Mako Mankanshoku Archive

  • Pretty much the only item I was interested in from Good Smile Company’s Summer WonFest exclusives lineup was the Nendoroid Mako, which is funny because I emphatically dislike Kill la Kill. But I mean, this is a pretty irresistible Nendoroid (if you like Nendos). All those extra parts! And today Kahotan is bringing us a closer look at this cutie. Of course all the extras, especially the two different crying parts and her varied expressions, seem to be the real attention-grabber, but this is an all-around detailed Nendoroid. Her outfit looks fantastic and has some great paintwork, and the poses seem very well thought-out. Is she nice enough to warrant the 2k shipping from Good Smile, though? Yes. The answer is yes. I want, like, five of her. And if you don’t feel like waiting until Wonder Festival and happen to be going to Anime Expo, she will be at the event! [via Kahotan]

  • We’re a little over a month away from Summer Wonder Festival–so it might seem a little early to start doing any teasing or revealing, but I guess it’s not for Good Smile Company and co because they just unveiled the full lineup of their exclusives! I tend to find their Summer offerings a lot more boring than the Winter ones and this year is no exception: I actually only like one of the figures (and it’s from a show I hate, go figure). So let’s start with the plus: we’re getting that Fight Club version of Mako Mankanshoku which was shown off at Winter WonFest. She’s so cute and the alt faces are amazing! You can snag her for ¥4,167. We’ll also be getting the cheerleader Nendoroid More bodies, which are a mere ¥833 per blind box: but of course you can get a whole case of them! Then there’s a lot of IM@S Cinderella Girls. We have a Nendoroid set, full sized, of Rin, Uzuki, and mom-hair Mio (why is she so popular?! argh) in super cute stage outfits (FINALLY), but they have zero accessories which kind of blows. The set of three will run you ¥6,019. Then we have figmas of Rin and Uzuki that make me want to throw things. Because instead of cute stage outfits, it’s… jogging gear. WHY? These will be ¥4,630 each. These will be at the event, but online orders will open July 26th and run until August 3rd. Are you interested in any of these girls? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life site]

  • If you are surprised at the fact that there are quite a few Kill la Kill garage kits making an appearance at Wonder Festival this summer… well, you probably haven’t been paying attention to figure trends at all. In fact, I’m kind of surprised at how few there are! Of course we have quite a few, but most of the focus is on Ryuuko with only a handful of Satsukis and one lone Mako. Oh, and THE CUTEST GUTS. Seriously, I want it so bad. [via Odeya, fg-site, Iwayura Extra, Figureneet]

  • Did that tile give any of you AIM chatroom flashbacks? Ahh, glomping. I feel so old. Anyway, to the matter at hand! Kill la Kill features a lot of outrageous outfit designs, so I was not that excited at the announcement of Nendoroid Mako Mankanshoku–just a boring schoolgirl, right? WRONG. So wrong. Seriously, she is amazing. She comes with a few accessories, but they are awesome: a plate of croquettes and the show’s animal companion Guts. But the faces are where she really shines: she comes with five. Happy, ridiculously happy with wacky eyes, goofy yelling, sleeping (complete with removable drool bubble!) and a beat up face. Five may seem excessively generous, and indeed… you only get the beat-up face if you order her through GSC’s webstore. Worth it? Well, it’s a pretty amazing face. I wonder what it would look like on other Nendoroids… [via Kahotan’s Blog]

  • Kill la Kill is already a cash cow for Good Smile Company & co, with figmas, Nendoroids and scales of the main two girls. But what would a show about boobs and swords be without a bumbling, almost-clothed assistant? Wait, what? Seriously, if you did not know Mako was from the same show as Ryuuko, you would never guess. Mako is getting a Nendoroid, which is being shown off in full and is super cute, and… a figma! Which is only an outline, but, you know… pretty easy to guess what it is going to look like.
