Max Factory Archive

  • After the years upon years we waited for Persona 5, it’s only fair that we get an absolute metric ton of merchandise from it. I mean, I think at this point we have more P5 figures than P4... which is really saying something. I mean, the game just came out this year! In the US, at least. Waiting for translations is so annoying. Of course Max Factory was one of the first companies to jump on the P5 hype train. After all, based god MF is the one who gave us a P3 figma. So far we only have Joker in the lineup, but he comes with a little Morgana so it’s kind of like two for the price of one! I’m considering putting Morgana on my alarm clock to give me even less of a reason to wake up. I mean, just imagine it: you roll over in the morning to hit your alarm and are faced with the “it’s time for bed” cat. What’s one more hit of the snooze, right?

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Usually we get a decent amount of time between the reveal of Good Smile’s two seasonal Mikus, Snow and Racing. But this year, they’re going a little crazy for her 10th anniversary and showing off both at the same time! Because what we need this week is more Miku news, don’t you think? I must admit that the Racing designs almost never win me over until I see a sculpted scale, and this one is no different: it’s a little blah, and I feel like the ‘royalty’ theme for her is a little overdone. The Snow design, though, is so cute! Makes me sad we never get scales of the Snow designs. [via linz_torute]

  • 2 minutes ago I was all “if I see another Vocaloid related announcement on my Twitter I am going to cry.” Guys, I was wrong. I was so wrong. Since Tony Taka first showed off his Luka concept art a few weeks ago I’ve been begging the figure gods for a scaled figure. And my prayers have been answered! If this is anything like their scaled Tony Taka Racing Miku, it’s going to be glorious: soft colors and clear PVC and wings. So many things I love. Now we just need Tony’s bike Miku and kimono Miku as figures… [via Good Smile’s Twitter]

  • The sub-header of this post should be “but not the one you want or expect.” I saw that we were getting another Yu-Gi-Oh figma and my mind immediately went to all sorts of crazy places. Figma Pegasus? Figma Mai Valentine? Figma JOEY WHEELER? Nope. We’re jumping right to Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS and Playmaker, who has a name and design ripped straight from Tron. I love how bizarre this franchise has gotten. I mean, it was already pretty weird in the first few seasons. Then we got Jaden’s show, then Yu-Gi-Oh on bikes, and now… Yu-Gi-Oh in the mainframe? Wild, I tell you. While I have no idea what is going on here I’m not gonna lie, I like it. [via the figma blog]

  • Every year I feel like figmas at Wonder Festival just kind of try to outdo the previous Wonder Festival’s weirdness and randomness and this year is no exception. While we’ve got our standards here like a new Racing Miku and a new Miku variation from V4X and the female main character from Pokemon Sun and Moon that we already showed you, Li from Cardcaptor Sakura, Nero from Fate/EXTELLA, Kaiba from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Kaban from Kemono Friends, a handful of new Kantai Collection additions, and some more Little Armory additions, the rest seem to be a bit all over the place. Between the Dark Souls III figma and Kasumi from Dead or Alive, we’ve got some great video game additions that are less expected. Then we’ve also got the amazing announcement of a Tony Taka’s PANDORA figma, which should be great! Now in unexpected land we’ve got Arashi from Game Center Arashi, figma Kurogo, who just appears to be a random ninja, Goro Inogashira from Kodoku No Gurume, who just looks like a random middle aged Japanese guy in a suit, the wrestler Masahiro Chono, two figmas from Arms Note, and last, but not least, completely out of left field, a character from the 1977 movie Village of Eight Gravestones. Then the art line is being continued with Yuurei-zu and Nike and we’re also getting a figma of higma, the traditional bear carving. Check them all out in the gallery below! • It seems like every year we get more and more figures from Pokemon. It used to be one or two at each event if we were very lucky, and the quality was never that good. Truly we are living in the golden age. Like today, when both Kotobukiya and MegaHouse have their Lillies painted! Plus we have a new announcement from MegaHouse: Serena will be next up. Not enough for you? Well Max Factory has a figma of Moon and GSC announced a Nendoroid of Suiren. That’s a lot of Sun & Moon. [UPDATE] We are also getting a Moon figure from Koto! [UPDATE 2] Added the Mewtwo & Rayquaza figures from X-PLUS via amiami [via whl4u, girlshobby, and Kotobukiya]

  • As usual, Max Factory had a small but excellently sculpted bundle of figures for Wonder Festival. We’ve seen the Mikus (my favorite from them), but there’s lots more like… Rurouni Kenshin? So many surprise boys at this event! The Eriri and Megumi from Saenai Heroine are finally sculpted, as is Ai-chan from Tawawa on Monday whose breasts seem to be escaping from her shirt, poor dear. Their Marie Rose is finally painted and… I no longer want her? Just a garish color combo. In other fighting game news, they are doing a Renewal version of their infamous Kasumi. Morrigan when?! Iowa is also painted, along with the tiny Kemono Friends figures. For announcements, we have Jeanne d’Arc Alter dress version, whose art is just stunning. [via whl4u]

  • Every year seems to be a big year for Miku Hatsune figures, but this year is extra-special because Good Smile Company is doing a bunch of 10th anniversary figures! That’s right, 10 years of Miku. Seems longer, right? We will be getting a scale, Nendoroid, and figma of this special anniversary Miku. But that’s not all! We have more of the cute Nendoroid CODE outfits and a bunch of lovely scales. GSC will be doing a Harvest Moon Miku, and we have two from Max Factory: Vintage Dress and Winter Heroine, who is finally painted. Plus, as a weird bonus, Sonico cosplaying as this year’s Racing Miku! And there’s more racing where that came from: the cute bike Miku is getting a figma, and the scale of 2017 is finally painted. No Thai Racing Miku though, hmm? Maybe she’ll show up later. [UPDATE] We have a few announcements from FREEing in the gallery! The wedding one looks super cute. [via whl4u]

  • You know what I want right before Wonder Festival? When we’re t-minus 7 hours away? A different event with like 50 new Fate/Stay Night figures at it! What joy, what excitement, what nonsense. The Fate/History event was showing off the figure history of, you guessed it, the Fate franchise, but it had SO MANY NEW FIGURES from every company who has put them out in the past: Good Smile Company, Max Factory, AlphaMax, Aquamarine, Pulchra, Myethos, Kotobukiya, PLUM, etc. Seriously just so many. The stars of the show for me were Pulchra’s very cute Marie Antoinette and Aquamarine’s sitting dress Saber EXTRA who looks so detailed and fantastic. But GSC had quite a few crazy gals on display too like the new Jeanne and Artoria Pendragon on a giant horse. I wonder how many arms & legs that will cost! [via Hobby Maniax]
