Mei Misaka Archive

  • We’ve looked at the Lelouch, Sailor Moon, Guilty Gear, and Cure Peace S.H.Figuarts & D-Arts, but to no one’s surprise there were a ton more on hand at Tamashii Nations 2012. They had Hakumen from BlazBlue, Nagisa Motomiya from AKB0048, Mei Misaka and Izumi Akazawa from Another, Golden Darkness, Alicia from God Eater Burst, the Durarara!! boys we saw at Dengeki’s 20th, and Aoi Ichikawa from Hikounin Sentai Akibaranger. Check them all out and more in the gallery! [via Charanet’s Facebook]

  • Art Spirits is a small company, so they only had two figures to show off at Wonder Festival. Well, one figure really, since one is an announcement! They’re going to take on Mei Misaka from Another, a character who seems quite popular. As for the sculpted figure, they’re working on Haruko Amaya from Maken-Ki! in a maid ensemble. It’s nice to see some decent Maken-Ki! figures out there, since previously we only had those terrible Toys Works ones. [via Figure/GK]

  • Griffon’s main focus at most events is Touhou Project, but they actually had a lot of anime-based merchandise at Wonder Festival this time! However, let’s start with Touhou since that seems to be where they put most of their efforts. Their loli Yukari is sculpted, and I am excited to see her done–I love Yukari and this is a fun alternate take! Surprisingly, only one other Touhou girl was there: a second version of Iku Nage. I thought the first version was a bit meh, so it’s nice to see a better sculpt. Unsurprisingly, there was a new Kanu at the event, along with a recolor of Cattleya. A few of the Treasure Festa figures saw some progress: samurai Sasara is finally sculpted, as is their Mei Misaka. Is it just me, or does Mei look a LOT better than the average Griffon figure? Ichika is sculpted as well, though Asunsa from Sword Art Online seems to still be a work in progress. The best announcement for me was their Boku wa Tomodachi girls: they’re taking on Sena and Yozora, but in monster hunter outfits! Yozora is sculpted while Sena is still in art form, but I have high hopes for the duo. [via akibahobby]

  • Azone is one of the few doll companies to attend Wonder Festival, so of course they bring out the big guns! And I do mean that in the literal sense: the Siggy in the header is one of their 50cm (1/3 scale) dolls! I rarely go for Azones, but she really does look amazing. They also have a 1/3 scale Inori Yuzuhira and Mei Misaka from Another. Inori’s face is gorgeous! Of course they had some girls on the smaller side of things. There’s a Pureneemo Kuroyukihime that looks lovely (though is sure to be expensive!), and a casual Kyoko Sakura. Two Touhou girls showed up, Youmu Konpaku and Yuyuko Saigyouji–sadly, these will be exclusives. Sena Kashiwazaki and Nyarlathotep were there as well, though they already went up for order. However, there is going to be a 1/3 scale Sena as well! Some of the original characters appeared as well of course! Lilia is getting some little sisters, and the a la mode line is continuing with Alisa. There was only one art-based announcement, Shirakiin Ririchiyo from Inu x Boku SS. • This month’s magazine scans got off to a very bumpy start, with blurry cellphone pics and other oddities. Now, though, we have all of the scans in glorious high resolution! That’s right, no more peering at them to see company names. Many of the figures were already covered in our previous post, but of course we’ve got some new info as well. First off, there are three (3!) figures of Erica Hartmann: Alter has their version of her painted, the Nendoroid is complete, and there’s also an adorable resin kit. Kaitendoh has also brought a trio of figures, all of which look surprisingly good. There’s a new Kirino, a new Hello Kitty girl, and Mikado, a companion piece to their amazing Retia. There are two new colorways of previous figures: a red version of ques Q’s Bunny Taiga and a pink shimapan Soniko from Gift, who is just as risque as the previous release. We’ve also got scans of prize figures, Nendoroids going up for order this week (Monster Hunter and Nodoka), figmas and Gutto-Kurus, AmiAmi Zero’s Houki STILL without a price, and a few more PVC cuties. Check them all out in the gallery! [via figure/gk]

  • Treasure Festa is mostly an event for garage kit builders, but of course a few PVC companies show up as well. Most notable is Griffon, who likes to unveil new Touhou Project gals at this event. This year was no exception, and they had a surprising amount of new info, but let’s start first with the stuff we know about! There’s their Aya Shameimaru: while I wasn’t won over when we first saw her sculpted, the refinements they’ve done are very nice and she does look rather adorable. Then there’s the new Yuyuko, the Dragon Chronicles Harumi, and Hideyoshi Kinoshita who is still in the sculpted stage. As for new stuff, they are getting to the new Touhou announcements from Wonder Festival: Toyosatomimi no Miko has been completed, and she looks amazing! Those ears are just magnificent. They also had a few brand-new announcements on hand: Mei Misaka from Another, Ichika Takatsuki from Ano Natsu de Matteru, and Yuuki Asuna from Sword Art Online. There was a garage kit of Yuuki Asuna at Treasure Festa as well in a very similar pose! [via moeyo]
