this time around they are so late the exclusives revealed are already up for order. Also… they’re pretty awful. There’s barely anything here worth checking out. Are you sold on this post yet?! Well, there are some goodies–MegaHouse’s Elf and Amazon from Dragon’s Crown are painted, and they announced a Sorceress! Their Morgiana is painted as well. There’s also a brand new Range Murata figure from Alter! Of course there’s more. A giant Siggy from Queen’s Blade, a less giant (but no less tacky) Tomoe, Penguin Parade’s awkward version of Senhime from Hyakka Ryouran, and New Line’s surprisingly nice Naoe. MegaHouse is now pumping out yet another version of their Miki, this time with… a cowboy hat! Also there are Nendoroids we’ve already seen. Hooray! [note: we’re currently having issues with links, images are from 2chan]

  • Wait just one minute. This is Animate GIRLS Festival. Emphasis on the GIRLS, in case you didn’t get it the first time. A girl event for girl-catered figures only. Which means…. boy figures! No girls allowed! So what is a girl figure doing here?! Wow MegaHouse, get your shit together. You’re making it really easy to regress to elementary school. Anyway, we’ve seen this figure sculpted already, in magazine scans, but now we’re getting a better look and I’m totally in love. She’s so pretty! It’s great to get a harem-outfit style figure without the main thrust of the design being on “ooh, look how sexy she is! Wow so sexy, much boobs!” Based on the sculpt and her proportions, I am definitely picking up Morgiana–unless they really mess up the paint, or make her an exclusive… [via whitenoize’s Twitter]

  • MegaHouse had figures at CharaHobby aside from the new Nami? Why yes indeed they did! Do you mean to insinuate that I wrote Nami up just so I could fulfill my lifelong dream of writing a post in Shibe?!?!? Wow such accusations. So uncool. Anyway, they didn’t really have a lot: Juuzo Okita and Makoto Harada from Spaceship Yamato along with Aladdin and a lovely figure of Nefertari Vivi that’s currently set for a January release. Oh and DIGIMON BOYS PAINTED HELLZ YEAH. Can you tell I’m excited and hope they do every cast member ever especially the mons? [via Akibahobby]

  • Every year, MegaHouse is without a doubt the most disappointing company at Wonder Festival. They’re one of the biggest PVC producers, yet year after year they bring nothing new. You know what new figures they had this year? Umi Kousaka from IDOLM@STER Million Live!, which we’re not allowed to show you. LITERALLY THAT IS IT. Oh, and announcements for Melda Dietz and Juuzo Okita from Uchuu Senkan Yamato 2199. Wow. Of course they had lots of figures we’ve already seen from Dragon’s Crown, One Piece, Devil Summoner and more that you can check out in the gallery! Meanwhile I’ll just sit over here and sulk. *grumble grumble* [via Akibahobby]

  • Whoo, scans. Pardon my lack of enthusiasm, but the week leading up to Wonder Festival always has me dreading scans. It means extra features (garage kit roundup and wishlist) on top of, well, the event coverage and we have three reviews to work on this week! So when I remembered scans were tonight I nearly cried. For real, ask Stephen. So, let’s just dive right in. Wow, such figures! So PVC! Wowwwww! Maybe I’ll just do every post in Shibe…

  • Banpresto sure does love their fancy Ichiban Kuji line–probably because it has made so many collectors cry and empty their wallets. I’ll be honest, considering the after-market prices some of these go for I don’t know why Banpresto doesn’t just release all of them like regular figures for about 3k each–they’d certainly make more than the ¥800 they charge for a ticket, and fans would be happier! Anyway, they had a HUGE lineup at ACE this year. What stole my heart is the Code Geass line: sadly, Kallen was an SQ figure, but the rest are all Ichiban Kuji. But I need that goth Lulu! We also have a LOT of K-On!, Fate/Stay Night, Gintama, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha along with all the rest of the regulars, along with the entire IDOLM@STER crew. No, seriously, all of them. Then there are some announcements, the one I am most excited for is the Prisma Illya line! More Rin, please. [via AkibaHobby]

  • Magazine scans always take me by surprise. Well, most of the time anyway. It’s funny, because I know they are the same night every month yet somehow I forget! So I’m just sitting around, minding my own business and indulging in sappy tv shows when BAM suddenly scans! This month we’ve got a whole lot from MegaHouse, including a brand new boy! To be honest it’s not the most action-packed month but of course there are lots of goodies to be had. Check them all out after the jump!

  • To wrap up our Tamashii Nations coverage, we’ve got the scaled side of things! Bandai really focuses more on action figures, but they do put out a few cheaper, smaller-scale pre-painted figures in their Figuarts ZERO line. We’ve got all the teased Magi – Labyrinth of Magi Figuarts (and more!): Aladdin, Sinbad, Alibaba Saluja, Judai, and Morgiana. There’s also a Half-Age Character line in the shot you can see! There’s a few other assorted figures, many of which we saw at Dengeki’s 20th like the Senran Kagura girls. However, we have a new addition too: the lovely Yumi from Shinovi Versus! Last, we’ve got a red recolor of their adorable Ranka Lee to go with that blue Sheryl. [via Charanet’s Facebook]

  • We’ve already taken a look at some of the highlights of Tamashii Nations, but there’s of course a lot more at the event! Their Chibi-Arts line seems to be growing in popularity, and we’ve already seen the Sailor Moon one they had on hand. Also on display were the teased Ja’far and Sinbad ones from Magi, Wild Tiger and child Barnaby Brooks Jr. from Tiger & Bunny, Meer Campbell, Boa Hancock, Mei Misaki, and Kise Yayoi to go with Cure Peace. I am excited to see Meer in the lineup, though at the moment she looks a bit…. possessed. [via Charanet’s Facebook]

  • Tamashii Nations 2012 takes place on October 26th, and while Bandai usually isn’t one for pre-event teasers they have some prepared this time around. Mainly, of a batch of figures from the show Magi – Labyrinth of Magic! The teaser features Alibaba Saluja, Aladdin, and Sinbad, most likely as Figuarts ZERO though it seems like the Chibi-Arts and Half Age Character lines are on the table as well. The show has a pretty big cast and Bandai just loves to milk their licenses, so I’m sure these won’t be the only 3 characters we’re getting… or the only 3 types of figures, even. [via Tamashii Nations]
