I love Junpei Iori from Persona 3. A lot. Like… he’s probably my favorite male character from any (Japanese) property ever. I’ve been dying for merchandise of him since I first popped in the game disk and saw his goofy face. He’s my video game soulmate. And we’re finally getting something of him! You think that would be good news, right? WRONG.
The dreaded Happy Kuji is upon us again. Prize figures… damn you to hell! So far we’re getting keychains of Junpei, the MC, Mitsuru Kirijou, Yukari Takeba, Fuuka Yamagishi, Akihiko Sanada and Elizabeth. They’re so cute ;~; Like their Persona 4 lineup we’ll also be getting chibis (of all the playable characters! Except Ken, cause Ken sucks. And Shinji, because… you know), and 2 scaled prizes of the MC and Elizabeth. And for once, no Aegis! It’s a miracle. But I just want Junpei. Sadly Happy Kuji figures seem so hard to get *sob*

While we’ve had a ton of Persona 4 merchandise, there haven’t been a lot of plushies except for the multiple versions of Teddie in his bear form. Now we’re finally getting (almost) the whole cast in squishy form: Taito is doing prize plushes of the MC, Chie, Yosuke, Kanji, Naoto, Yukiko, Rise, human Teddie, and even Nanako. ADORABLE! Each set of 3 is ￥2,680 and while they’re not up on any US sites yet you can snag some on Rakuten. Man, I need that Nanako in my life…

Welcome to two months of loot in one! Actually it’s kind of three: as you may or may not have noticed, we didn’t have a August loot post either. It’s a long story, but basically AmiAmi has been smushing our orders together oddly so we get things late (but some early–most of our October was here before the September items). So some August items squeaked their way in! Hit the jump to get started on our most action-packed loot post yet.

For a male character, the MC of Persona 4 and its variations sure is popular with garage kit circles! We had that great one back at Summer WonFest, and now the circle Gate River has one for Treasure Festa in Kobe 4 (which is pretty much over, so it’s a little late to get in line for him!). While the face isn’t quite as nice as the G.E.M version the pose and body sculpt are awesome!

For a while now, there have been Persona 4 glasses on the market, but really only of the MC’s design. Now, you can wear the glasses of your favorite main castmember: Yu, Yosuke, Chie, Yukiko, Kanji, Rise and Naoto’s designs are all part of the new Movic line! That’s right, finally a line that includes everyone. The price might be the best part–each pair is only ¥2,670 at AmiAmi, and each comes with a mini poster of the character as well. I am really tempted to snag Rise’s, I actually do need some new glasses!

A lot of companies have been working on Persona 4 trading figures recently: Phat! Company has their Twin Pack line, and Bandai did those adorable Half-Age Girls. But it was MegaHouse that started the trend with their tons of boxed keychains, and now they’re at it again with… chess pieces? I’m not seeing how you can play chess with stuff this elaborate and bulky, but okay!
We’ve actually got some nice variety here: Yu, Yukiko, Yosuke, Teddie, Naoto and Chie are all featured in little dioramas with their Personas. That’s right, finally some Naoto! But no Rise, which does make me a little sad. The sculpts on these look great, and they’re set to go up on the 11th along with a ton of other figures from MegaHouse.

It’s really nice that the Persona series is getting attention in the figure world, and it’s even nicer that we are getting some male figures out of it. However, there’s something everyone wants that is being blatantly ignored: action figures of the guys! Heck, Yosuke figma made it to the top of GSC’s figure request poll. Sure, Chie and Yukiko are nice, but we want boys! And Rise. Please give us Rise Max Factory!
Those ingenious Japanese customizers have (kind of) made our dreams come true by taking the Figuarts ZERO versions of the main characters from 3 and 4 and turning them into… you guessed it, figmas. Kind of like that figma Elizabeth! They pose, they fight, they summon Personas. This is truly some awesome custom work, and maybe one day if we wish really hard it will turn into reality.

Welcome to a week of fabulous flying ladies! We’ve got ladies with mechanical wings, butterfly wings, even feathered wings… on their waist! In fact, we’ve also got not one but two sky-high Nendoroids. Okay, so one rides a carrot and the other has weird feet blade-wings, but there’s still an unusually high number of airborne figures this time around. Of course we’ve got some earthbound ladies as well (and one small guy). Ladies with guns, small ladies with guns, flying ladies with guns… really, it’s a week of flying ladies with guns all around (and some with swords and laces!), many of whom popped up in magazine scans. So hit the jump and check them out!

When I started collecting, you could count the number of Shin Megami Tensei figures on your hands. Now, there’s such an overload I honestly don’t even know if I even have room for all the SMT figures out there! This is mostly because of Persona 4‘s success: 3 games and an anime will do that. While I do wish it was, say, Persona 3 or Nocturne getting all this attention I’ll take what I can get! At this point we’ve gotten almost all the cast, but of course that doesn’t stop companies from churning out endless versions of them. Phat! Company, whose Teddie & Izanagi sets actually led the trend towards more Persona merchandise, has continued pumping out Twin Packs: first with Chie & Yukiko, and now with Rise & Yu/MC.
While at this point I am really experiencing MC overload, I can never say no to Rise, even with midget proportions! It seems like this line is bound to continue, so I wonder who is next? Yosuke, Kanji & Naoto are the only main playable characters not to get figures from Phat!, and they also only made one Persona and one monster, so really they could do anything. What I would really like is a Dojima & Nanako set–how cute would that be?! Rise & Yu will retail for ¥2,500 with a January release, so expect orders really soon.
