Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Archive

  • It’s finally happened, guys! Magazine scans that aren’t 90% MegaHouse and 10% stuff we don’t care about. But you know what they say: be careful what you wish for. Sure, there’s lots of companies here, but there’s almost nothing new. Usually we get at least one or two figure reveals and a lot of new sculpts/paint. This time? Yeah, almost all of this was at Wonder Festival. We have some figmas, FREEing’s Lyrical Nanoha figures (I feel like we haven’t had a scaled Nanoha girl in ages!), lots of Love Live!, some Kantai Collection, and of course lots of MegaHouse-centered pages. Almost all of MH’s stuff is One Piece or Dragonball Z (their new Bulma is painted!), though the new Digimon trading figures did make an appearance. What is up with them? Why a toilet? • Do you know how many Alter figures of Fate Testarossa I own? Seven. And I don’t even have all of them. It’s absurd! They pop out versions of her like there’s no tomorrow, and I’ve sworn to myself: no more! Especially no more huge ones. Even though I liked the sculpt of their new Full Drive version of her when it was shown off, I convinced myself that I didn’t need it. UNTIL NOW. Painted, she looks so gorgeous. Typical Alter quality, and the white cape makes her… kind of different from the other ones? But for real, she’s going to be so expensive. Just think about the price. I’m guessing… 18k, at least! We’ll find out soon, because orders open on the 21st. [via Alter’s Blog]

  • Do you know how many figures there are of Fate Testarossa/Harlaown? A lot. But how about swimsuit figures? Yeah… still a lot. One might even say… too many. Fate is one of my favorite girls but even I, the swimsuit figure lover, am very tired of her in a bikini. Wow, I get it, she’s cute! Move along. But alas, swimsuit Fate never stops. This time it’s Aquamarine taking her on. And if it was, like, 5 years ago I would definitely go for this figure. Cute pose, great hair, nice swimsuit. Plus weaponry! But really, I’m over Fate. Can we get a swimsuit Signum? Or Teana? Fate will retail for ¥9,980 with a January release date, with orders opening this week. [via Dengeki]

  • Have you ever thought to yourself “well, GSC sure does make the same thing over and over, but at least they’ve done so many variants of Fate & Nanoha that we won’t be getting any more sets of Petit Nendoroids from them!” You were wrong. Horribly, horribly wrong. Because, of course, there’s always some obscure outfit to stick this duo in. Like… aprons! Okay, the mini food is kind of cute. What’s not cute? The fact that they are bundled with Nanoha ViVid vol. 13 limited edition and retail for a hefty ¥3,500. At least the release isn’t until January? [via Kadokawa]

  • What in the world is up with the sudden streak of magical-girls-as-cheerleaders figures? Did they all decide to join a cheer squad? And if so, when are we getting Sakura Kinomoto and Sailor Moon versions? I mean, the Homura one was pretty weird, but I definitely wasn’t expecting Ichiban Kuji to come out with a Fate & Nanoha so soon after! I’m not ashamed to admit that I find this set absolutely adorable. They’re just… so cute! Especially Nanoha, and I’m usually a huge Fate fan so that’s really saying something. I mean… I kind of want to hunt both of them down on the aftermarket after the lottery in September. There are even little chibi cheerleaders, ee! [via Ichiban Kuji]

  • Wonder Festival is now only one day away, and we’re coming to the end of our pre-event garage kit coverage! We’ve been over quite a bit, but by far the biggest category is exactly what you would expect: anime and manga related characters. This year, like pretty much every other, there’s a fantastic mix of old and new. From shows that just wrapped up to ones that ended decades ago, it’s all here! Check them all out in the gallery below and let us know your favorites. • Have you ever sat down and thought to yourself, “man, Alter sure hasn’t made enough figures of Fate Testarossa. Especially in battle poses with elaborate weaponry. I sure do wish they’d make more of those.” No. No one in their right mind has ever thought such a thing because for a while, that was practically all Alter was making. Then they re-released all of their Fates. And made some more. But never re-released one of the matching Nanohas, THANKS ALTER. What were we talking about again? Oh, it’s a new Fate. In a battle pose. Wow, impressive! [via Beyyang128]

  • So far, Alter’s Summer Holiday line, featuring the girls of Nanoha, has been pretty freaking awesome. Their Nanoha was perfection, and while Fate was not quite as popular I liked her even more than her brunette counterpart. So of course I was excited when they announced Hayate would be joining the lineup! And, as you would expect, she is gorgeous: a wonderful & realistic body sculpt, lovely detailing given her simple outfit, and a vibrant paintjob. And there’s even a castoff feature and a mini Reinforce II. But unlike the first two, she just isn’t calling my name! I wonder if I am just over swimsuit figures? She’ll go up on March 5th and is slated for a Summer release. [via Alter’s Blog]

  • Aquamarine is a small, small company… or at least they used to be, because they sure had a lot to show off at Wonder Festival! Like, a shocking amount of figures. We’ll start with the sculpts: the announced Chaika Trabant is here and looking FABULOUS, and they also have a figure of Houki Shinonono, along with the art for their Kantai Collection girls. Oh, and a swimsuit Fate… because we need more? As for announcements, we have a ton! Swimsuit Laura Bodewig, Sion from Sword Art Online, and Saber Mordred from Fate/Apocrypha… making them the very first company to announce a figure of this Saber. Weird, right? [via earlbox]

  • It’s kind of hard to believe that Alter is still working on their Nanoha line. It’s been running for ages, almost since they started producing figures, and includes some of their most impressive work to date like Shin Sonic Fate and Stand By Ready Nanoha. Even the obscure characters have been covered, so they’re retreading old ground as we found out almost a year ago at Winter WonFest 2013. Their new “Zur Zeit des Erwachens” Hayate Yagami popped up painted at MegaHobby, and thankfully is not just a rehash: we get some new goodies with this new sculpt which make her worth buying even if you have the 2008 Hayate, who frankly has a very similar pose. This one has two heads, one with pale hair and one with dark, and two ways to display her weapon: standard, and raising it above her head (which takes up an almost sinful amount of space). Orders open on the 22nd! [via Alter’s Blog]
