Well, outfits, but it’s still rather funny to see Volks doing color swaps on clothing. As revealed in Volks News 50, they’ll be doing new colorways of some of their most popular outfits from the past few years. This is really a blessing, since the aftermarket pricing on Volks outfits is insane, especially given their already-steep asking price. I actually really like all of these outfits, though I doubt I’ll be able to get them all: thought between the international event and the US release, you can at least spread out your purchases!

These outfits will be at the DD Gathering 2012 on October 20th along with the new standard model Dollfies Rena, Mayu & Miko. Every time I see Mayu I like her more and more: she looks so adorable in that grey outfit! I also really like the wig they picked for Saber Extra (as well as the outfit she’s modeling!). Speaking of Sabers, Stephen and I FINALLY got our Extra & Alter this afternoon after an 11 month wait. Let’s hope the Xenosaga pre-orders don’t take that long…

[via the DD Blog 1, 2]

Volks Hops On The Recolor Train For The Dollfie Dream Gathering 2012

We see a lot of recolors in the figure world, though it’s not often that we get… doll recolors! Well, outfits, but it’s still rather funny to see Volks doing color swaps on clothing. As revealed in Volks News 50, they’ll be doing new colorways of some of their most popular outfits from the past few years.

In fact, all they get is a slip! Volks has already previewed MDD Rena, and now it’s time for the other two. Mayu is a DDH-04 on a DDS body, which is nice since the DDS seems to be quite hard to acquire. Usually I dislike the 04 (it’s my least favorite of the standard heads) but Mayu is just so cute! I even like her stock eyes & wig.

Then we’ve got Miko, a DDH-06 on a Dynamite body. It’s a cute combination, and the 06 is really a gorgeous head. I actually really like her stock wig: the purple is an interesting color choice! Miko will retail for ¥44,000 while Mayu will be slightly less at ¥42,000–apparently, those boobs cost ¥2,000! Both will be initially released at the DD Gathering in October, though of course they will be available online afterwards (and not as a lottery item!).

[via the DD Blog 1, 2]

There were also a few surprises, as there always are, like some excellent re-releases and a rather odd alternate color.

This week seemed to be ruled by Vocaloids and Strike Witches, with 3 figures from each a piece. There were also two girls from the Shining series, but it seems like we always get a few of them! Surprisingly absent was Touhou Project: I’m used to Griffon putting up at least one figure a week, but this time we got none! We also got figures from ToHeart2, Nyanpire, and a few American titles, so hit the jump to check them all out!
